Only just scraping three years myself and I neglected you lovely lot for about two of those three. I'm a wee bit more active these days though & I'm sorry I missed out on what is generally speaking a warm and friendly community :)

I don't see CV as a bad thing, even though it's abused a lot.
I still have the ability to select the winners of my giveaways, as few as they are.
Plus, selecting at least a minimum amount of CV when creating a giveaway, reduces the chances that the guy who will win the giveaway will actually be an asshole and not activate the game and lots of other things. :)
tl;dr CV is a good thing in my opinion.

I get kinda nostalgic like that. And it's not only 3 years, for me that's quite a big period of time.
I always liked things which are not available to everyone, and invite only system made this community special in my eyes.

I've never been a part of something exclusive so, sadly i can't relate.
Except for this torrent website from my country, but i still had to pay a guy some money to get an invite a few years ago, and it went free for all recently so i guess it doesn't count. :)

I joined about a month after i created my one and only steam account.
In the first days, i didn't even think people do this kind of stuff on the internet, but i somehow got into my first giveaway on the steam forums...i won a small, bundle game, but the important thing was that i learned the term "giveaway".
After that, honestly i think my google search history for quite a while was mostly "steam key giveaway; free steam key; etc" xD

Without CG or someone else with database access looking up the timestamp, no - fairly sure it's not displayed anywhere. Instead we get the vague "friendly" time (I personally like to display the true date in a title attribute when doing that, if it's not shown elsewhere)

I've registered on this site three long years ago and I loved every part of it. Back then invites were still mandatory for registration (the good times). I wasn't really active at the site when it comes to forums(I'm still not) but I do remember a few things.
The huge Skyrim hype when it was released and everyone saying thanks for skyrim, the big fortix event where devs gave as many copies as the users, steamgifts being really laggy and switching servers to better performing ones, a bug which prevented anyone from logging to the site(one user found a way to login by messing around with the url), trading cards with user avatars and lots of other stuff.
This is probably my favourite and most used site after google and youtube :D Thanks for being such a great community. I love you all.
