Also, is that not the wrong cover for Pool of Radiance? I thought it looked like this, while the one shown here is for the sequel, Ruins of Myth Drannor

You also bought them? There must be a year's worth of playtime in there.

Yep. I had the AD&D games on my wishlist for quite some time and was waiting for a sale. Out of the eight 'games' in the pack. seven were on my wishlist so getting them now was a no-brainer :)

Is that this pack?

Yep. I did not really want to buy every single game in there, but well, it was either all or smaller discount.

I've been eyeing those games. Now that they're all together in a pack I think I may get it.

There are some real gems in there. Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 have stood the test of time well (I played them around the time Legend of Grimrock was released, and had not played them before). The first Ravenloft game is good, but not outstanding (not played the second one yet), and I've heard good things about the Goldbox series, but have very limited experience with them. Also, the Dark Sun series is a bit like a proto-Baldur's Gate. They're not as good as the Infinity engine games, but they are relatively similar.

You talked me into it. I just picked it up. :)

The Dark sun games are still some of my favorite RPGs of all time. They're mind-blowingly good in many ways, even now..
..but also mind-blowingly buggy. I've never managed a complete playthrough of either of the games, across dozens of playthroughs, since, invariably, you will always find a game-breaking bug [where a plot-relevant trigger doesn't activate correctly].

such a waste- I'd gladly, enthusiastically play them again even now, but my last 6 attempts at shattered lands, I couldn't even make it out of the bloody sewers. -.-
(And that's the point where I gave up on ever managing a full runthrough :X)

How much XP did you get for the purchase? To try and get an idea of how much you have to spend to unlock the free games. Doing all the badges and checking in the 14 days, should get you 4,500 XP so you would need 500 more to unlock Spelunky, unless they add more badges or other ways to get XP later.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It would actually get you 4400, unless I missed a check in. There's a badge for when you have 5 check in's, that might give you 500 xp, but it's still 4900, so for spelunky my guess would be to buy one game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ah yes, the amount you get from getting "High Five!" is not that clear, I missed the "/ check-in" so I thought you'd get 100 XP from doing 5 check-ins.

The D&D Classics set gives you 22440 XP

So around 100 XP for each 10 cents of a dollar, unless the price for the pack is different in your region (it shows $22.4 here).

I have it set to SEK right now, and converting exp to SEK is not quite as simple. The pack cost me 183,6 SEK, but if google is to be believed, 183,6 SEK=$22,6

Depends on the value of the game bought, but i'd say roughly 1000XP per 1€ spend there, took a quick look and, as example, Hotline Miami 2 costs €5.09 there and gives 5100XP, and others are roughly similar, with usually more XP rounded up than down.

GOG doesn't give steam keys so I don't see why System Shock 2 would be removed from the giveaway list.

Basically, you can "check in" each day for 100 XP, complete a few tasks once for XP, and then purchase games for more. :)

I got the game. If someone is wondering, you do NOT get a steam key. You'll need to install the game directly from the GoG servers, no key/serial number required.

I am reluctant to give +1 download to a windows client. I don't want to show GOG that I agree with downloading a windows version.
But the hell with it. maybe I'll do it later on wine.

As a dual boot Win7/Linux user it makes more sense to have a more completed client and focusing on it before porting it to other platforms. What is the point of having such an unfinished client on Linux? For me you are just being inpatient.
Just weeks ago the client couldn't even launch Witcher 3 properly so for the Universe sake, give them time.

4400 points is what you receive from all the check-ins and other junk.

100 points = .10 cents so .60 cents, $10.60 and $25.60 required to reach each tier.

I got an extra 500XP somehow. Have 3600 with 1/14 check-ins.

It's also worth noting that everyone will get some free XP if GOG's "Twitch Plays" challenges are achieved, so potentially free Spelunky for all! That's detailed in their announcement.

GOG Plays on Twitch.tv/GOGcom
Join us for the grand Twitch plays event and help achieve greatness in Stardew Valley and Grim Fandango Remastered. For every challenge we complete everyone will get an extra XP boost. The first, Stardew Valley, event begins Thursday, June 9, at 4:00 PM UTC – where you will be tasked with the greatest feat of all: to plant a Parsnip. It's going to be all kinds of ridiculous.

Not at the moment. GOG Connect only applies to certain games for a limited window of time. For the next few days those titles are: Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, Door Kickers and Kona.

so if you don't sync while the game is up on Gog you miss out on getting them ?

I assumed it' would be an open offer.

Maybe that explains why i'm seeing a server overload error atmo on the gog connect page ,loads of peeps must be trying to get the games before the offer for certain games is pulled from gog.

SORRY, WE ENCOUNTERED AN UNEXPECTED ERROR DUE TO HIGH TRAFFIC

Please return to this page and try again in a few hours.

Yes, unfortunately. That's the only way they could get publishers to agree to it. The first batch of ~24 games was valid for 5 days, and for the first couple days the page was constantly overloaded.

Completing all the individual tasks falls short of the 5000 XP needed to receive a free copy of Spelunky.

For every challenge we complete everyone will get 300 XP, regardless of whether they participated or not. An 100 XP boost will be handed out as consolation prize should we fail our objective. But that's not gonna happen. Right?

Bought a few items from my wish list, was enough to earn me Dreamfall Chapters. Funny enough, one of the games I bought was Dreamfall.
Even if Chapters is a bundle game, it was nice to get it for essentially free. ^.^ ♥

The sale itself is a little mediocre, but there are a few gems at 75% or more here and there.
