Great concept for a group! Also skipping a lot of mixed games, good reason to give them a try
Examples of reviews I wrote
Review of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Review of Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
Any rules about region restrictions?

Hi friend! Glad to see your application and enjoyed reading your reviews. I posted this right before bed so I'll add you when I wake up 😄 i think region restrictions will be something we discuss once there are enough members to determine what works best for everyone. Right now, I think as long as there's a member who can enter, it's fine. :)

Great points! We'd probably have to purchase keys specifically to give away for the group, which I know will be an instant deal breaker for a lot of people. On the flipside, games with mixed reviews do come around cheap (fated souls 3 is about $1 on steam right now).
As for the reviews, games need 70% to hit positive and mixed starts at 40%, so we'd only really be breaking the tie for fellow group members anyways. It's more of a community building/accountability feature of the group. :)

Great idea! Let's get those games out of the mixed reviews hell and into the real, true suffering negative reviews hell 😈
All jokes aside, it really is a great idea. I'll join up.
Edit: my reviews can all be found here.

I agree! There are also a few games that have bad reviews because the rng is low or the game is super grindy. I'd like to hear of those from members because I personally don't mind those aspects.
I've sent you a friend request to invite you to the group. I couldn't load your reviews for some reason but I see you have a lot so I trust that you have great insights.

Oh I forgot to set my reviews to public. They were for a long time but then some troll started tagging them all with clown awards for some reason and it got annoying so I set them to friends only.
You should be able to see them now that I accepted your request.

Sometimes there are just a majority of bad reviews because the game doesn't have the option to rebind controls. I mean, I get it, it can be annoying if you are used to a certain way of playing but you can use Steam to do that and games get unfair ratings that means people will pass on them.
So yeah getting honest reviews is interesting.

I gather the rebinding keys thing is a problem with alternative (or some international) keyboard layouts, where WASD is suddenly not an intuitive plus shape, but scattered across the keyboard. 😄
But yeah, Steam is pretty cool about allowing rebinding of things to various inputs. (Reply to 2 months old comment, go!)

lol it's not necro if someone did it first, right? ;)
Yeah I think that's why I started playing with controllers on PC early on. I was switching computers between a QWERTY and an AZERTY (French computers) when I was at my grandparents for weeks in the summer and I was just losing my marbles.
By the time I would get used to the switch, I'd be back home and hitting the wrong keys all over again.
Not only is WASD not in the right shape on the AZERTY keyboards but the Z and W are switched so you are always going backwards when you want to go forward. It gets frustrating fast but like you said Steam is very flexible with rebinding even when games don't allow it so that really should not be a reason to review a game poorly.

Hello I'm glad to see that you have a new group, I would like to join it as a motivation to write reviews for games. I honestly rarely write reviews precisely because I don't want to insult the game, and precisely because I didn't see much point in it, but by the way, I've recently played a lot of indie projects(and found come interesting), I think I'll add reviews to them, I usually leave them in Russian, but for the group I'll leave them in English.

Only two of my reviews are for games with Mixed ratings:
Dinocide
Back 4 Blood
Most of the games I play tend to have Very Positive reviews, but I'm always open to discovering more hidden gems. Could be an interesting idea for a group.

I apologise, that was supposed to have the steam group link for easy access instead of just being a bump. Now I'm a nervous about even replying 😂 but i won't be active on this thread at all anymore to help alleviate my spam, sorry once again 🙏🏻

Look at the 2 posts before and the timestamps.
Edit:
I don't mean the occasional bump when a thread has disappeared but mutliple posts.

A giveaway group with extra steps.
The Tie Breakers is dedicated to games with a "mixed" user rating.
You must play your win and write a review for the game. Share your review with the group along with your final verdict: Positive or Negative. Get it, you break the tie, so we're tie breakers? Anyways..
I often skip the titles with mixed reviews when hosting in other groups but some of my own favourites to play have mixed reviews, so I know there are some hidden gems among this rating. Thought this might be a nice idea, something a bit different to keep things interesting. Hopefully some of you will agree and join me ☺️
Rules:
• All games must have MIXED (40%-69% positive) user ratings on steam
• No early access games (reviews are usually mixed because the game concept is good but not finished/buggy)
• Play your wins
• Review your wins
• Share your review in the Steam Group on the dedicated thread & choose a Positive or Negative Verdict
• One giveaway per calendar month is required from every user
If we get enough members to make moving forward worthwhile, we'll discuss & decide on other details between us in the group (timeline for reviews etc)
Entry Requirements:
• Steam Gifts level 3
• All SG wins activated unless you can offer a reasonable explanation
If you're interested & willing to adhere to the conditions above, please apply by leaving a comment that links to one of your past steam reviews.
Thanks! Hope to see you there.
Rosa x
