Do you hide 1 and 2 CP games?
I'd be interested if it would help with performance as it would still have to check against the point value. It is sort of a thing already, just accessed differently

Do people hide games based on value? I have never considered that and don't think I ever would. There are lots of good indie games that are cheap. If you hide games under $5, the first game that comes to my mind is Ori and the Blind Forest. I'm sure there are plenty of other good games.

But if you hide them, you will never see giveaways for the ones you are interested in. Literally, the only way I hear about new games, especially indie games, is from seeing them being given away here. I would rather see all the games and make a decision about which ones I don't like and hide them individually rather than just blocking an entire group of games that fit into a certain category.
I pretty much hate visual novels and block 99.99% of them, but I played and loved Doki Doki Literature Club. That game is free, so it isn't the best example, but maybe some day I will come across another visual novel that I am tempted to play, so I don't want to block them all.

I just checked your profile and I assuming you have near 1000 not played games, right? From that 1000 games, I am pretty sure there are games that you would want to play and probably enjoy.
Then what's the point of checking every single game to decide if you may or may not like the game, while you didn't even play the games you own? Let's assume you didn't miss a game that you would if you use a filter, and let's assume you won the giveaway. Would you play it at all? From what I can see, most likely not. Then what is the point of "not missing" the game if it most likely join part of not played games collection anyway?
Just for +1? That's ok, but what's the point of checking then... Just enter anything you see.
So... if you think for a second, the time you can spend on checking every <5 game can be spent a lot better by spending on playing a game you already own.

I hide Anime on Steam, but I heard Doki Doki. And Nier, and some other good games... If a game is good, you will probably hear it, even if you don't want to.

I only collect games I am interested in playing and don't collect anything for the +1 because I don't care about numbers on my Steam profile. I have never idled a game, collected cards, or spent time creating badges (I don't even know how or why I would want to). My Steam account is 15 years old, but only level 16 with 5 badges. I pretty much just use it to play games. I could easily have over 3000 games if I activated all the extra games from bundles that I don't want or collected games given away for free. There are tons of free games given away all the time, but I ignore most of them because if I am not interested in playing them, I don't want them to clutter my account. I have almost 20,000 games blocked on SG.
Yes, I have over 900 games on my backlog to play, but that is because I am interested in a lot of different games and I am collecting them faster than I can play them. I have purchased over 900 games and almost every one has come from a bundle or an extremely discounted sale. I am collecting them now because I plan to play them, but I can save a ton of money by getting the games I am interested in when they are extremely cheap. Also, the number of games I own went up very quick at first, but is climbing slow now because I own most of the ones I am interested in and there aren't as many bundles. This means the percent of unplayed game will continue to drop over the years to comes. I just did the smart thing and collected them while they were cheap to save myself money. I didn't actually start collecting games until the beginning of 2013. Up until then I only owned the Half Life 2 collection on Steam and was addicted to Counter Strike. Then I played some really good indie games (Antichamber, Fez, Brothers) which helped break my addiction to CS and I started collecting and playing all kinds of games.
So, I do play the games I own. I just completed No Man's Sky on 9/17 which was an SG win, I just completed Resident Evil on 9/19, and I am playing and almost completed Gray Dawn which is also an SG win. Also, I don't start games, try them for a couple hours and skip to the next like a lot of people do. I like to complete every game I start unless it is really bad, but that is very rare. I have played over 300 games on Steam since 2013 and I think there was only 4 or 5 that I did not complete. I also put a lot of time into the games I play, I don't like to rush though them. I like to explore, take my time and enjoy them.

I believe in the end you will lose money. Firstly, you probably won't play more than 200-300 games from that list. Secondly, even the ones you will play will be a dollar or something like that when you decide to play them after that long time. Don't forget there will be new and awesome games that you will want to play.
Anyway, I mentioned your library just as an example. Even if you had 100 games instead of 1000, it would be the same thing. By hiding games below $5 or 10, no one would miss the game of their life. It would just save time and effort that spent while blacklisting 20.000~ games.

I am not talking about "the game of my life", I am just collecting games that I will enjoy playing. I play a lot of indie games that aren't the greatest, but I still enjoy them. I often find that I enjoy the cheaper indie games more than AAA games. I have a lot of free time, so I enjoy looking through all the games to see what new indie games are being created. If it's a garbage cash grab, it only takes a few seconds to view the steam page, press the block button on SG, and then I never have to see it again. Also, even if I could have more time to play games by looking up less games, I probably wouldn't want to. If I spend all my free time constantly playing games, I would get burnt out.
I don't know why you think I won't play more than 200-300 of the games I currently own and haven't played. I have already played and completed over 300 since 2013 and I don't plan to stop playing. I intend to play them all if I live long enough. Like I said, the number of games I am adding to my library is much slower now compared to what it used to be, so it's not going to keep growing like it has in the past. I probably added almost 1000 games in the first 5 years, but last year I probably only added around 50 and that number is getting less and less every year.
I don't buy expensive bundles like the Humble monthly because even that costs too much per game for me. I probably pay on average about 25 to 30 cents for most of my games. My entire 1200 game collection cost me what most people would pay for 5 or 6 AAA games. Also, some games get put into a bundle for a great price and then the dev/publisher never puts it into another bundle or really cheap sale again, so missing those can add a lot of cost if you skip the bundle and then want it later.
Even if I don't get to play all the games, I think I will still save a lot of money buying them as cheap as I do. I also get the benefit of having a large selection of games to choose from when I pick a new game to play.

I filter out all games below 10 points, so I don't need to actually hide them. But yes, value is a factor.
Less than 10% of my wishlisted games cost less than $10. And the few I'd be interested in, I can see checking the wishlisted section. So there really isn't any point for me to see all the rest.

Some cheap games are actually nice. Wish there rather was an option hide hentai and gamehag regifter trash. Same as some developers who product absolute trash just to giveaway there 1000 copies per week. I found it is easier just blacklist these "developers" as it cost less clicking than hidding each piece of crap they create in free engine in 5 mins.
It would be easier find good cheap games if distribution of these Shitvelopers was lower.

As others have mentioned, The worth of a game isn't based on it's price.
I have recently seen a bunch of trash games and DLC going for $20-30. Just because they cost more to buy, doesn't make them better than the $2 games you're alluding to.
Improve server performance? Unlikely to do diddly squat actually.
Also, why even invoke this discussion when you don't care about winning these low priced games yourself? That would have been 12 less games you would have won this year, which is more than I've won in total this year.

That reminded me money laundering steam discussion by games with insane prices to activate scripts to autobuy game some people use. Can't find it, it was some nonsense indie game which is full steam, but that one costed 460$. Tried filter steam games from highest price and I think 20$ games you said are still better. On steam sort it showed me not only high cost bundles, but even some weird games for 200$ which definitely doesn't look like best AAAs of that year. There is some random game link for others.

For me while this is usually true still this would be meaningless because there are pretty good games at that price range. Also like others mentioned there are bad games at $20-30 range too. Besides these, I think it would be nice ignoring a game on Steam makes it hidden here too, if Steam API allows it of course.

From a coding perspective, having to run through a list of hidden games, other filters, owned games etc, probably costs a couple ms worth of time for the server.
A singular "if game < xCP hide the game" would potentially save the server a lot of if game on hidden list checks.
And thus improve server performance.
This would mean adding an option to our profile on the https://www.steamgifts.com/account/settings/giveaways page with a text input field.
"Hide games below X CP", you input 5 for example.
Then, all games worth 0-4 CP are forever hidden.
Clearing up a lot of space on your hidden games list. Since this is a simple lookup rather than a complex lookup, this should also improve server performance.
