I've now seen at least hundred random posts in this forum saying bad things about Games for Windows Live.

In over two years, I have never had even a single problem with GFWL. What the fuck do you all have against it!?

I just closed this topic because I got enough answers. If anyone wants to continue the discussion in private, feel free to add me as a friend.

I dunno. It just disturbs my GTA IV experience, I guess.

You shouldn't have to use a third party application to get a decent gaming experience.

I have many problems with GFWL. Seriously even cause I'm live in Russia. Only about 1 year ago finally russians can register and play online in GFWL. ANd even in online I have many problems and sometimes I can't register game. But GFWL have one good thing - I can use any key from any GFWL game and activate him on 40 games. That's really kewl.

I like how people blame GFWL (or any specific game) as not working and being buggy instead of seeing if maybe it's their computer that's funky. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City both worked fine for me, as it did for many other people. Instead of blaming GFWL, you should probably look into there being some specific issue with your hardware, software, or what have you.

I prefer Steamworks, but I won't shun a game entirely just because of GFWL.

Don't worry, many of us are competent users. That's the first thing I checked.

"GFWL experienced an error unhelpful error code"

Checks other programs to see if they work, and they do

It's a finicky program with very little flexibility. The software is supposed to work for as many configurations as is reasonable, not the other way around. You shouldn't have to have a certain hardware configuration approved by Microsoft and only Microsoft programs on your computer.

That's called a Xbox. We don't do that here.

Cause Steam does it SO much better. So much. GFWL comes off as totally intrusive and annoying.

Steam is one HUNDRED THOUSAND times more annoying than GFWL according to my experience with both

I think maybe you should make a post explaining the troubles you had with Steam and compare them to the lack of troubles with GFWL.

Steam troubles are usually a VERY easy fix.

If you're not in a supported country: That. Kinda sucks having a game come out but not in your region because GFWL doesnt support your region

Other than that: Valve fanboys.

It's terrible, literally has broken games for me to a state where I can't play them. I didn't mind it in the Batman games or GTA IV, but Dirt3 is a bad enough experience for life. Big fan of Grid I was upset when halfway through the game I decided to get DLC, had to buy the stupid microsoft points and than installing was inconvenient, long and cumbersome. After that my game wouldn't work and I can't use the DLC, the microsoft points are set up so you are never have a balanced account which is stupid

Also it has so much less functionality than xbox live yet it is on the PC, the overlay is so slow to load and use. No party chat to begin

it won't even let me buy any of their games on steam. I have Bulletstorm, a friend of mine gifted it to me, and it deleted my saves. GAH I don't like it at all

It's aggravating, intrusive and makes adding DLC into a pain in the ass, especially for something like say... Gotham City Imposters, where you have to go through the same five (or so) steps every gorram time you want to input DLC. THEN you have to wait for the piece of shit "Games Marketplace for Windows" to launch, download and install the DLC and the whole time you're sitting there fucking PRAYING that it doesn't crash, cos otherwise it will have to manually be told to REDOWNLOAD the DLC (apparently it doesn't save it to your computer or something?) then install it, hopefully.

Seriously, it took GMfW 5 HOURS to install Harley Quinn's revenge. Wtf is that shit? Why wasn't it just included in some sort of bullshit "Game of the Year" edition and save me the trouble of waiting for Microsoft's broken as hell downloader to actually work for a change?

meh, not so bad... now stuff like Origin and the likes are much worse. gfwl just seems more of a minor nuance for a few people than an intrusive evil attempt at legalized spyware... like some other drms...

When I saw AoE Online on Steam, I decided to give it a try. Anyway, it took me over an hour to get it to work in the first place because GFWL didn't want to sync with my Steam account (or whatever it was doing). Then the game sucked anyway. I'll stick with Steam, thanks.

GFWL doesn't let me use the save games on my computer, and insists I use the saves on GFWL... so whenever I start up Fallout I have to log out of GFWL again.

It has absolutely no use when you have Steam since Steam is better in every aspect. Additionally, GFWL often has login problems and kicks you back to the main menu. Also, most game developers seem to think that having achievements in GFWL is enough even if the game is on Steam, too. Same with those community features, it takes about 4 clicks in a slow and unresponsive GUI to join the game of a friend >_>
