AI news has been mostly depressing since you've been gone, my friend but I think you would have enjoyed this one
Google made an AI model to talk to dolphins
There's a slight chance we might antagonize the most intelligent species in our oceans (sorry, octopi) but at least it's not a Meta LLM :D

Well, to be honest, just because we might be able to communicate in basic repetition of patterns, like aping them, doesn't mean we will be able to subjugate or manipulate them.
Maybe when someone develops a dolphin brain chip but I think they're too busy subjugating humans to care.
At this point the LLM has just begun training using the 4 decades of the Wild Dolphin Project. They have modest goals. Just being able to repeat some dolphin patterns and trying to predict what comes next.

I recently finished one of my wins from Icaio.

I was just listening to a random radio on a website Icaio mentioned once called Radio Garden where you can literally listen to radios from all over the world and it just tuned into an Italian Radio called "Radio Sleep" that plays pleasant white noise like rain, waves and nature sounds so I guess it knows my needs.
Made me miss 'Caio so I dropped a couple of double starred GAs in the train.

He is missed in ways that cannot be expressed. Lots of late night conversations over Steam chat, and working on crazy events for SG with him. I'll keep adding to this train as long as people are interested in it being a thing.
And yes, anyone can add to it. Just make your GAs invite-only, and put the link in the comments of the current last cart. Everyone who just wants to be part of some good karma and good SG memories should feel welcome to participate in whatever way they'd like. :)

Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
ANOTHER EDIT, just a quick update
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
