Glancing through the suggestions I'd second Luther, very good Idris Elba role.
Any other actor in the role probably would have been cancelled on season 1.
I haven't seen Lucifer, but looks interesting with likable characters.

White Collar. It's only 4 seasons. It's got the detective aspect you like. Final season is a bit bland, but the first 3 are great.

I like detective shows like Sherlcok, Elementary, Psych, Mentalist and Monk. I also like shows like Young Sheldon, Bib Bang Theory and Community. I have watched 2 Avatar shows.I don't like superhero shows and shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
