Lunch Trailer

Following the release of Lone Survivor for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, the designer is bringing the Director's Cut content back to PC and Mac -- and he's doing it in a terrific way. The DLC is going to be free for owners of the horror title and save files from the vanilla Lone Survivor are compatible; you can even swap between the two versions mid-game. Expect this to go out on -- when else? -- October 31, 2013.

"To offset some of the (quite large) costs of making it, I will be having a small price increase on release, although I'll be running a sale for the first couple of days so that it'll still be possible to purchase at the original price before the increase," writes Byrne. "Exact pricing TBA on release day, as I am still talking to the various vendors.

This has been in my backlog forever. Guess I'll just wait until it updates and play the improved version.

Neato! I never really played much of Lone survivor before hand, so this may finally give me the incentive to finally clear it out of my backlog.

Do you think I should play through the original version first, before upgrading to the Director's Cut, or will the DLC be added automatically and prevent this from happening? Maybe they'll do something like Beat Hazard did with its Ultra DLC, where they'll let you select between the vanilla and Director's versions of Lone Survivor...

Stopped playing halfway through it a long time ago. Nice incentive to get me back to it. And great of the dev making it a free DLC.

I had to go check whether I owned this game or not... turns out I do. Cool. I guess. Good on the devs.

I'm glad it's free, considering I bought the game a while back and hadn't played it yet. I would have been a bit pissed if I had to re-buy the game to get the full experience.

Awesome news. Don't know if I like the idea about swapping music - old soundtrack was simply amazing.

Lone survivor is kinda 2d Silent Hill. I play it rarely cause the damn game is too scary, still half-way through it atm.

Would recommend it to anyone loving horror genre.
