The second one was "acting", so it's not so bad, I guess?! The first one sounds really shitty though. But nah, I doubt he's a nazi. He doesn't actually hate Jews. He just wants to attract attention and gain more subs, that's all. He should be punished for his actions though. When you're famous, your words have weight and you should be held accountable for your actions. But most youtubers all like this nowadays - full of clickbait stuff, trying to attract attention, controversial videos, hateful comments, etc.

The point of the $5 indian guys thing was a critique of Fiverr, trying to show how it's kinda gross that on the internet you can pay random strangers small amounts of money to do anything or just the most ridiculous stuff. The sign wasn't anything to do with jews. Specifically the indian guys held the sign, while saying "Subscribe to Keemstar!" Keemstar (another Youtuber) was the butt of the joke, like tongue-in-cheek implying that Keemstar was involved with antisemitic hate. I can agree that the whole video was in poor taste and probably a bit too edgy and the joke fell flat, but it's ridiculous to proclaim that Pewdiepie is a neo-nazi. He's not even right-wing or anything. He's a left-wing liberal computer nerd and yearly gives millions to charity.

He never roleplayed as Hitler and killed jews in a game. In fact, in some of his recent videos he actually killed Hitler under the concept that he was "going back in time to assassinate Hitler." The whole thing was a media hit job, and then it escalated and people made a huge mountain out of a molehill. He's just a nerdy awkward guy who made a couple edgy jokes, which all fell flat. Look at people like Tim Heidecker or Eric Andre, Borat ("throw the jew down the well") and many other entertainers who have made extreme antisemitic jokes, dressed as Hitler, argued that Hitler wasn't such a bad guy, etc etc. None of these people have been crucified by the media and the general public, people just shrug it off as a joke. Often it's bad taste, it's still a joke, even if it's a bad joke. And Felix has paid the consequences. And that's fine and good, since his content has changed over the last couple years so he probably wasn't a good fit for his network any more anyway.

Also the argument about Pewdiepie's followerbase of millions of preteens is also incorrect. Yes, that was true 10 years ago when he was making awful Let's Play content, 900 episodes of Happy Wheels, etc. But he has grown up, he's 30 or something. His audience has also grown up, and he has gained new subs of the ilk who watch stuff like h3h3, filthyfrank, iDubbbz, etc, and he doesn't make gaming content any more. Plus his entire channel is age-restricted. His active audience is mainly people in their low-to-mid twenties. They're not impressionable 7 year olds. The actual REAL impressionable 7 year olds are probably on /b/ looking at gore threads and being groomed by real neo-nazi groups and child predators.

While I do agree that a frightening percentage of people nowadays are idiots and will repeat any "insult" they hear like a bunch of robots, I believe there is also some social engineering involved. In this case it's something called "persuasive (re)definition". Basically it involves people with some view point (would it be political, religious or whatever) twisting the meaning of a word to serve their agenda and when called out on it claiming that their meaning it the "true" one. If they are convincing enough (or people just believe them enough for no reason) that could lead to the word's original meaning being basically erased from the minds of the general population. So, more or less, that's what "nazi", "racist" and some other "insults" that people really like to throw around have become lately. Just "Random generic way of calling someone who disagrees with you" number XX.
This video talks briefly about Persuasive Redefinition but I should warn you- if you ever watch that guy's videos you'll lose any faith you had left in humanity. :P

I was way too tired to formulate a proper reply to your thread last night, so if you'll allow me, I'll go ahead and clarify what I wanted to say. :P

The reason some people use "Nazi" as the first insult they think of, is most likely because it is already "trending", as you mentioned in your thread regarding PewDiePie (I have no idea what this is about honestly, so I'm just assuming based on what I'm reading here) - basically, people hear and see "Nazi" being used a lot online, so the first thing they think of when attempting to get a raise out of someone is to say "Nazi".

This makes me a bit suspicious that, regardless of what people said about/to you, getting insulted that much could mean that maybe you are being um... not exactly super courteous in conversations? That or you visit really shitty communities, heh. :P

Take it with a grain of salt, I'm not saying you're a bad person or anything, just that sometimes one's behavior may appear normal to themselves, but to other it appears rude and condescending. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Conclusion, people are immature and will often say the first thing they think about when angry. Avoid communities where people do that, as it probably means discussing anything with them will be a waste of your time. ^^

There's a difference between a Hitler fanboy and a person who admires one who really was intelligent. I admire a lot of historical figures good or bad, who really were intelligent and could inspire people just like that. There are current such figures, some of them I hate deeply, but respect for what they did and how they did it, because a stupid person would never manage to do it.

Taking every word and meaning out of the context we are in this state and why the casual offense is "You're a nazi" or "you're hitler". But yes. Clearly this is politics and I'm one of the candidates for the elections and we need to show my dirty shirts all around.
