Unless they are a supercomputer or super-powerful aliens, they are on the losing side as well.
If they can use killer robots on people, then any capable drone or robot manufacturer with sufficient drones and robots at his disposal can obliterate the governments whenever they deem fit. There are some limits which should never be crossed. Otherwise, everyone loses.

Presently, they have no choice. As of this moment, we outnumber them. But, soon we won't.
