Hey guys, I've got a problem :
My problem is that I have PS2's gamepad and needful wire for it to properly connect it to my PC. Most of games nowdays can be played by a gamepad but its default settings recognise all the buttons in a wrong way :(

I've tried to use Xpadder for it, but seems like the only way to play with it is by editing gamepad's buttons as keyboard's keys that was edited from original gamepad? It seems too weird

So, is there anyway to make some default setting of PS2's gamepad for every game?

I use x360ce to emulate a xbox360 gamepad, then configure my PS2 gamepad, save the config, and copy in every game that I want to use with my PS2 gamepad ;)
But this only work if the game have a gamepad support :D

(Sorry if I have gramatical errors)

Hum, what do you mean by "in a wrong way".
I bought an adaptor on eBay and my PS2 gamepads are working good.
All the buttons are well recognized.

I mean like "up" would be recognized as "down" and etc.
What soft do you use? :0

I don't use any soft.
Just plug and play.
Well, i guess it depends on the game.

If up and down are the only 2 things that reversed, try looking for a "reverese axis" option in the game.

for me it's more likely up is left, left is down.

the reverse axis option doesn't always work. i've had the same problem for say, Batman: Arkham asylum and it would do it properly on the map but would go up when i pressed right. Using the X360CE didn't work neither, had to reprogram their xinput file thingy so it would work properly :P

on topic though: generally a ps2 gamepad + adapter should work perfectly fine if you use the X360CE on games that support gamepads. there are a few exceptions to this rule, but generally the solution can be found on the steam forums (especially the Dark Souls one).

You'd probably be better off switching controllers.
I recommend:

Microsoft Xbox 360 controller (wired or wireless with adapter for Windows)

Logitech USB gamepad that looks similar to a ps2 controller.

A PS3 controller wired in.

Try x360ce and if that doesn't work, just get a real xbox 360 controller.

Xbox 360 controllers are now obsolete, and they always had garbage d-pads. Xbox One and PS4 controllers blow them away, so I don't know why you would recommend 360 over those. Logitech pads are pretty much generic crap compared to Xbox One/PS4 controllers as well.

Ordered a Logitech gamepad a few days ago. It looks like a PS2 controller, but all the buttons are xbox style which is great since most games use xbox buttons. Reviews were good and it was on sale for less than $20.

Are you getting the error where the PC recognizes the analog stick inputs but they're upside down and can't be reversed? o_O

I get that error on my gamepad and I can't find a fix for it anywhere! >_<

X360ce, that will work on almost any game

Does it mean that I have to put keyboard's keys on my gamepad, even the game itself supports a gamepad? :\

No. It causes games to recognize your pad as an xbox 360 pad, which most modern games will handle (sometimes the only thing they will handle.) You can then use its configuration to map your pad's directions, buttons, etc to the virtual 360 pad that it emulates.

I'm sorry for such a stupid question, but is there any good video tutorial for it or something else? Cause I've recongnised all the buttons, but seems like it doesn't work for me :(

This is what I've been doing for a while, but it's not exactly plug and play.

i guess this is not the answer you want to hear but if you want to do it the least hassle-fre, you should get an xbox 360 controller, otherwise im afraid you are stuck with alternative solutions

Aye, just get a wired 360 controller. Its a great PC controller.

Yep, you can get an unbranded one from ebay for around 20 dollars including shipping.
The one I got 3 years ago still works.
Plug and play, no additional software required

Don't get 360 controllers or generic crap. Get an Xbox One or PS4 controller.

If you like sony's controller layout more than microsoft's layout, getting a cheap ps3 controller will work with PC when connected via USB.

Otherwise get a cheap xbox360 controller as others have suggested here. Keep in mind that xbox 360 control pad is hard to use for fighting games like street fighter/ king of fighters.

"If you like sony's controller layout more than microsoft's layout"

even better is to get a PC controller with a PS layout, I use the logitech F310, which has direct and x inputs and is rather cheap, plug-and-play and ready to go for just about any steam/pc game with controller support.

Have you tried DS4Tool (1.2.2) ?
It work perfectly with my DualShock4 (i had the same "layout" problem but fixed now, and more :D), perhaps it will work with your old DS2.

I cannot with good conscience recommend any of these keypad programs. X360CE, Keypadder, Joy2Key, etc. I could not get ANY of them to work. And uninstalling them was a pain in the royal ass.

i use motioninjoy for the drivers but i use a really cool and easy-to-use software called "better ds3" to configure the controls and etc.
