This will be a more serious thread about the current state of the Steamgifts community.

I registered on this site over 2 years ago. Looking to get some free games, I quickly gave up and left.

More than a year ago I returned to this site and started giving games away more regularly and I began interacting with all of you.
It was awesome. It was truly the best community I'd ever seen. Everyone got along, there wasn't much drama. People said what they had on their mind and most disagreements were solved by either agreeing to disagree, or by seeing the other side of the coin.

While, of course, it wasn't perfect, it was still awesome. Blacklists happened, of course. There were still shitposts and trolls (Looking at you, Konrads. May you rest in peace.). But even though they existed, it was still overshadowed by the interesting discussions, friendly users and random people who wanted to know if they could give their wins away to their grandma's account.

Nowadays, I've really stayed away from the discussions. It seems that every day there's a new shitpost. Trolls are becoming popular and interesting conversations and discussions seem to be less and less each day.
Constructive criticism, or even simple jokes are retaliated with random blacklists and actual reporting. It's insane to see this kneejerk reactionary mindset seep into this community.

I decided to be a bit more active and had a look around the discussions a few days ago. Memes, random shouts and so on were the majority of some discussions. Discussions that aren't just random shitposts either.
I decided to comment on a few of them. A day later, I had received a bunch of blacklists and more than a few angry comments. Now, of course, there was a whopping 2 friendly and useful comments there too. Also, it's not like a good comment should agree with me. Instead, I expect something constructive and useful, like it used to be.

Now, blacklists of course aren't the thing that I'm complaining about. What I'm worried about is the idea that seeing a differing opinion now means an instant blacklist. That doesn't deter me, but the attitude does.

I've seen 4 users be suspended for things that weren't bad. Things like legit criticisms, that were being received by others as harmful. Things like not agreeing with others. That's just not right in my eyes.

Maybe I'm wrong on this. Maybe in reality, I'm the guy that people don't like.
I would like to know what you think. The question presented is one that can be answered in a binary way, but I'd like to hear more, if you can be bothered to elaborate on why you chose what you chose.

Thank you for reading this.

Has SG's community become more fragile and triggered over minor things and things that don't matter? (This is a legit question, no potato this time.)

I think this might be a bad timing for this thread. We've already had 3 big Make SG great again threads this week which all turned into gigantic shitstorms and I think everybody has
a) gotten their negative feelings off their chest for now
b) become bored of it for now or
c) been suspended.

Also adressing the suspensions again will inevitably end in tears.

Hmm, I haven't been able to spot those threads. Going through the discussions even now hasn't gotten me to a single post with this kind of topic. The discussions that I've looked through go up to 1 week of being bumped.

Also, it's not like we need negative feelings. If people feel positive feelings about the community, then by all means. I'm very happy to see that people enjoy things, even if I don't enjoy them personally. The text there was my two cents on the matter and I truly do encourage people to give theirs too.

EDIT: I see you've edited your comment.
The suspensions were just an example of the kneejerk reactions that many users have in my eyes. I'm not saying to unsuspend anyone. The staff did what was right in their eyes. Even if I don't agree, it's fine because they're probably more aware of what's going on and who to suspend.

Some time ago, I created a change.org petition about Steam being involved as a CSR business (obviously I failed) but on it I wrote:

"Found on gaming my own "support group", in sites like Steamgifts or Steam Forums, people like me, who wants change their communities for better, to improve in certain ways the human life, to achieve full potential on each human being."

Hope this can sums up somehow how I felt about steamgifts in the past, and still believe somehow this site can be going in future.
