I'm 100% positive that there are numerous people with way more want to play Evolve than I could ever possess.
(If I could give my copy away for free to someone who can't afford/can't get the game, I surely would, but we all know Steam's policies etc :( )

It's quite understandable that a company (either the developer or publisher) may want to give a perk to their loyal CUSTOMERS. People that get a game for free from some promotion are not customers, and thus haven't earned that incentive, if the intent is to rewards loyal customers.

Strange. Evolve is in my library, too, and I don't have any record of doing something that should have given it to me. Nothing in the Steam client or on the Evolve store page indicates it's free for the weekend or anything; in fact, it's apparently not available until Feb. 10, ~3.5 months from now. I'd have to guess that this is some sort of bug and someone will correct it eventually.

Ah, that would explain it. I do have two XCOM games in my library. Any additional details on this? Like do we have to install it to keep it, or do we own it forever now? Or is it a temporary thing since it's an alpha, like we it for a limited time and then it goes away and we'd have to buy the full release?

I haven't had the chance to play any of the XCOM games that I own, my backlog is massive... :(
I'm currently downloading Evolve, it should be finished by the time the alpha period is over. lol (I have a massive backlog but I have TERRIBLE internet speeds... I can't win... >_< )

they said anyone who has xcom, but i guess they aren't counting x-com ufo defense, x-com terror from the deep, x-com apocalypse, x-com interceptor, or x-com enforcer since i have all 5 of those but no free evolve alpha. i would have xcom enemy unknown too, but green man gaming's login system sucks and it's stuck on my gmg account instead of my playfire account which is the one that has my steam account linked. if this free evolve thing wasn't alpha-only i'd be upset.
