So, a while back, I joined a guild that loved to play the F2P games because not everyone had money to waste, and we all had a great time. A few months ago, the leader left and hasn't been on it 80 days now... So I decided to take over, and rebuild us... The problem is, I don't want to play Fallen Earth over and over, and most of our members got bored of it. So I want to know, what is the Steamgifts community's favorite F2P MMO? This means no TF2 for hat sharing....

The ones I've checked out are:

  • Vanguard: Saga of Heroes #3

  • Continent of the Ninth Seal

  • Everquest

  • Everquest II #2

  • Dungeons and Dragons Online

  • Lord of the Rings Online #1

  • Pandora Saga: Weapons of Balance

  • TERA Online (recommended by user)

  • DC Universe (recommended by user)

So, look at these games, and if anyone has played them, then tell me what you think and debate amongst the other members so I can choose which one is better...

Do NOT say these games here as we have already played them or we don't want to play them.

  • APB Reloaded

  • Vindictus

  • Fallen Earth

  • Planetside 2

  • Realm of the Mad God

  • Gotham City Imposters

  • Forsaken World

  • Tribes: Ascend

  • Dragon Nest

I played LOTRO....I found it nice but I got bored after a while...since I didnt want to pay anything,I had to do a lot of grinding for turbine points(which is extremely boring if you have to do it alot)...With a group it might be nice..

I don't think Steam has any like that, it's not too bad though... I never had a problem with creating an account on another website...

just play Tera best online game made in many years i played it in beta and when it came out, the combat system and the world are just amazing and since the game is based on skill not how fast you can spamm a button it's even more amazing , but requires a pretty good computer to run smoothly i stopped playing it because Mist's of pandaria came out but im gonna go back to Tera as soon as it goes F2P. if you want to try something ''new'' and amazing i recommend Tera, if you are willing to Grind and explore.

I'll try Tera when it's F2P, right now, everyone seems to like LoTRO so that's what I'll try...

Realm of the mad god A hard-mode one difficulty permadeath top down game , APB Reloaded a bit of a bitch to setup but totally worth it. ( free roam completely mess around pair you up with others with your skill level ) *, and Tribes: Ascend, It' possibly one of the best and most versatile fps games i've seen for quite a while since the first tribes.

RotMG, meh...

APB Reloaded, won't run on my laptop...

Tribes: Ascend, not open world...

Neither is Dragon Nest, since MMOs aren't inherently open-world games and could be instanced. So if you want that, you should put it in your topic post in the first place.

Tera is going F2P next month, instead of that trial

"From now on, only mention the three games I just said if you have something BAD about them"

LotR:O is an absolute grindfest when playing for free if I can remember correctly.
When you get to a certain point, you have to unlock more content with special money (which you can buy).
If you don't buy it, it takes loads of quests to get enough of that currency to progress.

EDIT: As for the other games, I don't think Global Agenda was mentioned. It's decent and fun if you like third-person TF2-style class based combat in a PvP focused MMO game (though there is quite a bit of PvE too).

I would recommend 2 MMORPG and a Dungeon Crawler for you to check out.

1º In the F2P Field: Runes of Magic - Awesome community, WoW clone, tons of class combination, Auction House, Raids, Very Hard Dugeons, Guild Hall, Guild perks, Guild Buffs, All you may want. Stopped playing when I bought Guild Wars 2.

2º One time fee Field: Ofc, Guild Wars 2. Best MMORPG (non-Wow Clone) ever made, with epic Guild Stuff as the name tells. For a fee of 33 euros you have hundreds of hours of stuff to do. Especially epic PvP and World vs World.

3ª Dungeon Crawler (aka Diablo Clone): Path of Exile - Great game in all aspects, great customisation of your char traits, loads of stuff to do, great game.

That's All.

Tera is neat too, but meh...

Just adding. LotR ain't that good as stated before, its a grind fest of boringness unless you actually pay money for it. If you're gonna pay, LotR is a very bad option.

If you like turn based game, I would suggest you try out Atlantica Online, it's a great F2P mmorpg. :)

Spiral Knights is a F2P MMORPG from SEGA and Three Rings that is different from any other MMO game you know, for instance, what you level up is not your stats but your gear.

The community is awesome and if you join a friendly guild, you'll get to know many people and have a great time.

The game is on Java which means that it doesn't melt your PC and the gameplay is nice.

One thing that should be noted is that it uses a energy system that limits your playing unless you buy more energy with in-game currency.

DCUO is great fun in groups.

I once led a group through a field of mobs, looking for Killer Frost. She likes to fly around, land someplace, fight for a bit, then take off and choose another random spot.

Our lowest level team member had flight as his travel power, so I told him to get in the air and get eyes on Killer Frost and help direct us toward her. We figured out where she flew through often, so we camped under there and kept our attention focused on keeping our chosen spot clear of hostiles.

Our man in the air let us know when to look up. Once we confirmed that we heard him, he him hit her and landed in our spot. He blocked her attacks (hold shift to increase defense) while our tank gained aggro.

Some mobs respawned, so I stepped out to AOE them and drag them next to Killer Frost, then we all switched to AOE attacks until the adds were dead.

After the adds were dead, the fight wasn't hard at all. The trouble was in coordinating everyone. Once they understood what part of the machine they were, Killer Frost was ours.

I'm on an AMD Phenom II x4. It's a quad core 3.2GHz. RAM is 4GB. The on-board video on my motherboard is an ATI Radeon HD 4200. My desktop PC currently lacks a dedicated video card, because the fan bearings on the card decided to lock up. I have DCUO running smooth with dozens of other players onscreen, if I use the lowest 16:10 resolution with almost everything turned down. It is likely that your laptop can run at higher visual quality than my system currently can.

Everquest II is beyond amazing! So much to do, so little time:) I've only played Vanguard for 30 minutes and then uninstalled and went back to Everquest.

Oh, almost forgot about DC universe. Now that was a fun game to play! But Everquest feels bigger...and I suppose it is ;)
