the neptunia games and also Valykria Chronicles (although that is too difficult for me lol)

I just beat The Darkness II a few days ago. I loved the first game, and while the second one is more of a linear FPS than the first one was, it was still pretty great. The story is really interesting, and using the demon powers is a blast, if rather gory.
But I get what you're saying. Sometimes I just want to play something that's just fun. There are lots of games that are great, but not necessarily a joy to play. Most of the games that give me joy are all only on consoles, though. Things like the Katamari games, de blob 2, Super Mario Galaxy, etc. LIMBO was a joy to play, and that's on PC. Just Cause 2 is my go-to palette cleanser after a serious game. Its so stupid and over-the-top that it makes for a quick change of pace.

The game that makes me fuzzy now is Binary Domain. I configured the voice recognition to recognize more or less my imperfect and slightly broken English and I'm totaly blown away by the amount of fun this game gives me. And the story is surprisingly deep if you gather bits and pieces. Oh and voice commands are fun as hell :D

Is it really worth using the voice commands? I hate chatting when I play multiplayer in any game, so I kind of figured I wouldn't bother with the voice commands for single player. Do they add anything interesting to the game? Aren't all of the same interactions otherwise available?

They allow you to order your squad around while using your hands to move, aim & fire.
Get it working, and it can give a significant benefit in the trickier firefights. At least, that's what I found.

It's more about fleshing out interactions with teammates rather than being useful :) And it's challenging to configure it properly, I still can't make it understand shit and fuck command so it's hit or miss with those, but dialogue commands and most of those in battle works. It's damn fun to watch when you give specific orders by name to your teammates, like telling Faye, your sniper to cover you when you go on a killing spree with Bo telling him to charge. I tried playing without voice commands and I felt...hmm strangely restricted. Dunno about no voice recognition gameplay in later parts but you can also get some useful advice through speaking names, either from Major Philips from HQ or other squad members when they are away.

The Talos Principle This one was actually so good that I now consider it to be one of the best games that I've ever played.
The Witcher 3 Open world 3rd person ARPG done very very right. Sure, it had a couple of flaws, but on the whole, this game is bound to become one of those that people talk about for years and years to come.
Homeworld Remastered HD-update done very very right. It takes the original Homeworld, fixes most of the issues that were there, and gives it a fresh coat of pretty paint.
Europa Universalis 4 Still playing this one, and I got it not too far from launch. Might tell you something about what I think of it (hint: I think it's great).
Tales of Maj'eyal Another game that I've had for quite a wile, and played a lot of. My favourite rogue like to date.

The first ones that come to my mind are the banner saga and battleblock theater, I personelly enjoyed both of them.
Might drop other titles when I fully wake up

If you have all 3 games by the time Final Cut comes out (2015 September) U will get the Final Cut version for free. It contains all 3 games with all the DLCs as well. So if you are missing only the third, if you buy that, you will get Final cut for free. (Otherwise its like 50$ for those who doesnt own all 3 games.) Its a whole game, all of the 3 games smashed together extended level cap 80+, extended skilltree, and more difficulty levels also lot more items. Devs say it will contain 3x more items, monsters etc than D3.

Of the games that I finished recently that I can recommend...
Higurashi: When they cry - was looking forward to playing this, great story if you are into VN and story based games. I instantly watched the anime as well. I've fallen slightly in love with it. Although I know VN are not to everyones taste.
Valkyria Chronicles - marvelous game. Xcom meets FPS meets anime. I played it through without a break, I'm thinking about a second playthrough already. If you own this game, play it now.
Saints Row 4 - do you want to have superpowers in a free roam city? Do you like laughing and ridiculous set ups. Play this game, lfor the more action orientated player rather than the first two suggestions.

Rayman Origins. Blowing me away right now. I like very few platformers outside of the original Sonics and Mario- most feel clunky, slow, and heavy, but Rayman is the smoothest thing ever. Even the underwater levels are fun.

Basically I'm looking to see what games you/ye have played this year that you/ye found fun and why :) Even more basic - I'm bored.
Now the game that you will be talking about doesn't have to have came out this year & I would prefer if you talked about something that is available on PC (But I'll let you off if you mention more than one and at least one is on PC). I would also like to know if the game stops being fun after a short period of time - long.
PS: Not interested in MMO's as they are mostly based on the people you play with for proper enjoyment.
tl:dr - Press the 'X' image at the top right, red circle on a MAC & have a good day :)
