Well. I'm overwhelmed by the success of this bundle and the incredible ammount of good stuff in it. I'm afraid of missing something.

So I propose this: - Which ones are the MUST PLAY games of this bundle?

https://itch.io/b/520/bundle-for-racial-justice-and-equality

The idea is only recommend games played (and preferrably finished) by us, with a short minireview why is a must have, but strong recommendations by other reasons could apply (great developer, good reviews, etc.)

  • Octodad: Dadliest Catch - The original clunky controls simulator, but this have a lot of charm, is very funny and the story is a delightful nonsense

  • Celeste - I Loved this hard as nails platformer.

  • Milkmaid of the Milky Way - Point and click adventure in the line of Loom and the old Lucasarts titles.

  • Nuclear Throne - Fast paced Rogue-lite top down shooter, with an original setup.

  • A Short Hike - Adorable adventure-exploration game with a beautiful flying mechanic.

  • Hyper Sentinel - Horizontal Shoot'em up, spiritual succesor of the legendary Uridium.

  • Oxenfree - Point and click adventure game, with great presentation, a kinda spooky story and a focus on conversations and decision making.

  • PICO-8 - Is a miniconsole with access to hundreds of little games (some of them really polished and fun), but also a game creator tool.

  • They Bleed Pixels - Very hard platformer with awesome controls and sharp pixel art.

  • Hunter's Moon Remastered - A new version from an old C64 game. The download comes with the C64 emulator, or you can download the disk image and load the game in your real C64.

  • A Normal Lost Phone - A short and bittersweet adventure-stalking simulator app, in which you explore a smartphone that you've found.

  • The Floor is Jelly - Cute platformer with a fun jell-o mechanic.

  • The Hex - Adventure/Metagame/Thingy from Pony Island creator. Very meta, and very interesting.

I'll add more if I play more :)

Nice article with more recommendations:

Night in the Woods is an obvious one, though it's one I have not played yet!

Oxenfree and Milkmaid, A Short Hike were ones I also really enjoyed, and recommend from your list.

Others I've played:

  • A Mortician's Tale, is a short interesting experience, worth a look at.
  • Minit - cool minute-long bursts of gameplay work out well as you progress through the world and story, it's rather fun.
  • Wheels of Aurelia - a little odd game, still undecided if I would wholly recommend it...
  • Catlateral Damage - speaks for itself really, but it's cute.
  • Highway Blossoms - really enjoyed this VN, sweet, cheesy romance and story, but done well, imo.
  • Dreaming Sarah - cute little game set in a strange fantasy world

I'm sure there are others, I just haven't been through the full list, yet. But that's a short bite.

Damn, such an insane bundle, and I'm unable to purchase it while itch.io support ignores me :(

I came here to say Underhero, so let me expand on your statement and say what Undertale is to EarthBound, Underhero is to Paper Mario. It clearly has the same heart, but it's undeniably its own thing, and I loved it a lot.

  • Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is a turn-based RPG (think Final Fantasy-ish) tha doesn't take itself very seriously but at the same time has a pretty in-depth and complex battle system. Would definitely recommend. (Not sure what the itch.io version is like though. The whole game is available for free on Kongregate and the payed Steam version just has bonus content in it. So I don't know if the itch.io version is like the Steam version or the Kongregate version.)
  • The (Original) Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy's soundtracks are there, and while those are not games, I'd definitely recommend checking them out because they're very awesome OSTs. (Definitely better than the games themselves...)
  • They Bleed Pixels but you already mentioned that. :P

And... that's it. Huh, lot's of... creative stuff in that bundle, judging by the titles. ^_^'

The soundtrack of Desktop Dungeons (also from Danny Baranowsky) is pretty good too.

The game is awesome, sadly not included, but in a sale, is a must have if you like a puzzle-rogue-rpg-turnbased-comedy thingy

OneShot is one of my favorite games. There are some meta-game elements that are just too good.
2064 Read Only Memories is a mix between point-n-click and visual novel, with cyberpunk elements, very colorful art and cool characters.

EDIT: I'm not usually into dating sims, but Speed Dating for Ghosts has some really nice storytelling. Actually, it's not a romance/otome game but a bunch of cool narratives about the afterlife.

Possession : Surprisingly good ideas for a yet basic oldschool looking roguelike.
( You play as a weakened ghost/soul, and have to progress to the surface by any means, including the fact that your spirit can possess nearly any kind of critters, and even some artifacts. )

Recently finished my first playthrough of OneShot on Steam, I teared up a little at the end, and I consider myself a tough nut to crack. Definitely recommend it.

Wait until the second playthrough (the 'Solstice' patch, which is pretty much an expanded 'true ending').
It gets better.
