Hi, I applied for the Paradox Interactive face-saving giveaway after they raised their prices. I picked up Cities: Skylines during the applicable period in Chinese RMB, sent off the proof, and got the personal link last night to have the game of my choice (Tyranny) be directly activated on my Steam account.

Their site tells me Tyranny has been activated on my account, but restarting Steam and even clicking on the link again yields nothing. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with having needed a VPN on when I activated the giveaway on the Paradox link.

Did anyone else who received the personalized URL and link their Steam account already have the game show up in their library?

Did you check your key activations/licenses page?
I don't see it on your account, so it probably get's messed up by the VPN.

Probably. It would try activating Chinese locked version using IP of your VPN, which could fail. Unless you used proxy in one of other countries.

The VPN was using a Japanese server at the time, if that's relevant.

I'm not really sure it works like that, does it?

No idea, but I've made a point to never activate Steam games when my VPN is up ever since I moved to China, just in case it would throw up some red flags. But I guess this one activated through their site.

You taken the repurposed tracking deliverables into account?

Hmm, it did make me log into my Steam account in their browser. This was done while the VPN was on, so I'd think that would give it the same IP as everything else on my computer, right? No clue.
