Pretty sure Valve would not lie about giving away a couple games, rich as hell, its a drop of rain in a world full of rain for them...

They are actually listed at the faq site: "free games" or something.

yeah, because they won that "3 games from your wishlist" thingy. I don't see, what's "-.-'" about this now.

I might have misunderstood what you meant in that reply because it seemed pretty stupid. I thought you said that they are winning f2p games from the wishlist.

Haha...I put expensive ones up on my wishlist lol...

It's probably influenced by the many badge-crafters over at Reddit. Tomorrow, Blue should be up for the win.

I'm pretty sure it is. If the same teams win every time, many users will lose interest.
Less interest = Less crafting = Less profit for Valve.
Easy solution, make sure that every team wins at least once.
Comment has been collapsed.
And if you make them win 2 times each they will be happier

I think they randomly give a team or two a boost or a head start and encourage others to actively compete.

I just think that once a team is in the lead, it's more tempting to contribute than when it's at the bottom. So, whenever a team wins, purple for example, they lose interest in winning again and are pretty much exhausted from when they contributed while they were #1. I mean, why would someone contribute right now to the bottom 4 teams? They don't look like they're gonna win, so those people might save their craft for next time when they see they're in the lead.
I doubt Valve is rigging this battle. It makes complete sense why different teams seem to be winning at least once.
Comment has been collapsed.
That would make some sense unless you paid any attention to the scores yesterday. Purple and red were fighting it out all day and the lead flipped between the two teams multiple times. That and purple's score was higher yesterday than it was when they won. Purple was very determined to win a second day and then lost steam in the last 6 hours somewhere since I recall a 10k lead for purple when I went to bed 6 hours before it ended.
Right now though? Yeah, not much of a point since everyone is 40k points behind green. Unless someone else gets close green will likely have no competition all day.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, but Purple was at the very bottom day 1, while Red (I believe?) was at the top with an extremely wide lead. Then, the next thing you know, Purple took it. So anything could happen provided the teams don't give up.
Comment has been collapsed.
It was pink, day 1 red was on the bottom all day.
Comment has been collapsed.
It still makes sense. Someone on red started going at it early on. Once you've already contributed that much, you're in it for the long haul: irrational sunk cost fallacy. On the other hand, if you're team is close to winning, everyone might be encouraged to craft that second badge. Each vote, erm point, matters right? Plus, if your team is winning, everyone is sure going to craft at least once for a chance at three free games.
And that means Pink and Blue are building up their tokens. As a Pinker, I'm already waiting with my Adventure Cards for those 10 points.
Comment has been collapsed.
It is possible.. But I think people are just smarting than what you think.
Think of it this way, your team is last place, why would you craft the badges at this point when there is no chance to win? Heck, save the cards for the next day and give your team a huge boost.

Also first winner, purple's head is a triangular prism :3

I don't even know what's going on with points anymore, there's no way people are crafting 1 badge per second, or more...
Unless those massive changes are just due to a bunch of point stealing tokens or whatever.

75 million active users (Janaury) with around 3 million new users per month. So that's around 80 total.
16 mil per team. But daily users users is probably a lot less and only portion of these are idiots enough to craft. (tenth? 1.6 mil still)

No worries, they will win tomorrow probably. And they were 2nd earlier, but there is simply no fight to give green.

There's html code that you can easily edit thought.
<div class="summersale_board_winner_overlay">
<div class="winner day_0 team_purple"></div>
<div class="winner day_1 team_red"></div>
</div>
I'll leave it as home work how to add or edit winners.

That was pretty much my thinking. Since this was linked yesterday, there was a one in five shot at getting the second day right, which is plausible, especially if they already had something to go off of when the points were shaping up. Getting two in a row right you only have a 4% chance, maybe a bit better if you consider knowledge from partial points, as mentioned. Either way, much slimmer odds. Getting yet another after that would make it as good as proven in my book, but even today's winner being right would be extremely suspicious due simply to the odds against it being chosen randomly. If there were good reason to assume that prior winners could be excluded until everyone had won once, then the numbers become more plausible, but that supposition relies on the assumption of rigging already, since there's no other reason to think that would be the case.

There are active genocides in the world, some entire populations have an inadequate supply of drinkable water, poverty, corrupt governments, disease, THE WORLD IS IN PERIL. But if Steam doesn't start acting right, motherfuckers are gonna LOSE it.
Daaaaang.

Wait, if you really do care, what the fuck are you doing here? Why aren't you out there, stopping wars, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, fighting diseases, bringing down corrupt governments, saving the world from imminent destruction? You know why? Because these things are on your mind exactly 20 secs in your day - when you write smart-ass comment and when you're flicking channels on your big, overpriced LED/LCD/PLASMA 55" TV and your remote decide to briefly stop working on one of "dem boring, 24/7 news" channels.

You should try that at a funeral. "Your dad died? Come on, man! There are active genocides in the world, some entire populations have an inadequate supply of drinkable water, poverty, corrupt governments, disease, THE WORLD IS IN PERIL. But just one person dies and you're losing it? What's wrong with you?"

Long time no see!
..wait...
Are you comparing the possibility Steam may be conducting some devious tactics with the death of a parent?
Well

I have you tagged as a flame troll for some reason. I don't remember what for, but I think I can see why already.

Hell, I don't remember "what" it was that one of us said to the other that led the other party to shun the other.
I'm thinking it had to do with one of the scam threads back when the EA bundle was riddled with problems such as cc fraud and such. I don't remember.
I don't get pissed at anyone, so are you the the thin-skinned one?

well, if one team has a (big) lead the following happens:
players in that team will craft things to keep the lead
players in other teams will craft the next day, because second place gets nothing
consequently the winning team will probably not be the same 2 days in a row
the only thing screwing that is the change teams tokens -> if one team gets significantly more players it will always win (and everyone will change into that team)

10 days total - 5 teams = 2 wins each.
Both teams won by taking large margins at the start and looks like green does it today.
So is it actually rigged to create competition to increase number of craftings?
No giveaway because I'm lazy...
