Why do I feel like not many people use Steam Gifts?

It just occurred to me while browsing steam just how many people actually use steam. Then I wondered why I had never seen numbers even relatively near that on Steam Gifts. Why is this? Do people just not know about it?

If you see how many people enter (public) giveaways, you know that lotsa people know about SG!!

At first I wasn't sure about making my profile public, because normally I don't make a lot information about me public in the internet and before this I knew all my friends in Steam also in real life (Strange, isn't it? ;)).
I gave it a try and in three weeks only one strange person wanted to add me, so I think it's okay ;)

You only have to make your profile public to sync once a week. You don't have to keep it that way if you don't want to.
