Why someone must be a troll if he answers something else.
By his answer i understand that he doesn't like either of the two options. So instead of saying i don't like none of them but i like minecraft he just mentions the game he likes.

Idk, terraria was okay, but neverquest landmark should be on your radar since it will be free to play and have a pretty unique building/crafting system. If you want a crafting system with recipes I would lean to starbound I guess.

It's a totally the same game under a different name and theme. If you like space stuff - starbound. And the only space stuff you'll get are suits.. If you don't like space stuff, go for Terraria.

Haven't played neither(I played Terraria a bit on my phone, but that doesn't count), so I'll go with Starbound.

I like the concept of Terraria very much, but, while still having a lot more "story" than Minecraft, it still doesn't convince me 100% in playing.
Starbound, already with its space setting and possibility to explore different worlds, has that little edge I wanted. On top of that I believe it will have even some more story (can anybody confirm this?).
TL;DR Starbound

Starbound is a rewritten version of Terraria. The Terraria code didn't allow for much extensions so they rewrote the code and build Starbound. I'm not down with the space-setting either, but the main game is on and inside planets anyway.

Starbound is not the work of the Terraria devs. The artist for Terraria worked on Starbound, not even the coder.
Chucklefish made a point fairly early on that Starbound was not Terraria. They presumably have little to no right to Terraria's name or its code. They can make a similar game, though. (Mind, if Terraria was an EA or Sega product or the like, Chucklefish might have seen a lawsuit for being too similar.)

Terraria 2, which is a confirmed thing that is going to happen.

Starbound looks fun, but I'm not rushing to buy it like I did with Terraria. When I saw terraria (it hadn't even been released yet, just teaser videos), I was super hyped for it and bought it the second it released on steam, and I'm put 300+ hours into the game (Mainly because I would start up a new world with every major update that came out). Starbound doesn't look as good as terraria, not sure what it is, but it's like refined pixel art that doesnt look very good...like trying to make 16bit games HD with some filters. Anyway, I'll pick up starbound when it is on sale, or the small chance of winning it on this site.
TLDR; terraria

Didn't play any of them, but Starbound looks better.

both but Starbound has much much more. . . .the whole game right now (in bug testing beta for the next two weeks) has at least 200X as much stuff in Terraria. I've just encountered vendors flown to thirteen different planets. . . setup a homebase. . . the music is epic. . . just all and all lots.
