This is not a Witch Hunt! This is a Duck Hunt!
Do you understand?

You are absolutely correct. The mature response when you suspect that a giveaway is fake, is to message one of the moderators, and they will investigate it properly.
With that said, I would like to suggest a new feature. A report button on each giveaway. When clicked, it will ask you to briefly describe why you are reporting the giveaway, and the report will be sent to a queue where the moderators can investigate it.

Don't you realize that this would flood mods with dozens of suspicion messages each day? Paranoia is bad, but redirecting it's flow from forums to the private message boxes of the mods isn't really a solution. Report button makes more sense than private messages on steam, if only a little more.
The people who received their gifts do not know the pain and suffering of the ones who have been dragged though the dark and hopeless days of waiting for fake giveaways. So their happy chants about the community being a place of love and sharing falls short on our jaded ears and brains filled with paranoia and conspiracy theories...

No, it would not "flood" the moderators. And if there are too many reports to handle, then the solution is to bring on more moderators. I'm sure it would suck up much more of the moderators time to have to manually check every giveaway for comments calling for the gifter's head.

+1 except I will miss seeing cult's comment thanking the submitters in ever giveaway lol. I think that would definitely save the mods some time though, as they would not have to check every forum. Also, they wont recieve 18 PM's about a one suspicious giveaway too.. only 1 with the button.

We're in a community where someone generous decides to give stuff away. Sometimes we have one or two bad apples with fake giveaways, bogus accounts, account thief's, etc. Its inevitable that people would do this, but on the other end, we're also like spies looking for irregularities in accounts or contests to see if it is a fake.
The problem with this is that as soon as something is found we all naturally comment or start a thread about x user being a doodyhead with pants on fire. Now lets say that in some instances the contests legit but flags are raised and this is done. The person who wanted to do something nice would probably be upset, and yes if he's a good sport he'll take the slander in good stride. In addition, the contest gets hurt also with less people entering and if you look closely at the person who threw the blame, entered the contest.
What I want to suggest is that before we attack the person, just ask a mod privately or shoot an email to inbox@steamgifts.com before name calling.
