It will need to run through UPlay regardless if steam is running or not.

You will pretty much run through uplay. Also , pre ordering is a mistake.

Ha! I thought this was going to be one of those threads asking what bad pre-orders they've purchased.

Uplay is bad enough without preordering. Good luck getting the multiplayer to work for the first week.

Since Watch Dogs I really try to avoid pre ordering something made by Ubisoft.
