Have you heard of Bolivia? Yes! the country with no access to the sea.
Well, if you are unaware of what's happening, Evo Morales "won" the elections.
Thing is, for starters, he's been president for thirteen years, which is unconstituional. This year, however, it is worse because some years ago there was a referendum to decide if he was allowed to run for president once again and the results were no. He didn't care and still ran for it.
Now, back to the past Sunday (the 20th), when the counting of votes was at 83% the results showed that there was going to be a ballotage, but the counting was stopped with no explanation to resume the day after to show an unusual increase in the votes for Evo and declare him winner with no need for a second round.
Of course, people are mad, we don't want him as president any longer, no one should have the power for so long so some cities engaged a civic strike. We are protesting peacefully for democracy and what was his answer? He sent his people with dinamite to block the roads to prevent us from getting food.
And I feel like this is just the beginning…
So, yeah, have some stuff.

Will things solve peacefully

Do you have the same thing as Russia, where someone can switch between President and Prime Minister (?) over and over again to stay in power for decades?
I don't think so. What he did was to change the country from a republic to a plurinational state, whatever that means, and said he was president of the republic but no the plurinational state, therefore he was allowed to run again, this year he didn't even give an excuse.

So, pretty much Merkel.
So, pretty much Bush father and son.
So, pretty much Clinton spouses if only she didn't fail.
??? who of the above ruined the country they ruled ?
and take unfair action to "stay" in this position ?
Implying Putin ruined?
The truth is: the US does not have a law preventing from third term, they have a TRADITION since George Washington. Unwritten tradition. Our Constitution was written in early 90-s when we were under the influence of the US, and they added a restriction on 3-rd term, but then things changed, and Putin decided to break the tradition that wasn't even ours, while not breaking our own law.
I do not see a legal problem here.
Putin as President is bad for economy and freedoms? It's another question.
the US does not have a law preventing from third term, they have a TRADITION since George Washington. Unwritten tradition.
the US does not have a law preventing from third term, they have a TRADITION since George Washington. Unwritten tradition.
This is false.
2 term limit for president is in the US Constitution since 1951. And President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to 4 terms prior to the law being changed.
Ok, probably I'm wrong, it means after Roosevelt, I listened a lecture on US history yesterday and it was about 30-40-s. But it does not change my point.
Kudos to admitting you're wrong. You might want to use the opportunity to reflect how in your previous post you wrote "The truth is: [...some wrong stuff...]". Does that make you think what else you could be wrong about that you are very confident it is "true"? How did you end up believing in the thing that turned out to be wrong? Are you trying to find it out and willing to look at your thought processes or is it too uncomfortable?
No need to answer me, the questions can be beneficial to yourself if you want them to, and that's their point. I have to ask these questions myself also. :)
Everything else is true and the main point is unchanged. What are you trying to imply, speak straight, I don't like your lazy snake tactics.
I don't think that whatever I write will reach you, unless it is already your opinion.
Let me guess, "Putin is bad mmkay" thing, because German media says so 24/7 (I know a little bit about "free" German media, several members of my family live in Germany)? It's a discussable thing, but it's not connected with his third term, which we're discussing here.
It's actually because of his various actions and orders. Crimea immediately comes to mind. Ukraine. Poisoning journalists. Journalists conveniently falling off balconies was a bit of an epidemic as well. Band members being jailed for speaking out. Need I really go on?
Crimea is Russia, Ukraine is not a country, and I can't remember any journalists falling off a balcony. Traitors from secret service were poisoned, yes.
Putin "ruined"? Are you crazy or something? Look up population growth/wealth/life expectancy whatever Russian stats for Yeltsin period (the best president of all times, according to West) and then for Putin and never say such stupid thing again. And if you want to sign usual "evul Russian government stat agencies lie just for evulz", feel free to select whatever stat agency you prefer.
putin's dick (blue color on graph) are gonna fall harder this time, for fertile mothers are scarce..
oh, another ruski propaganda bolvan at sg..
Oh, another toxic Russian at SG.
Welcome aboard, mate!
I don't know about US, but in germany there is no law that prevents anyone from being counselor over a longer time.
The counselor isn't voted directly like it is with presidents, but their party is voted. The party on their own can decide who gets to be counselor
Turkey with Erdoğan too.
You forgot the Adams family (not those), Harrisons (not the pawn people), Madison / Tayler & Roosevelts.
Not sure if a certain POTUS that seems to have multiple personalities (or at least lives in 2 different realities) counts as related to himself. ;-)
Not really. Russians actually want Putin to rule them.
The ones that don't of course are...bullied/silenced/framed/imprisoned/blackmailed/killed etc.
I have no sympathy for Putin but these kind of messages mostly coming from americans, just make me laugh. If you think countries like EEUU are better, you only have to look at things like Guantanamo, Julian Assange or Middle East to see how they act too.
Even Spain, my country, have extreme corruption, all countries have their own shit
Oh please, I'm Russian, and I have to say that Jaxed is correct. Just take a few minutes and read about the current "Moscow case", for example.
