I'd like to share an advice I always get during matches:
'Delete CS'

Absolutely, they even try to high-five me for motivation every time a new round starts. Unfortunately though, they forget about the knives they're holding so instead of high-fiving me I get stabbed.

Since you asked how to get good at the GAME, i'll reply with an answer.
Get those muscle memory maps... or aim practice maps. Those are the fastest and best ways to train your wrist muscles and improve hand-eye coordination.
Read about each weapon - recoil, control, fire rate etc.
Focus on one or two main weapons on each side - ct and t.
Once you get a hang/ feel of the weapons, watch demos of professional. See how they move, how they use their weapons (they generally dont spam. They use short bursts - again depends on the weapon).
Watch some good youtube frag movies (Just to get your motivation high up again :D The music in those frag movies are really awesome!)
Go play deathmatch more often.
Disclaimer: I'm not as good in CSGO but i was once quite unbeatable in cs 1.6. Same tips apply to both game.
let me know if you need more tips.

Firstly, you need to think about the goals of the mission, plan and make some tactics. Of course you won't get a lot of frags but at least you can save your teammates, make some useful moves for the team or simply won't die in the beginning of every round. Accuracy will come with time (or not xD).

Gear matters a lot.
Getting a mouse with extra buttons means I have maxed assigned to my mouse. It's easier for me.
But using a razed mousepad gave me better control and accuracy compared to a generic office works gel pad. And getting 144hz gsync monitor gave me a huge boost in skill level.
I remember being stuck at Nova 3 and 4. Changing monitors got me straight to MGE without a derank.
Edit: Fixed autocorrect typos.

I'm not saying that you cant be a good player without proper gear.
I am saying you can be a better player than you currently are with better gear.
Of course if you are already unbeatable, you might not see any difference in the end result, since you cant really be better than unbeatable.
But for most players who are not quite at Global Elite level, it does make a difference. I talk from personal experience and from what I gleamed from talking to my friends.

learn spray control, baiting out shots, flashing yourself out and all kind of nade tricks/spots,communicate with your team, when you are low on money go for an eco or two depending on the money situation, also never go for no armor buys, learn to hold spots as CT,learn movement(my weakness even tho im SMFC which is the 2nd highest rank I have quite poor movement),learn when to go for a certain shot for example if you turn out to be behind your opponents you can wait out and see how many there are,but if this places your team in danger(for example if u dont shoot the enemy infront of you he will shoot your teammate, but if you go for the shot you will actually take him down) or feel like they might spot you soon just go for the shot, learn strats dont just blindly rush out somewhere, dont play with SMGs on a buy round(you can do that if u know the other team will be on eco or your team goes for force buy,but you are low on money and they cant drop you either),my personal advice for you is go and watch WarOwl's matchmaking academy videos (currently 38 or 39 videos existing) he explains what I said more in-depth and gives you good example(ignore the fact he talks a lot of useless stuff sometimes) for certain situations, you will quickly pick up on the game if you watch a few videos

So after some debate about weather or not to get CS:GO, my friend decided to buy it for me. After a couple hours of playtime I noticed I was terrible at the game. Is there something i'm missing, or are there any ways to get better, or is it just me? Any help would be appreciated.
