Does this game offer anything significantly different from D&D Online, WoW, LOTRO etc. ?

I played RO for about 6 years before finally cashing out. I have never spent a single dollar on Steam except on humble bundle. It all came from trading RO equips in return for steam wallet and csgo keys. It was a fun games, but got boring towards the end. Still... 6 years was a long time for me.

Marvel: War of Heroes
If you were thinking about trying it, don't. Because it's coming to an end next month and there's nothing going on right now (going to be deleted).

The game itself looks interesting, I passed on joining the closed beta because at that time they had no way to make an account with them without logging in through facebook (and maybe google). Also, if you have noscript on when the page is loading you need to allow it before it fully loads or it sends you to an enable javascript page you can't hit the back button from (or just allow from recently blocked websites). Curious where this falls in the p2w realm as in what game it is most comparable to.

While TOS may be considered a spiritual successor to the Ragnarok it's just not new Ragnarok. With that out of the way, I've been very hyped about this game for a long time. However it seems like it's going to be either pay to win or very inconvenient for people who wont keep buying those tokens and what not and now I'm not sure do I want want to bother giving it a try.

It seems like it's going to be a very good game for people who don't mind their wallets being milked, but not so much for people who either don't intend to spend money on the game or don't intend to spend a huge amount.
