Doing GA's is a little bit different for everyone.
A lot of people like puzzles for entry. Sometimes they are jigidi puzzles, sometimes using itstoohard to generate quizzes, or using various other methods of masking information. (There are some great posts on here to help you make and solve these types of GAs)
There are public only, which can only be limited by level and/or region.
And then forum GA's are often protected by sgtools (or puzzles), or plain invites.
Sgtools makes it personalized, generally hitting the three checks (multiple, un-activated, and vac) is a good start. When the winner is chosen, you can run it again and make sure there are no infractions in the past month. Or if they already own the game (a real issue for deluxe/collection versions). If they do, you can contact support for a re-roll, it can take a few days.
But hopefully you won't need to do that.
