In all seriousness, I like the Knights of Pen and Paper games, because they were both cute and funny.
I'm also kinda surprised no one's mentioned Stardew Valley yet - that gets an honorable mention from me.

Botanicula, although it gets dark later on.

Slime Rancher seems like the obvious choice here.

Dust: An Elysian Tail.

The characters are cute and especially, Fidget, the sidekick. There are several adorable side quest characters too like Bopo. Besides all of this, the game itself is awesome, with a great story.

Binding of Isaac , although it can get quite dark at times XD other than that , what comes to mind at the moment is Heroes of Hammerwatch, Terraria, Starbound..

Hollow knight is a nice one.
