"The Steam release trailer went live early and is now private. A store listing has also been discovered, though it's not currently live.

A new trailer (which has since gone private) has emerged for Rising Star Games’ Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. The survival horror is apparently out on PC today via Steam, though the store listing doesn’t appear to be live yet. Publisher Thunderful Games confirmed the PC version’s existence in last year’s annual report.

Touted as both a prequel and sequel to the original, Deadly Premonition 2 sees players alternating between Agent Davis, who investigates the Le Carré serial murders in the present day and Agent Francis York Morgan who ventures to the town in 2005. Much like the original, players can explore the town, interact with its various citizens and partake in activities like skateboarding, bowling and more.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise originally launched in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch. The reception, both from fans and critics, was mixed due to the technical issues and performance problems. Check out our review here for more details. Stay tuned for more details on the PC release in the coming hours."

so instead of fixing the version on Switch it looks like they will bring what sounds like a broken and buggy game to Steam - whoopee

Who knows, it could be a blessing in disguise. Don't you think Zach?
too bad the dialogues don't hit the spot on this one

Hopefully it doesn't run as bad as the switch version.

Optimization aside, I've heard that it's worse than the first game in every single aspect. Gameplay (how is that even possible?), but most importantly - characters, dialogues and plot.

"Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise requires a controller in order to play. Playing with a keyboard and mouse isn't supported"
Not a good sign.

Because it's a pc game and the first thing a game should do when getting to a new platform is work with said platform default controller. Imagine if a ps5 game launched with the warning "this game can only be played with a Nintendo Switch Pro controller. Playing with a Dualsense is not supported". It's the same thing. A few games do it on pc but that doesn't make it anymore ok.

sorry i can't dis agree with you more not every game is going to be good with keyboard - i think with how easy getting a controller at a decent price is these days it's not really a problem

it wouldn't make a bit of difference if you played DP2 with mouse and keyboard, they simply couldnt be bothered to do the bare minimum. the same way they couldnt bother make it run at an aceptable frame rate on the switch.
this series took advantage of its cult status and delivered nothing...and i say this as a fan of the original that will most likely by the sequel again.

should also point out that the original was a console game and it has K&M support. It plays like crap but its there.

what plays like crap in general or just using k and m? if the latter maybe it's ok they removed it

the gameplay itself was crap as it was never meant to be a shooter and that was sort of imposed on the team to make the game more appealing. To be able to point with the mouse actually makes it easier, not that the game was hard to begin with.

You wont really notice much of a difference with K&M considering most of the game was exploring and talking to npc´s. Even the car in the first game was extremely sensitive with the analogue, to the point where you had about the same precision using the Keyboard.

there are games where controller should be discussed for sure. A fighting game works best with a specific controller. In fps you could consider separating mouse and aim assist on controller. Racing games are better with a wheel

Nothing about DP needs a controller, its just that they programmed the game for the switch and most you will get out of them is a straight port that wont even be optimized for pc, for a game that had bugs crashes framerate that dipped into single digit.
i will play on controller if i have to. As long as the game works, but the lack of support already makes for a bad first impression.

Here's what Jim Stephanie Sterling had to say about the game:

"Notice: Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise requires a controller in order to play. Playing with a keyboard and mouse isn't supported."
Looooooooool, on top of everything else they didn't even bother implementing these controls... Truly a shame, I remember being quite interested when they first announced a sequel was happening.

so you can't play on pc with a controller then? or more to the point what is wrong with using a controller on pc

Nope.
And it's about the laziness of not implementing those controls.

i really don't understand? it's not lazy to have controls only for a controller if you think this way just don't play these games

I don't know how you can't understand so I will simply quote SomeoneTookMyUsernam because they already worded it quite clearly.

so if people don't like using controllers on pc why do they sell them by the bucket load i guess all those people and me are idiots who should just go buy a ps5 then?

Nobody said "people don't like using controllers on pc" at any point.
Read again.

the first thing a game should do when getting to a new platform is work with said platform default controller

For PC games the default controller is mouse and keyboard, ergo not integrating those in a game's PC release is lazy from the devs.

People like using controllers but to which games that is a matter of preference.
The vast majority of pc games have K&M support simply because thats what you are expected to own, just like on ps5 you own a ds controller not a Nunchuk.
As a matter of fact, some consoles have had K&M support yet publishers never forced you to play using it...and why not? keyboards are sold by the bucket load, right?
I own DS controllers since PS1. Dark souls feels better with a controller, for sure, though they do give you other options, but im not gonna play DOOM with a controller, thats just an inferior way of playing the game.

PS: Im not sure if you are being defensive over controllers or DP2, hope its not the latter

Doom better with keyboard - never played it so i can't say and i don't know DP as a series but saying that keyboards are sold as much as controllers is crazy and you can use one of hundreds of controllers on PC not one type only so many more people have them - in fact (i use a laptop only) i bet more people have a controller they can use on a computer than a keyboard - but and this is a general question why when the Switch version of this game and the Steam version of the first game are thought badly of - did people think this would be much better?

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise requires a controller in order to play. Playing with a keyboard and mouse isn't supported.

It's a....... Unity-based game without k+m support? It would be harder to not make a game with it than the other way around. Truly bizarre.
