Sending a CD key instead of a Steam gift?

I currently have a Dirt 3 CD key I'm going to use, was wondering if there's anything against emailing the winner a CD key rather than gifting the game through Steam, as I can't add it my library since I already own it.

None, as long as it's a Steam CD-key (Which Dirt 3 keys are) then yeah you're good to go.

Yeah, I own it and it's a Steam key, just can't add it to my account because I already have Dirt 3.

If you Google a Section of the Key's, you'll find this isn't the only place the keys were posted, so most, if not all, have already been found.
