Yeah I wanted to like the game but between that article and a gameplay impression video I watched I guess I'll be passing

"You feel awfully like you’ve just bought into a free-to-play shooter"

Sums up what I see when I look at that game, sad to, looked like fun, but it seems that most free to play games have the same XP/Cash system, Tribes Ascend and SMNC being two of the newer ones.

I took this review lightly, and don't regret it one bit. The game is great to play, it's sort of a pain in the ass to get the unlocks, but at the same time it isn't. I've put in several hours so far and it's one of the most enjoyable multiplayer games i've played in awhile. It feels like a Team Fortress 2 + CoD hybrid, with the CoD unlock system and the TF2 store system, but you really don't need to worry about unlocks at all. I've been playing with the same 2 weapons all the time (Bow + Rocket Launcher) and I don't feel like i'm missing out on an experience at all. If you have $15 laying around, this game is definitely worth picking up.

More agreesome! Great game, always end up first (maybe this is why I love it :P?). Good enemies with the Ice gun are a pain in the ass though...

I do feel like buying it but this game seems bound to become f2p. I didn't read the article since I don't believe in reading.

I would play it if it was FTP, but as it stands now it seems like its not worth the money. I stopped playing SMNC because of the horrible unlock system...yet I play Tribes Ascend, not sure why but if feels more balanced unlock wise(well besides weapons).

Ahh ... GFWL we meet again. That thing is like cinderblocks on a sinking man.

I remember getting Bioshock 2 as a gift and trying to play it. Had to go through all kinds of crap to try and get GFWL to work and after about of hour arsing around with my account I gave up and spent the next few hours looking through hacking/torrent sites to find a way to get rid of it.
Managed to get rid of the GFWL after I found a fan-hack. After starting the game I found the FOV so terrible in it's low setting that it made me dizzy with headaches. After further searching I found a pretty crappy way of changing the FOV which broke the widescreen. Fun times, uninstalled.

Rant aside this looks like the token case of a developer coming up with a decent idea and going to a publisher which then replies:
"Will it sell to the CoD fans? You're not sure? Not good enough, more generic military pew-pews and perks!"

I guess you don't remember everyone bitching about the 80 dollars of day one dlc in Portal 2, that you could unlock through regular gameplay. It's the same deal here.

won't it end up f2p eventually. it's pretty hard for multiplayer games to succeed nowadays without a playerbase. i mean either you launch and take off or you don't have a community.
