They ARE a dying breed. Computers are always to be dominant over consoles. Consoles aren't even worth getting anymore.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not even gonna go into this but just know that you're an idiot.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, I'm not. Almost every console game is ported to computer, and works 100x better on computers, and I'm including mods that can be applied to any game. Unless they add support for it, consoles won't be getting mods any time soon, so they'll be lesser than the computer versions of the game. You can even use gamepads for computer games. It's really the same thing as a console gameplay-wise.
And computers are, overall, more powerful than consoles. No way that's going to change any time soon.
P.S. Funny how you're like every other person out there, miss-using words like crazy! Last time I checked, I'm not lacking in intelligence.

I'm not going to disagree that (most) games are better on PC compared to their home console counterpart, but consoles are not dying.
Most stores have already sold out on pre-orders for Next-Gen systems months back and millions of users still play on their PS3 and Xbox 360 based on multiplayer games alone.

I'd add myself to the PS3 list, but using my computer is even more cost efficient.

Consoles have the majority of gamers and they are only increasing. Computers are not simple enough for the average people, unlike consoles. As for PC being the future, that is the dumbest thing I ever heard, being PCs were around first and game consoles slapped their cock in its face. You can have an opinion which is better, you can be different and play one more than the other ,but to say cold hard facts are wrong is silly. Consoles are not going to die anytime soon.
Comment has been collapsed.
Computers being more cost-efficient is a fact. Computers having the same game-play controls as consoles is a fact ( Programs to activate controllers, controller-support, etc. )and mods ( short-form for modification )rarely take away stuff from a game, so they simply increase the gameplay experience ; Fact. You can't deny any of this, because it's true. On the topic of performance, the PS4 coming out isn't even a huge improvement compared to the PS3, and it's the same case with the Xbox 360 / One. By the time the PS4 comes out(Which appears to be November 15th), there'll already be more cost-efficient reasons to play on a computer. Heck, most people probably won't even buy the consoles immedietally. They'll wait for the prices to go down, just like with the PS2 / 3 / Xbox 360 / etc. Currently, the PS3 is on pre-order for $399.99 or $400. I could go out and buy a computer for half that price, then buy games during a steam sale at a cost of $100 for a ton of games, that would run perfectly fine. Even GOG has better games for sale than any 'AAA' console game out there. These are ALL facts, and you can't deny them. Besides, you probably think I'm some anti-consoles edgy 12 year old. I have a console, and I've had a Playstation since the 1st. In fact, I enjoy consoles, but I enjoy computers more. That being said, on the opinion side, anyone can like whatever they like. I'm not saying that you CAN'T like consoles. Saying that consoles are dominant over computers is silly, however.
P.S. I never said PC is going to be the future. Of course, if done right, they can be. Consoles are too limited at this time. They could do SO MUCH MORE with consoles, but they strive for the money-pit instead. I mostly have a console for the exclusives, too. E.g. Ratchet N' Clank. Jak N' Daxter.
Comment has been collapsed.
A computer that plays the same games consoles have require more power than the console versions to run, which means you need a more powerful computer. If you were to pay for everything need in order to run the same game, even if you were to do heavy research on buying the parts, a good PC would cost about $500 while a PS3 costs around $200, more like $150 if you shop smart, $180 if you're an idiot. By the time the PS4 comes out, which is $400, a PC would also increase in price. I don't know where you think a PC that can run modern games cost less than $400, but I would love for you to share your information or make a youtube video about it since most of us don't know how to do that, which only further proves my point. Making PC's are very expensive, unless you have the know how, and wont be made easier for anyone anytime soon in a cost effective way, thus why consoles will never die.
Consoles have exclusives, believe it or not. These exclusives alone will ALWAYS make the consoles survive. Yes, believe it or not, you're absolutely wrong no matter how smart you think you are when you say consoles will eventually die. People love the simplicity that consoles bring, only geeks will ever understand how to perfectly build and set up a PC, little known how to fully make games work when dealing with compatibility and installation errors game devs love to create for their games. I prefer PC gaming too, but I atleast am not a near sighted fool to say consoles will die. Consoles are growing, not dying. Also, how much energy does a PC use versus a console? This is science we shouldn't be pulling out of our asses before saying one is cheaper than the other. I am willing to bet PC's cost more to maintain, hands down.
Comment has been collapsed.
Those exclusives can still be played on PCs anyway... Also, a PC is better in so many ways. I bought mine's in 2009 and it costed me 1000 Euros, 4 years after, I can still play ANY game in High settings. Tell me if PS3 can play ANY new game in high settings (according to a PC's standards). It just can't. Less graphics, less perfomance, less stuff to do. Skyrim on consoles for instance is ridiculous. Consoles are not dying, but they are still not as cost-efficient as PCs. For example, let's say a PS4 costs $400, which is not the same for all the world, how much do you think a good PC costs? $1000. Let's say you buy for both gaming devices the same games... 10 AAA titles! On consoles you pay 100% of the price, on a computer you will play 80%, and if you are very clever, you can get games from others with less price, even before the launch date. Let's say you wasted... $500 on those 10 games for PS4, but for the PC is only costed $400. So...
PS4+10 AAA games = $900
PC+10 AAA games = $1400
Now, let's see. You paid $500 more for the PC and the 10 games, but how many years will the modern PC last till it can play no new game? 5? Nope! Even more than 5! How about PS4? Pretty much till PS6! How much will it cost to buy a PS5? $400! How much to get a better PC? Well, you will just need a better graphics card, so if you take a good and nice one, then it can even cost $200! And you are fine! :) The PC upgrades, the PS doesn't.
How many years will
Comment has been collapsed.
A store-bought cheap computer can run a lot of the modern games easily. I don't know what computer you have, but a computer,, that costs $500 is over-the-top. Building your own computer is going over-the-top, too, unless you really want it. Besides, building a computer isn't complicated. It just takes at least a day of reading up on the basics.
Exclusives. Yes, I know there are exclusives on consoles. I said that in the end of my post, which you obviously didn't read. Of course, you're also ignoring the fact that there aren't a lot of exclusives compared to non-exclusives.
PCs aren't expensive to maintain, unless you smash your computer around like a crazy maniac. I've had the computer I have now for about 3-5 years, and all it'll take is $200-300 in parts to upgrade it. Still cheaper than the PS4.
I never said that consoles WILL die, I said that they ARE dying. The PS4 is now enforcing pay2playonline. How well do you think that'll go? The PS3 was unique for its free2play system, and suddenly that's gone. It's surely going to lose a lot of users from that. No reason why they'd go to Xbox, either, because it requires pay2playonline as well! Point being, consoles are WAY more expensive that computers, because you're paying for internet AND membership. You don't pay to use steam.
P.S. Please, throw more pathetic insult attempts at me. It's really going to change facts.

