I'm thinking about buying a new graphics card http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1160&lid=1&pid=1487&leg=0# but it says i need a 500w power supply and i only have a 300w one, so is it possible to upgrade it, if so whats a good brand for one?

+1 for Seasonic. Doesn't XFX use Seasonic parts in their PSUs?

As well as Corsair in their high end units, and probably Antec in some of their units. Seasonic is pretty much the godfather of PSUs lol.

Yeah but is it possible to upgrade without anything going wrong?

Unless you have knives for hands I doubt anything could go wrong...

It is not possible. Success is this type of exercise is unheard of. The venture is doomed to failure.

I have read your tea leaves, and my decaf lavender Darjeeling is almost never wrong...

Just watch where the actual connector are and then connect the new ones in the same way, Anyway each connector has a particular shape.
The video card probably will need a secondary supply line (cable from the PSU) other than the PCIE port, while your actual card doesn't.

Even with those he should look for an efficiency at least over 80% because even good names have some sub-par products on sale.

Btw, just to be sure, i suggest a PSU of at least 550-600 Watt.

I'm not sure what GPU you're planning to upgrade to, or your other specs, but from what I've read in your OP about you being stuck with a 300w PSU, your current specs can't be that power hungry, you should be fine with the cx500.

All great brands here.

Don't go with off brands/cheap PSU's, you will regret it when they take your whole computer down.

Enermax, Seasonic, Corsair. Don't look at the price, it's a very important component.
