He is infamous for making some of the worst movies of our time. He made a lot of video game related movies that were panned by everyone, but due to an odd clause in German laws, he could actually make money by making bad movies (the law was meant to promote domestic movie production). Most of the movies he made actually made money for a similar reason to how the people in "The Producers" (as in the musical in which they made a musical about Hitler) intended to make money.

No, it was an elaborate tax evasion method. While I'm no scholar in German law, I know enough about this particular one to know that it was used as a way to evade paying taxes. Money goes in to the movie (from a source that otherwise would be taxed)->movie does not make enough to get taxed (due to their laws meant to encourage smaller domestic production)->money comes out free of tax. This law is no more though, which is we we've not seen much of Uwe as of late.
And don't think it was just small time tax evaders that did this. A good amount of movies were "produced" in Germany (filmed, edited, written and all that good stuff somewhere else) by major foreign film studios in an attempt to not pay as much tax.

I didn't even know he was trying to get funding for a third Rampage. The first one was surprisingly watchable.
As far as his game-based movies go though... Let's just say that Postal is the best of the lot, because it actually manages to keep close to the spirit of the games.

I actually liked Rampage 1 and 2, and Postal was good for a laugh....The rest of his movies, though? I had to rub surgical spirit into my eyes with a cheese grater to get rid of the images.

I only watched Postal for the offensiveness of it, if I'm to be honest, but with me being a small, unsociable, cruel, petty little man, I actually smiled at some of it. There was another movie.....What was it?.......................Oh, yeah! Seed. It was about a serial killer, some of the footage of things in that was pretty gruesome, such as the quick stills showing the death and decomposition of a baby. Maybe it's because I'm a dad now but ever since the birth of my first child, I can't watch stuff like that anymore, not comfortably, anyway, when I used to frequent sites like Gorezone, Ogrish and the like when I was way younger, (Very disturbing sites, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM!!!). I was a very troubled person when I was younger and wanted to try and find something that either shocked me or grossed me out. My goal was attained and I stopped going to them,
