EDIT (2021-06-07) I just wanted to say that I check all the games You are recommending, but I won't reply to every comments. And I really appreciate new recommendations as I already got new wishlist items thanks to people!

Hey, I've been thinking how pity it is that one of the best games are so unknown, that I thought of making this threat.

As underrated game, we are talking about game that is:

  • More than average, something great and exceptional
  • Not well known or aren't getting attention it deserve

You may list any number of games You want, but it must meet both conditions mentioned above.

Mine is pretty simple. It is WARP. Game that has very good rating, yet not many people seem to know it. It's discussed nowhere on the Internet. No artworks, no forums, no anything. Literally as people wouldn't know that game exist. I have seen only one fanart of this game. There are videos on YouTube from it, but YouTube has many things in its repertoire, as people will always send and upload things even barely known there. But it still isn't that popular or known.

WARP is puzzle platformer action stealth game. You are an alien called Zero, who has been abducted from his world and people makes experiments on aliens in the underwater facility. You have the ability of warping (who would have thought!), but You constantly gain more and more powers. The gameplay is varying with playstyles. You can be more stealthy, use more agility or just think things through. Or combine all of it! It's very unique, but it's not just unique. The unique gameplay is actually pretty fun, nice and satisfying. To complete the game You need few hours at most, it's not super long game, but it really is something else. You have to hide from enemies, otherwise You are sitting duck for them. But You can use Your brain and agility to go through the facility. Will You be a genocidal maniac or rather quiet stealthy poor little alien? Maybe both? Maybe none? You decide how You play.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/102850/Warp/

So what are Your underrated games? Also, please, say something about the game(s) You are mentioning, so people will understand what is it about.

PS Also my game, WARP is Steam game, but it needs EA things. It's not invasive, You just login and that's all. You use Origin as a DRM, so it requires You to have an account there + makes it unable to family share. Though the game is cheap. And currently it's even cheaper as it has 80% off and it cost only two dollars.

TAMASHII - It's a puzzle platformer with a glitch/horror/metaphysical theme. I normally don't care for horror games, but this one really worked for me. The story is very interesting, and it breaks the forth wall at times in some very cool ways. The platforming and puzzles are fantastic - difficult, but not to the point that they get frustrating. The pixel art is also top-notch (and often rather unsettling). You can turn off the visual glitch effects, too, if they are too much for you. Maybe not for everyone, but a real gem for those that it clicks with.

I could write a novel about this, but I'll stick to one: Creepy Castle. I thought this would be a neat little game that reminded me of Princess Remedy and Undertale, and I was VERY surprised; this thing blew me away from the first scenario and just never stopped. I played this in January, and I'm still pretty sure it's going to be my game of the year. If you're into really oldschool games, like Castle of the Winds, or some of the more obscure Famicom/Disk System titles, like Lutter, there's a good chance that you're going to like this. The gameplay is interesting (it has splashes of WarioWare), the writing is excellent, and it has a killer soundtrack!

Creepy Castle is great! Looks very cute but has a decent challenge there.

Today I bought House of God and Alien Squatter

HOUSE OF GOD Is a top down rogue-lite that may kinda be compared to Hotline Miami in terms of gameplay (I guess?) but there's a system of add-ons to make every run different. The aesthetics is very.... 90s-ish, and I hope I can "git gud" enough to get to the bosses, those look real cool. It was really cheap, too.

Alien Squatter looks really promising, like, it's one of those "ugly-cute" quirky RPGs. I can't really say no to those.

At this point two titles come to mind:
Super Daryl Deluxe. Only 153 Steam reviews, this is a serious crime!
It is a really unique game (especially on the art side), has TONS of different skills/combos and overall is a great Metroidvania. Truly one of a kind. I went for a completion status and sometimes it was really hard to understand some achievements and/or get the right directions (there are a lot of backtracking), I was really shocked that I could not find a guide. Some forum posts did try to collect/cover most of information, but it is not the same thing as a separate achievement guide.

The Technomancer. Yep, the controls are pretty hard to get use (some might even say terrible), but the story, characters (especially characters) and the world (open world RPG) in general really surprised me. This was my first Spiders's (developer) experience and I was very satisfied with it.

Songbird Symphony If I would have to pick one game thats not very well known and its my all time favourite, it would be this one. Cute characters, catchy story & soundtrack and games based on rhythm were always my favourite, so Songbird Symphony was an easy pick for me. If anyone could suggest me similar games to this one I would be eternally grateful to them^^

We. The Revolution has a Mostly Positive overall rating, but I think it deserves 90%+ because of how unique it is.

You play as a tribunal judge in France during their revolution. Many different mechanics beyond the courtroom are introduced as the first act progresses, so much so that comparing it to any one game (even Papers Please) does not do it justice: Strategy in getting the support of specific areas of France, engage in dialogues to persuade crowds or individuals in power, make choices on how to engage in intrigue to advance in the ranks of elites.

