Hi everyone! I've been inspired by others from the community to create my first puzzle giveaway, so here it is. It includes the following 3 games:

These are games that are personally meaningful because of all the happy memories they bring me, and I hope you enjoy them as well πŸ˜ƒ.

The giveaways are linked sequentially and you need to solve a series of puzzles (which are presented as "dreams") to get to them. Solving the first puzzle will take you to the first game. There you'll find the second puzzle that has the path to the second game, and same thing for the 3rd puzzle/game.

The giveaways end on December the 25th (the day of my birthday :P). Thanks to all participants, and to everyone in the community for your good vibes.

One final note

My opinion is, of course, as subjective and biased as can be, but I do think these puzzles are not difficult. Pretty much anyone should be able to solve them with some effort.

I added hints just in case, but they are not strictly necessary to find the solutions. If you perhaps want a harder challenge, try solving them without reading them 😏.

Enjoy!

Update 2021-11-30: I've updated the text for the 3rd dream, since it was kind of confusing, and not in a good way :). I feel much better about that puzzle in its current form so check it out if you are currently stuck in it.

1st dream

I slept and dreamt of days long gone, when I spent most of my time playing computer games with my friends from college.

We used to play Quake III a lot, which I really liked given that I could play it quite comfortably in the very, very crappy laptop I carried around those days.

What a joy to be again with my old piece-of-junk laptop, jumping around, shooting rockets. At first it was a challenge, as I had to learn to relax the eyes to avoid getting sick from the simple act of trying to see the 3D action on screen. But once that hurdle was overcome, I was having the time of my life.

Suddenly, a strange game mode started in a map I hadn't seen before. Now, I'm no cartographer, much less an artist, but here's the best representation I can give you of the map (geometry can be pretty weird in a dream):

All I knew about this strange mode, was that I had figure out where I was, and how to get out of there. If only I had some directions...

I started to wake up from the dream and although everything started to get fuzzy, a picture got stuck in my mind. It is the last thing I saw before my dream ended. See attached image.

My pleasure.

Good luck with the puzzles. There's still the suspense that a few people have made progress but no one seems to have reached the end yet πŸ˜„.

Thanks the puzzle and GA!
Stuck on the 3rd, I think I will wait for the hints :P

The 3rd puzzle has its quirk, yeah. Right now it's confusing unless you know some arbitrary factoid of musical theory. I'll try to rework its description to make it a bit more fair while preserving the spirit of the puzzle.

In any case, one person has reached the end already, so it's not impossible by any means 😁.

i don't get it :)

I can totally relate to that feeling. Many puzzles seem completely impenetrable at first. Don't worry, take your time and you'll be able to tame it :)

image gives a link to GA somehow?

Something like that. But notice that the image is not the only piece of data at your disposal.

Having trouble making out the first character...I have the, uh, other, er, directional stuff.

NM, brute-forced it until I figured out the correct starting character. ;)

In the puzzle description there's a sentence that suggests how to use it =) You'll figure it out, I'm sure.

Do we really have to break our eyes and "see the 3D" in a picture with a resolution of 992x279 or is it an illusion and am I missing something?

Heh, something like that, although it's not really my intention that you "break your eyes". On the contrary, relax =)

I have no problems with 3D pictures, but with this resolution I made my eyes hurt and I could not see anything clearly. Unfortunately I miss it, thanks for the interesting puzzle idea anyway πŸ˜€

No worries. I've read that some have solved it without straining their eyes, but using "tools". I don't know which exactly, or how they work, but maybe that helps.

The first puzzle was solved.
The next puzzle was impossible to think logically because the space translator sometimes malfunctioned and would not post the correct document.

I'm going to watch in silence.

I haven't seen any problems with the spaces, but if it's not letting you read the puzzle maybe you can inspect the page source and copy the text into Notepad or something that lets you read it properly.

I hope you figure it out =)

It was simple to find 5 key components, but now it's very hard to understand what to do with that information :/ I'm sure that I missing something or just don't see it or I've found wrong "key components" :D...

It seems you're on the right track. Read the puzzle again and you'll notice there's something in italics, that is an important hint. There's also the hints at the end. I'm sure you can solve it =)

I can't figure out the 3rd puzzle as well. I have read the italics and don't know what to do with them. I have read the hints, but they don't help. I don't know anything about music either.

I understand. It's meant to be challenging, but doable.

If you don't know anything about music, don't worry. You'll have to investigate a little, but nothing too complicated. That's where the text in italics and the hints come in.

If you still need help, I can offer this:

  • The website where the song for the 3rd puzzle is hosted (onlinesequencer) is pretty neat. Take note of the symbols associated to each row in the main area. Those symbols represent notes, and thanks to that visualizer you can easily keep track of the notes that are being played. You should be able to notice 5 elements that stand out. 5 elements... I'm sure you can imagine where this is going... =)
  • However, just having those notes is not enough. There is an extra translation step involved. That is where the BACH motif is important. Google it. Once you understand what the BACH motif is, and why those letters (B, A, C, H) are relevant, you'll have the key to translate those 5 notes.
  • Finally, use the decoding wheel (the image attached to the puzzle).

Finally solved! Thanks!
I think it was like - oh! finding these 5 elements was easy, solution is near, but I was looking in the wrong direction :)
