Doesn't having a horrible opinion that you aware of make you evil?

I also believe that humans are inherently evil. Soo... I don't see anything wrong with anyone holding one...

So most of us are kinda like Paarthurnax in that case, born evil overcome the nature.

Another question (if you don't mind): Do evil men know they are evil? If yes, how can they tell if it's an instinct?

If everyone is evil and some don't admit it, that means some don't know that they are. So there really is no instinctual understanding. All comes from observing world.

So overall, humanity is evil but individuals may not. However they're minority and they won't be enough to save the rest, hence the world. We defile the harmony of nature. Evil ones prevent the good to deed. The order will collapse in the end unless something happens to human rule.

This seems dystopic yet feels real.

Technically most of that is 100% true (depending on how you'd define "evil") except for one little bit of reasoning I'd like to disagree with.

Honestly, I'm pretty fed up with the whole "humanity is defiling nature" view that seems to be widely accepted. Humans (and everything that they do) are part of nature. We're just another animal (claiming otherwise is pretty arrogant, tbh). As with all animals, we shape our environment (ant mega-colonies disrupt entire ecosystems but I don't see anyone calling them out on "defiling" nature). As with all animals, we're subject to natural selection (aka, being randomly fucked over by genetics or circumstances). As with all animals, it's survival of "the fittest" (which is why being evil- aka, selfish- is more "rewarding" than being good)... And, as with all other animals, if the environment that lets us keep thriving as a species is ruined (through our actions or otherwise) we'll just... stop thriving. Either way nature doesn't care and the world goes on.
Keeping the environment in a healthy for humans state is entirely to humanity's own benefit but people wanna make themselves look like "the good guys" by claiming it's "for nature". And that's just being dishonest.

Erm, I forgot where I was going with this. Anyway- cats are better than dogs! :P

The difference is that we are self-aware (some other species are, too, but as far as we know not to the same degree). Not everything we do is for survival. Now if we notice that a species is on its way to cease because of our actions, we unfortunately can't ask nature: "Is this what you had in mind?" If it's about survival of them or us, I agree it's survival of the fittest. But if it's not, we are able to find alternative ways, if necessary at all. Deriving an absolution just because we still exist, seems a bit too simple/selfish for me, because we may have overcome a situation when nature tried to get rid of us (e.g. black plague) and because nature doesn't evolve that fast (human history is still pretty short compared to Earth/nature).
However, the worst part of it is that we can't undo most of the things we ruined (yet). Let's pretend the human species would be responsible for 1000 extinct species by now (some directly by hunting or clearing, some indirectly by destroying biospheres or ceasing their prey). On the other hand, did we create any new species? Or did our behaviour at least indirectly help a new species coming to life? We bred the most useful animals and interbred crops, but is that really new? Maybe by genetics at some day, although it would still need to be verified if that helps nature. Now if we'd go on by that, our species would end up alone and face severe issues (missing food, CO2 processing by plants). If that's the ultimate goal of nature, why so much variety and complexity in first place?

I actually wrote humanity because of the statistics since it's a comprehensive word. We most likely did nature bad things than good things overall. I still believe there are more good people than evil, as for quantity. But somehow people who hold power don't seem like to work for nature, all they want is more power. Wish they did more than ostensible charities. Of course that doesn't mean there aren't good people among them.

I think we past survival part long time ago. As humans, we are in control almost everywhere on earth. We still fight each other though. However, on the long run, if we want to survive we must preserve the nature as it is, at least mostly. Everything is connected to each other on so complex levels, if we pull one fiber they all start to loosen. On evolutionary timeline, nature needs more time to fix it than we break it. For fix I mean, fill the blanks more likely.

Also +1 for cats > dogs. :)

This is my go-to video on the subject of why people who hold power seemingly almost never have the people they have power over's interests in mind. It's... pretty depressing. :/

Well, but since humans are indeed part of nature, why can't I honestly claim that "Keeping the environment in a healthy for humans state" is "for nature"?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Woohoo, someone actually got what I was trying to say. XD
(...I think. I'm still not 100% sure what I was trying to say.)

I guess my gripe is that keeping the environment healthy is portrayed as some "humanity vs nature" thing with humanity as the bad guys and what we do as "unnatural". When it's pretty natural (a lot of stuff that humans do to are done on a smaller scale by some animals) no matter how much tech is involved.
Basically, "humans defile the harmony of nature" is often used as an argument to stop technological progress (and stagnate), rather than working on advanced solutions to keep the environment in a human-thriving state.

So, yeah, I guess you could say that, but then you'd also have to explain all the stuff I did up there to make the relation between humans and nature clear and most people would have already zoned out and started thinking about pie or something. :P

Depends on the pinapple to ham ratio.

Most places will go 50:50. Normally even topping distribution is fine but too much pineapple just get really sickly and overpowers the tomato/cheese. Fine for a slice or two but not for a whole pizza. If its a 25:75 ratio then that is delicious.

Using big chunks of it is just as bad as raw dough or unwashed vegetables.

The thing is that in my opinion the comedy wasn't involuntary, I'm convinced that it was intentional, I think the problem is that some jokes didn't land and that's why people didn't realize the intention behind the direction. It was meant to subvert expectations, in a dark humor kind of way.

I think Metroid: Other M was a pretty fun game despite its flaws and I think people focus too much on the flaws to justify hating the game as a whole. I also think it was interesting to have a 2.5D style Metroid game and would be cool if they retry this perspective, but keep the story aspects closer to a traditional Metroid game.