Unless you are aiming to get the "OMG The best and most high end PC in the world" which OBVIOUSLY will increase in price as more and more high end components are being invented each year. However, a medium-powerful PC, with medium-high specifications (not with high end components) can still run modern AAA games at medium-high settings for at least 4 years+ (depending on the games) There's absolutely no need to build a PC of your own. Just visit one of those Custom gaming rig builders and you can get a mid range pc for like from $700 to 1000 (which is actually starting to be a bit of a high-end)
PC games or games in general won't become so advanced and power hungry that PC components have to be renewed like every year or two...and that's only if you want to keep playing the games at the highest settings possible (ultra settings with 16x MSAA?). For an average gamer just medium-high settings with just a may be $700 computer will last him at least 4++ years under good condition and care.
And with a good enough PC you can do other things on top of gaming too...that could be one reason people opt to buy a more expensive PC. For this reason PCs are more powerful and more useful than consoles which are only for gaming.
That's why I prefer to have both a PC and a console.

consoles are dying, well the ones we grew up with... these new "consoles" are just a dumbed down computer put out for the masses. so if "consoles are turning into computers with the media center adaptation, wouldn't that mean consoles, true game consoles are dying since they are no longer just consoles. PlayStation realized the that's why PlayStations are "Computer Entertainment Systems" not just console

If you were lacking in intelligence would you be smart enough to know? Either way, this is a stupid argument, each side has its pros and cons, and its really pointless and a waste of time for you guys, I just want to read comments without scrolling down half a page through two people bickering over a simple matter.

Yeah, I was in a heated argument back then. I'll formally apologize, but I stand by what I said. I stated only facts as far as how superior computers are (upgraded parts, modifications a.k.a. mods, etc.)

