If you like trivia, you may want to visit SteamGifts.com's chat room Sunday. You know the one, right? The one for the Steam group.

So February 26th, this Sunday, Col. Jack O'Neill SG-1 is sponsoring a Trivia with the theme of Orwellian Dystopia. The time for that is 6 PM EST5EDT, that is to say 6 in the evening for me.

The prize is Beholder, and there are three of them.

Rules are important, they impose structure, order. They remain the same as they ever were, though sadly chat no longer gives me an easy way to keep a log of it, so I won't bother trying to keep one for later posting, sorry.

Zero: As with a site quiz, don't give other people answers. If you're turned in, you're barred from all future trivias I have anything to do with.

One: Answering a question with a valid answer earns you a point, answering a Trick Question by pointing out it is a trick and explaining why gains you two points, answering a question with a detailed response as judged by the Trivia Master du jour will earn you two points, getting the special detailed answer after someone gets a valid answer will still earn you a single point.

As an example:

12:16 PM - chronicdiscord: We all know the Grimace is a citizen of McDonaldland, but what was he when originally introduced?
12:16 PM - Deirü: Alive.
12:16 PM - Judge Jade: An evil villain
12:17 PM - MMRhino: He was a fast food worker
12:17 PM - cg: an insect-like villain that stole milkshakes

Now, here we see cg giving The Right One™, but after Jade gave one that worked... What happens here is that both Jade and cg get a single point, had cg's come in first, he would have gotten both points.

Two: The objective of Trivia Night is to obtain a position in the Top Ten of those participating that night, thus earning you a slot in a ten slot private giveaway. In the event of low scoring players having a tie, we will run a small elimination round to ensure we only have 10 entries for the giveaway. If anyone else answers, correctly or falsely, in this time, it's a ban, we don't want anyone mucking up Trivia Night. Before asking a question the Trivia Master will block all chatting, unblock, then ask the question, then you answer, this prevents people from complaining about anyone getting a head start with their answers and gives you all a clear sign that the question is incoming.

Three: While Trivia is running, the Trivia Master's name will be green, because they will be running a game in the background. You will not be green, only the Trivia Master gets to talk and be green, this is to ensure no confusion for people as to when official Trivia stuff is being said.

Four: No spamming answers. You can only give one answer per person per minute, any more and you are considered to be spamming. This is based on the Trivia Master's screen and what their timestamps say. There is no other way around this, it's harsh, but it's the best we can do. Any copypasta of longer than 15 characters will be treated as spam and dealt with accordingly. Spamming answers will have all your answers be ignored.

Five: The first to answer gets the point, based on what the Trivia Master sees, you complain, we ban, and no, there will be no kick step on this. You may request a recheck, no one's eyes are perfect, but don't go moaning about being pingfucked, that's not cricket.

Six: If you complain about the questions, you get kicked without warning. There have been way too many Trivia Nights where we see nothing but people saying, "ask more questions about things I know!" You are missing the point and you are being incredibly rude to the people asking the questions and putting up the prizes.

Seven: You can challenge an answer that has been selected by the Trivia Master if you feel it is incorrect, but to do so you must provide a source quickly, before we have moved too many questions on. Quickly is a time limit judged by the Trivia Master, not you.

As fair warning, often times the trivia questions asked may qualify as spoilers to the things which they deal with, so if we have a topic you are interested in going into without it being spoiled, you may not want to show up for that night. If you're really interested in seeing Girls und Panzer without it being spoiled, skip Girls und Panzer night. Luckily this week is about shit that never happened in nations that really don't exist anymore, so even if it is a spoiler, it really is something of a, "you would know already if you really cared," issue.

If you can play by these rules, then you can join us for Trivia Night. And heck, if you want to run your own night, with your own questions or prize, maybe we can do that some time if we find sponsors and question providers. And seriously, thanks to those folk who have sponsored trivia nights in the past.

There were a good number of them, some that never got added to the list, but this is a few of the old Trivias for those curious about what you may be walking into.

Yeah, it is on the SteamGifts.com group page. Should also be at the bottom of the website, next to the megaphone, says, "chat."

chronic is doing the questions, I hope they're not too hard, it could be factual stuff like history, current events, etc, or could be fictional orwellian stuff like actual Orwell, or games, or movies, or other books.

We need at least three people to score a point, chronic, hopefully we can get to the ten list! :)

Thanks again for taking the time, chronic. :)

Not planned, no. I would be available two hours after the normal time, so I figured I would not go looking for a sponsor or anything.
