Do you blacklist?
Yep, I agree. There is one game in particular that I own because I got it for free in a giveaway. It's windows only.
But the older "Gold" version of that same game is playable on my mac, so I kinda want the older version. It shouldn't be a problem if someone actually wants the game and intend to play it.

As others said, blacklists are bi-directionnal, so someone blacklisting you cannot enter your GAs.
Blacklisting someone in SG simply means no GAs between the two people. It's just a matter of personal choice, nobody loses anything he's entitled to (as nobody is entitled to have access to any GA made by another person).

Aww... just for that. Blacklist. ;P
JK!
For some reason I go back and forth on that. It's a "meh" kinda thing for me. ;P

No no no! They are absolutely right about the spelling. It's just a weird quirk I have.

Blacklisted for joking about blacklisting (⌐▨_▨) (no jokes about blacklists on our Christian forums).

:D My goofy brain does that to me. I will be like, "Oh it has to be give-a-way." Not about easier, but about my brain thinking faster then I can type and signals getting crossed. So, because it's pretty much the same thing. Most people read it the same and not think to long about it.
Though thinking about it. I am probably doing anyone who does not know the write way of spelling it, any favors by spelling it like that.
Meh! ;P

It's an old feature by now: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/uWdUq/two-way-blacklists

I blacklisted 3 people as of now. Mainly cause of their behavior & comments. Blacklist works both ways. Though I kinda was hoping like block to not see their comments or posts. Blacklist doesn't matter. It can even happen by mistake. Sometimes the no. of times one getting blacklist will drop cause of it.
But I definitely will say whitelist is much more important cause of whitelist giveaway. You might sometimes see post sbout whitelist recruitment just for doing giveaways.

Well thanks everyone for the info and feedback. Ya, I was to lazy to look at the FAQ and thought it might be cool to talk about.
So far I have upset 21 people. A few I am sure are players I threatened to report for posting GOG and Origin game. I still did not blacklist them. I get why they did it. Still rules are rules and some players don't know and would have been upset to get an Origin Key for there steam account. :D
Still, there is that part of me that really wish to know what I did to warrant the blacklisting. This is the only time I know for a fact why and it's just plain petty. ;P
Still, oh well. They wouldn't need anything from my giveaways anyway. They are a lv 10 and probably have all the game. ;P

Breathing? Really! God, good thing I gave that up. Nasty Habit!

Just some examples why I was blacklisted:
And so on, and so forth. Basically, people can blacklist you for being rude, intentionally breaking site rules or having downright ugly views, but they would also blacklist you for really ridiculous reasons. It might be unpleasant at first, but it time you learn to pay no heed to this nonsense.

I only blacklist when I accidentally click the blacklist button when I wanted to search. When some advertisement pops the button down to where the search bar was and woops, blacklisted. Then I've got to remove them from blacklist. Don't know if that increases blacklist stats for members.

I was blacklisted once for not responding for 3 days to a giveaway I'd won. That's about how often I check my inbox and I hadn't been on the site either, for working long hours.
There's another blacklist I'm on for, I guess, I don't know for sure, having too many games in my account? (I'm a compulsive collector shrug) At least I'm selective about the giveaways I enter though - don't have much choice when one owns lots of stuff, I guess.
I don't really scramble to be on a bunch of whitelists either - but I don't turn them down and do my best to reciprocate when I discover someone has whitelisted me.

You won't be shooting yourself in the foot. You would be preventing yourself from accidentally entering GAs created by people you don't like for some reason - because why would you ever want to win anything from them?

If I notice someone has me blacklisted I'll do so back just to do so, but typically I only blacklist people if I feel like they were being a jerk.
That said, I don't scan the comments too often lately (other than for my GA related stuff), so most the people on my blacklist (whom aren't there because they blacklisted moi) are from years ago and I don't recall why. >.>

This post wasn't about you, but an actual curiosity about how blacklisting works and get people talking about it. Yes, I mentioned our interaction, but as for reference to why. This thread was made, BEFORE you replied to me. It's not about you.
I don't know why you got so mad at me. Why you went so far as to dig through my account for something to use against my wish to enter that giveaway. I don't know why you had to make accusations of my intentions for wanting that game. I am sure I know why you blacklisted me and I accepted that as your choice, even if you never came out and said the reason why.
When you made your last reply on that thread. I was thankful you answered me and verified my curiosity. I thanked you. I expressed my concerns for your opinion but also wanted you to know I held no grudge. You were not blacklisted from me and were welcome to enter any giveaway I made. I bid you farewell and wished you happy gaming. Which if you knew me is my common good bye to everyone I want to have a wonderful day. I end all game related chats with Happy Gaming followed by my two favorite emoji of "Cheer" and "Love". My way of saying, Cheers Love.
So, I am going to just go about my day and life now. I simply wanted to bid you a joyful farewell.
If you want to talk about anything else. Feel free to. I don't mind chatting. Send me a friend request if you don't want to do it here. Though this will be my last words on this whole mess.
Good Bye Mayanaise! Happy Gaming to you.

If someone blacklists you, they can't enter your giveaways (as was already said a bazillion times ^^).
But, in the past, if they saw a very good game you gave away, they could just un-blacklist you, enter your giveaway, wait until the giveaway is over and afterwards blacklist you again.
This is why - in the past - it was better to also blacklist your blacklisters.
Nowadays, when someone removes you from their blacklist, they can't enter your giveaways for a grace period, which lasts for seven days, I think.

The way that is typed out is rather insulting sounding. Like I was not paying attention to what others have written. That may not have been your intention. I don't hold it against you. Just wanted you to know that is how it read out to me.
Now, as I have said before. I don't care if anyone who were to blacklist me wanted to un-blacklist me to just to enter my giveaway. If they make it in time to enter. That is fine by me. Even if they go back to blacklisting me. It's fine. I don't hold such petty anger in me to deny them this chance to change. If they win. I will still be happy for them. I know not everyone feels the same. I know others might think I am a fool like that. That's just how I am.
Thank you for your concern on this view. I appreciate it.

If someone blacklists me. I know I am unable to enter their give-a-ways, but can they enter mine? If someone chooses to blacklist me. Will they still be able to take part in my give-a-ways?
I don't know how much the blacklist works on steamgifts. If it also blocks posts as well. Frankly, in the years I have used this site. I have never blacklisted anyone. I never ran into anyone I felt like, "GOD, I really need to black list this person."
I made the "mistake" of entering a give-a-way for a older version of a game I have a newer version of. Not a mistake, just being treated like I am absolute dog sh...stuff for doing it. I have my reasons for wanting and I did not own it. Still, the person who was upset about it seems to have now blacklisted me. I know this, cause I tried to enter a give-a-way they have coming up and it says I have been blacklisted.
Now, I am not wanting to fight back against them over this. That's their choice and I would not want to take it away. Not looking for sympathy or revenge.
It just got me wonder how Blacklisting someone works. This is not me trying to take a moral high ground by saying I don't blacklist people even if they blacklist me. This is me looking to the future. Should I ever feel the need to blacklist someone. Would I be shooting myself in the foot and preventing me from seeing their give-a-ways?