Consoles are build specifically for Gaming, It is for sitting back and relaxing without upgrading hardware,
PC gaming is a better experience, but consoles are still worth the money :)
PC Games are great but so are Console games, The Last of Us which you wont find on PC is a breathtaking game :D

What does wealth have to do with how superior a device is?

I think you are wrong, people are turning to console more and more.

With the amount of criticism the new generation of consoles are receiving I doubt that. I mean sure you could play it off as PC user hate but I don't have a single friend right now who is excited about a new console.

You do not know what the intent of his thought was. I think effected was the correct word in that instance. Affected means that it changed his reply, effected means it created his reply.

lol nope, but it had a feature to play your own MP3s as a radio station, something the PS2 version was sorely lacking.

The difference being GTA 4 was infected with a Microsoft (Vista coding - aka memory hog) virus, forced Social Network spying, and DVD copy protection, which failed misably for anyone who legally purchased the game. It worked 10 times better actually cracked/ripped. It was the only GTA game I returned for a refund.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I looked at this in confusion, but Saint's Row doesn't have cheats that let you have nitro-injected flying cars.
P.S. Referencing GTA San Andreas, damn it!

Fair enough. I have yet to try out Saint's Row, but a playthrough of IV seems to convince me that it's worth getting. My friend described Saint's Row like this : It's basically GTA but more fun.

“So PC gamers learn their lesson and stop stealing games.”
I laughed my ass off... like there are no pirates on consoles...it's even easier to pirate a console game, since you don't even need to crack the games... come on, it's a pretty shitty reason
Comment has been collapsed.
Steam is a scam, it's full of bots and nobody actually buys stuff there
Comment has been collapsed.
Wait, say what?! Only the PC gamers are stealing games???!!!!
I mean, at this moment only PS Vita and the still not launched PS4 and XBox One are not completely and utterly shattered. You can see on the 'bay that certain console games appear before their release with weeks or even a month before they are officialy launched. So piracy only on PC is total ignorance. Probably dude lives under a rock or something. Due to modchips and such, the piracy ratings for console went up a long time ago. And those games are even easier to pirate. But, hey, the PC is the plague of the modern society...
Comment has been collapsed.
LOL this, used game sales hurts more than piracy.
There are a few types who pirate and let's start with the obvious one:
Those who want the game free -- Not much to avoid this, plenty for consoles too.
Those who want to try it to make sure it'll work on their PC -- Most will still buy it themselves if it runs fine.
Those who want to play it and get a feel before paying for it -- Basically because no demo is available. Still see a lot of these people end up buying it if they like it, otherwise they would have never have bought it.
Those who want to get around shitty DRM -- That's usually after the payment is already made...
Meanwhile, used games sales at Gamestop saves you what? $5-10? Those are the people that are willing to spend $50 for a game and have $0 of it go to the people who made it... At least with piracy, you'll still get a good amount of people who pay for it after or even before the fact (in the case to get around DRM) so the developers/publishers still get their money. I can guarantee you nobody who bought a used copy is going out and buying a new copy of the same game to give the developers/publishers money.
Comment has been collapsed.
Totally this. Most of the games I have ever pirated were because A) it wasn't physically avilable in my country/language/region due to region locking, B) because there was no demo and I wanted to try it first (for gameplay and to see if it ran), or C) because I bought the game and DRM screwed me over. I never pirated a game that was sitting in my local gamestore waiting for me to buy it unless I tested it first and found out how bad the game was. And in those cases I never continued anyway.
The developers need to put more effort into releasing quality demos, avoiding shitty DRM and get itno as many reqions as possible. If they can manage that, a lot of piracy would dissapear, leaving only the people who would never pay for anything anyway (the free players.)

i guess i sort of fall under the make sure it work on my pc hehe.
no but really i almost didnt buy arma 3 because i figured it wouldnt work because of a website that check to see if your pc can handle it short story short i got it 3 days after the alpha came out since i have tested that it worked on pc. also i kind of fall under the not available in my country.

do you honestly think that Rockstar will give two flip rips about what a bunch of no names do?
petition or not the game will come out on PC. why? because Money Talks and Bullshit walks.. it's just that simple.

Oh no!They already got 2/3 of the signatures!
And then what?Does he expect R* to not release the game because 1000 stupid people say so?

lol yeah, I'm fucking amazed every time someone links to a shitty petition for their petty motivations, and it's always about 1000 if not just a couple hundred persons. Like someone would care for those few crybabies.
