You know I could be wrong but I'm next to positive that wasn't one of the options.

Yes, hence the obvious sarcasm with phrases like "you know I could be wrong" and "I'm next to positive".

Answering "Minecraft" when the options were Terraria and Starbound contributes nothing, as no one was asking about Minecraft.

You know I could be wrong but I'm next to positive that he's what you'd call a troll.
Anyway, I loved Terraria although I've yet to play it since the last update. Haven't played Starbound yet.

Why someone must be a troll if he answers something else.
By his answer i understand that he doesn't like either of the two options. So instead of saying i don't like none of them but i like minecraft he just mentions the game he likes.

Congrats on finding the troll. The author of the post could be called out for nearly the same thing though. He's asking people to choose the best out of two games when one of them isn't even finished yet.

Idk, terraria was okay, but neverquest landmark should be on your radar since it will be free to play and have a pretty unique building/crafting system. If you want a crafting system with recipes I would lean to starbound I guess.

Terraria, mainly because I don't like the space theme that Starbound has.

SPAAAACE! space! space!!!! all the more reason to get star bound. But considering both of them are on Steam, why not both?
I bought Terraria recently but if only I had known Starbound was like Terraria with space _

It's a totally the same game under a different name and theme. If you like space stuff - starbound. And the only space stuff you'll get are suits.. If you don't like space stuff, go for Terraria.

Haven't played neither(I played Terraria a bit on my phone, but that doesn't count), so I'll go with Starbound.

I played Starbound with family sharing... I really want to buy it now. It's much better than Terraria.

I like the concept of Terraria very much, but, while still having a lot more "story" than Minecraft, it still doesn't convince me 100% in playing.
Starbound, already with its space setting and possibility to explore different worlds, has that little edge I wanted. On top of that I believe it will have even some more story (can anybody confirm this?).

TL;DR Starbound

There's a quest system, lore, towns, etc. So yeah, Starbound does have more of a "story".

Starbound is a rewritten version of Terraria. The Terraria code didn't allow for much extensions so they rewrote the code and build Starbound. I'm not down with the space-setting either, but the main game is on and inside planets anyway.

Starbound is not the work of the Terraria devs. The artist for Terraria worked on Starbound, not even the coder.

Chucklefish made a point fairly early on that Starbound was not Terraria. They presumably have little to no right to Terraria's name or its code. They can make a similar game, though. (Mind, if Terraria was an EA or Sega product or the like, Chucklefish might have seen a lawsuit for being too similar.)

I like both, but Starbound has so much more to offer (or will once it's actually released) and improves on the formula greatly.

I saw Starbound yesterday the first time (hi snake ^^) and it looked so cool. I cant compare it to Terraria, cuz I never played it myself. For the first look, I would choose Starbound :)

Starbound looks fun, but I'm not rushing to buy it like I did with Terraria. When I saw terraria (it hadn't even been released yet, just teaser videos), I was super hyped for it and bought it the second it released on steam, and I'm put 300+ hours into the game (Mainly because I would start up a new world with every major update that came out). Starbound doesn't look as good as terraria, not sure what it is, but it's like refined pixel art that doesnt look very good...like trying to make 16bit games HD with some filters. Anyway, I'll pick up starbound when it is on sale, or the small chance of winning it on this site.

TLDR; terraria

both but Starbound has much much more. . . .the whole game right now (in bug testing beta for the next two weeks) has at least 200X as much stuff in Terraria. I've just encountered vendors flown to thirteen different planets. . . setup a homebase. . . the music is epic. . . just all and all lots.