Does Darkwood count? To be fair what peaked my interest was watching the 1st part of Markiplier playing it but after that I had to get it. It's horror survival but it's not that scary, it's more rather interesting. The story, the gameplay mechanics, everything is very dystopian and mysterious. I don't think I do it much justice explaining it... Maybe take a look at the page and one of the reviews can do a better job.

Another one is Sally Face. I think I've played this one like 8 times before I bought it on steam as well just because I really wanted to support the creator! It was made by only one person and everything about it is amazing for a solo project. The story, the puzzles, the music, the humour and oh gosh the pop culture easter eggs from the 80's and 90's! I was so captivated by it that I had little notes all over the place on how the puzzles worked and looked everywhere for clues and easter eggs it really peaked my interest! Bonus points the creator is a really, really nice person and really deserves some recognition for this project and as a creator in general. The game was actually free at first! It was the players that had to tell him to charge for it because it was a game that deserved to be bought! If you play the game you will also see some references to YouTubers that have played the game like little easter eggs in the background. That's the creator's way of thanking them for playing the game and making it more popular. Just. I loved this project, I loved everything about it.

Finally, Ghostrunner sadly got very overshadowed by Cyberpunk 2077's hype and is only now getting the attention it deserves. There's a demo, the game is 50% off until April 20th and I highly recommend the Keymaster bundle. I haven't gotten to really play it yet because time is scarce for me ATM. Take Doom Eternal's fast paced gameplay, take the guns and give the player a blade, use a cyberpunk post-apocalyptic aesthetic, think Metal Gear Risings' Raiden and Overwatchs' Genji merged into one character (abilities wise) and you have Ghostrunner. If you didn't know any better you'd say Platinum Games (known at the time mostly as "Team Little Devils") was behind it because it bleeds that "I wanna be really cool!" attitude that they had when they were developing DMC 3 for Capcom and MGR:R for Kojima while he was still working under KONAMI. I can not do this game enough justice with this description, it just hit all the right spots for me so just try the demo and see for yourself okay?

(Disclaimer: I'm aware that CAPCOM and KONAMI had very douchey attitudes towards Platinum Games and Hideo Kojima/Kojima Productions respectively, I mention them as a timeline reference and ask you to remember the projects made by these two teams that eventually went solo and made more great games, not who they were working for at the time and the sour relationships left after they broke off their respective main branches. Also forgive any spelling errors my auto correct isn't working for some reason?)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/941570/Relicta/

Only 97 reviews, but on current -50% an awesome deal.
Very good puzzle game, like Portal 2 or Talos Principle. It is also very complex. Base game is like 15-20hours if you dont want to use guides.
Game was patched this week with 2 additional, voice acted story, each with 12 puzzle levels (24 total) but oh my, those are quite complex and challenging, and was added to the game for free! Additional 15-20h gameplay.

So if anyone like to support smaller indie teams and like creative puzzle games then then this is a good time to get Relicta on -50%.

Only issue: new achievements for the new free contents broken atm, but new content was released on friday, so probably (hopefully) will be fixed on next working days...

I just completed Super Daryl Deluxe and really enjoyed it. I was surprised to see that it was released in 2018 but is getting very little attention.

I wasn't too interested in some of the dialogue from the historical characters, but I really enjoyed the visual style, quirky characters, and metroidvania aspects.

Disciples 2. This game is one of my childhood favourites. I dont think lots of people know this game. If you love Heroes of Might & Magic, you should try Disciples 2. Also, game has marvellous character portraits, you should check that too.

PS: Disciples 3 is the worst game I've ever played.

Mhh so here are some games I enjoyed which have less than 1000 reviews. Hope it includes something you may like ;)

Rollers of the Realm :Pinball meets RPG :D
Six Sides of the World: A nice puzzle game
Cally's Caves 4: You play partly as a cute little bear :D (I think the 3rd part is also on Steam but I haven't played it yet)
Felix The Reaper: I just love Felix and his dance moves ;)
Hue: Bring some colour into your life
Ants! Mission of the salvation: Yes it may not reach the level of Lemmings, but I still had fun with it :)
Bulb Boy: Little Bulb Boy is just too adorable :D
Degrees of Separation I really liked this. It may even be better in Co-Op :)
Nonogram - The Greatest Painter: I just love nonograms :)
The Adventure Pals: A funny platformer
The Journey Down: Chapter One: + Chapter Two & Three: Really cool Point&Click game. Unfortunately it's quite short so they should've just put all three parts in one game ;)
A Boy and His Blob: Aww such a cute game, don't forget to hug little Blob a lot :)
Splasher: Okay by now you should have realized that I just love platformers ....
Typoman: .... and puzzle games ;)
