Wow. I oddly used it for the first time today. Don't really have many games, and even bought 10 cheapies, finished them all already.

Once upon a time, when I was still running a card bot, I could profit a few cents by buying csgo keys in the game and reselling them on the community market.
I did it enough to be able to farm 2988 csgo cards. Those alone, took me around 6 months with ASF.

But thankfully to Archie, nowadays my time is "-"

Side comments: several hundred of those CSGO cards I used to trade with steamcardexchange to expand the bots inventory... When I pulled the plug on the bot, I just sold the rest.

ASF was a little to much for me to setup, but IdleMaster shows I have 287 card drops left... I went ahead and let it start running... gotta enable those booster packs after all.

When I was using one of these software programs in the past, I enjoyed Idlemaster a lot because you could press next next next and in 10 ish minutes I would have 70 or so card drops.

I think it was idling like 35 games at once at one point(if not more)

regardless I have 0 card drops left now, got 3 foils from it... one I sold instantly for a buy order of..... drumrolls 3 cents... so I got a penny(otherwise I could join the queue of 81 sell orders at 4 cents... penny now... or an additional penny in a few years wasn't a hard choice lol(completing foil badges... not worth it... maybe for the nekopara badges I will consider(<3 the nekos)... but on the flipside... those sets are like $15+...)

one went up for 50 cents, the other 99(both I'm cheapest listing now). here's to hoping they sell. all the other non foils... will sit around and maybe get crafted one day into a badge after I earn booster packs. might need to look at those 1:1 bots to try and complete some sets.

Generally takes 30 minutes for cards to drop ... rare occasion up to 2 hours.

At 30 minutes per card you are looking at over 9 months!

i don't like people cheating - people should earn games to play not make a few cents

That's quite a take from a person who has more than 20 000 of gameplay hours in casual games released starting from 2016, which counts down to more than 8 hours per day and haS nOTHIng TO DO wIth idlING ThEm.

it does not because if you look i only ever play a few of them and sometimes i leave them on over night yes but i don't play 5 minutes in as many games as possible just to make a few cents selling cards

oh and where does it say i played 20,000 hours?

edit: two of the games which i play most adventure capitalist and crush crush can't be idol-ed one is free so you only got cards by spending money and the other has no cards (I think) at all but is also very also i don't and never have sold cards or anything on the market place anyway

oh and where does it say i played 20,000 hours?

There are a few sites where you can check that information, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Here (23.716 hours played) and here (25,266h), for example.

For cards to drop you have to play more than 5 minutes, I think. TBH, I rarely use the Steam marketplace at all, I do use ASF to farm the cards in the hopes that one day I'll be able to sort the mess of my Steam inventory and craft badges (I'm still not sure if it's better to do it during sales or whenever you want), I'm not interested in a few cents profit, I'd rather have badges and whatever drops with them (emoticons, backgrounds).

Regarding playing 5 minutes in as many games as possible, since I bought the Steam Deck I've been playing a lot more than before. It's quite easy to install any game from my inventory, try it for 5 minutes and decide if it's any good (sometimes it takes less than 5 minutes to immediately think "oh gosh, this one is terrible" :p).

Anyway, that's my case, ymmv.

if people can use this cheat legal or not so easy why not just give you the max amount of cards when you first start the game?

Yep, just what devotee said above (but I just manually summed up some top playing time games).

and sometimes i leave them on over night

This is what idling is, it's just that you do it not for cards, but for some other, probably non-monetary or in-game value. Not that much of a difference IMO.

I wouldn't blame a person who idles cards that they win games on SG just for those cents - it's just far easier to farm everything than sort out games you would like to play from games you bought in a bundle or games you got via some promotion. I'd probably did the same if I didn't care about having hundreds of often shitty games indicating non-zero playtime on my account.

One thing that would genuinely piss me off would be someone getting games on SG just for card farming, but you can't really guess the intention behind the winner.

One thing I'm sure about though is you definitely not winning games on SG for idling :)

While I don't mind what other people do with their libraries, I can agree with you that idling brings out regrets. I've idled some games back in <2016 when I had a small library, and now navigating my library is much harder. Some shovelware I did not intend to play is now showing ~5 hours of playtime and mixing up with other games I touched a bit and dropped. If only I could reset the counters on those..

Problem is, that this using glitches / exploits which are forbidden due Steam TOS. ArchiSteamFarm doesn't use this and is still fast as fuck. I mean, if you are through with your idling backlog, new games get farmed fast then if you have ASF running 24/7 on a VPS / raspberry pi or whatever.

And ASF doesn't interfere in a shitty way like IdleMaster and maybe also Idle Daddy. ASF just uses SteamKit / Steamapi and there is no difference than idling manually.

At least IdleMaster could give you a VAC ban and ASF doesn't.

IMHO time and speed is negligible and security is more important. ASF is OpenSource, you can check the code yourself or make modifications :)

ASF is more suited for managing well a farm of multiple Steam accounts e.g. from a few dozen to a few thousand for card farming. For dropping cards from a single account Idle Master Extended is far superior. You can watch me here using the "shaking the tree" method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT_bFp6klWQ

should be quite the same thing i've noticed that with ASF too: closing it, usually it drops a card.
thanks for video, bud!

question: what's the use on having multiple accounts to farm cards if you have to get rid of limitations charging/spending 5$?

thanks to anyone helping this noob!

True, ASF could implement this faster method, but it intentionally don't since they "consider it as exploiting/abusing non-intended behaviour through excessive Steam network requests" (https://github.com/JustArchiNET/ArchiSteamFarm/wiki/Performance#steam-glitches)

Considering there's even a dedicated support forum in Russian language, maybe it wasn't on purpose but just some kind of technical issue? https://steamcommunity.com/groups/archiasf/discussions/8

I asked Ryzhehvost about it, he said:

AFAIK there is no block for russia in ASF

So if it doesn't work, could it be due to your government blocking some things? A VPN might be necessary in this case.
