TBH, I've never really paid much attention. I don't shop on the site very often. Gold is just something I've managed to reach over a number of years, I think.
I did however just look into it quickly, and this is about all I could find that relates to your question:

Played it about a year ago with PS Plus and it's not as bad as some say it is. I enjoyed it and would say it's worth the price. With that being said, I wish devs and publishers stop trying to make games live-service...not matter if they succeed of fail.

Could have been an amazing game, if it would have stick to single player and focused on the story. Instead, it was just great. But great, nonetheless, got over 200 hours on it. The combat is enjoyable, the story fantastic and the characters are spot on. It gets a bit grindy and repetitive by the end, specially if you're going for the 100% achievements. The live-service thing was a mistake and the success of the game (or lack of it) payed for it. Will never understand this characters skins thing. Who need hundreds of skins for the characters?

It's not like I really want the game at all (I've heard it gets really dull really fast), it's just that it's harder to say no when it costs less than a dollar and I know it's going away for good, for that price even if I only squeeze a couple of hours of fun from it it'll be fine.

Yes, absolutely, specially considering the sale being talked about. It's not a hard game, and it can get a bit repetitive by the end, or grindy if you're going for 100%. But I rather enjoyed the combat, nonetheless, with each character having its own differentiated skill set of powers. It isn't a one button smash fest, with a lot of combos to find and explore, but not hard to master.
Still, it has a great story and the characters are spot on. This, i loved, being kind of a 'marvel geek'. Really a shame, because it could have been an amazing game, if the dev would have focused on the single player, instead of making it a live service.
But again, absolutely worth it, at this price.

If your level is at least Bronze XP, (spent $1 before) then the price will be $4.80. There's also a 2% off voucher in your account's XP bonus pack that can be stacked on top of it to bring it down to $4.70. Voucher expires Aug. 31.
If you've never bought anything from the site, then you can request an invite to XP on their discord channel. Or you can ask someone that's an XP tier to send you an invite code, they should have 3 squad up invites to give out per month.
Here's what it came out to for me with Bronze XP and the voucher.
Game will be delisted on Sep. 30, but SP and MP play will still be available.