Still, it's also true that the majority are totally fine with out president because they are literally unable to connect mass poverty and siloviki/court mayhem with a figure at the top of the system, he's obviously blameless - and stuff like annexing the part of a neighbor state or the situation with civil rights is totally ok in their minds. We've got a beautiful country with beautiful population.
I did not say anything about he lying or not, I just pointed out the irony and hipocresy of a lot of americans pointing out Russia and Putin as being evil, which I see a lot, while not making any self-criticism about his own country and all the shit they've done. I dont even know JaxedBeing or his nacionality, nor have anything against him.
By the way, me being a spaniard doesnt make me hold the truth about my country, as I can be biased. The same as you being russians. Obviously you know more about the shit happening in your country.
And as I said I really don't know very much about the situation in Russia, all the media here talk about my country or EEUU, and at times Venezuela when elections are coming xD
There was no need to criticize my own country to make a valid point about another. Plus it's just a historically true standard practice of any authoritarian regime. It would be hypocrisy if I had any actual power. So Trump calling out Putin (haha yeah right xD) would be. I am just a citizen like those Russians who can't get new a candidate...except with a little more power to protest or vote but better believe if I step too far out of line they'll squash me too or try anyway. I have my eye on the ridiculous circuses in the US...frankly at this point the US isn't going to solve it's problems without also solving Russia's and many others in one fell swoop(and I'm not talking military force country vs country I mean popular global ground swell from the masses supporting each other clearing out corruption)...wishful thinking I know lol. Btw I was actually born in Spain (somewhere around Cadiz), US military parents so wasn't there long enough to remember.
Nobody knows about this case besides Moscow Region. The life of Russia differs from how Meduza and Lentach depict it.
Approval rating of Putin is actually pretty low because of unpopular reforms and lack of economical growth, so the thesis about fear is bullshit.
Also I hate when young Russians on the Internet lick asses of foreigners trying to be more liberal than Ayn fucking Rand, instead of being actual selves discussing the things as they are, with pros and contras.
Well, that was really rude. Is going around offending people your way of provoking discussion? Do you really think that if you go around throwing shit like this someone might take your position seriously? Oh, and don't bother answering - or do, I don't actually care.
No, you care, because you know I'm right. I know this syndrome - a young educated Russian trying to get along with westerners spitting on his country, being sooo liberal. Self respect, son.
unable to connect mass poverty and siloviki/court mayhem with a figure at the top of the system, he's obviously blameless
unable to connect mass poverty and siloviki/court mayhem with a figure at the top of the system, he's obviously blameless
If only the Tsar knew of our troubles he could tell the boyars to stop.
I mean I can keep up with as many country's news as I wish...even smaller buried stories especially if they catch my eye for obvious corruption. And that corruption knows no borders...so more reason we should all work together and be vigilant of everyone's shit not just each our own geographical location. Keeping us separated and in the dark is how corrupt power remains powerful.
Did i heard about corruption? Step aside, we are the best at it (Greek).
Now to play the devil's advocate compared to previous Russian leaders he's not the worst; which considering Russia's horrific history, that's not saying much.
Mm true, a low bar to be sure...
"sometimes people just rub each other the wrong way, and that's life, on the internet one's whole personality is defined by what we say and not the intent with which we meant it. Every day I see people call out each other for being trolls without actually considering whether the remarks were actually genuine".
I tried to find a comment of yours I remember reading some time ago about the fact you rarely blacklisted but a bunch of people had blacklisted you (don't recall if you said the reason) and it was their loss that they did that. I couldn't find it but this one had a good enough point to stand on its own.
But having said by the end of the day you do you, of course. Perhaps I had understood wrong what you meant back then, who knows...
No, that wasn't the point. I thought it was clear, but apparently it wasn't.
Look at the topic in which the comment I pasted from is inserted. Look at what it is about.
That's also the reason I pasted this here (otherwise I would have used a more private GA)... granted I could have posted it on the topic I took the comment from but that topic is old and I dislike "necroing" stuff. :P
Except there never was a necro (as I stated that I avoided it) and It would then take way too long to explain how you go against what you say, so I would rather just enjoy it as it is.
As you perfunctorily made your mind about this, I wanted to probe and know a bit more about you.
So thanks for making things clearer about yourself. :))
If you can't connect the dots of your own contradictory behavior based on previous comments you yourself made I'm certainly not going to be the one to nurse you and explain it to you.
As I said you already made it clear of how you behave (and who you are), and that was enough for me, so I thanked you for that. No "uppity" about anything. Just genuinely thanking you for showing your colors and allowing me to make an informed decision.
Have a good day, mate.
Medvedev's presidency was a purely cosmetic one though. He was basically a puppet, de-facto Putin has been a president for almost 20 years.
No. Propaganda stereotype. He's a serious political person, he had his own crew and his own view. Still there is a clash between his and Putin's boys. And, I am grave serious now: Medvedev is more hard and vengeful than Vlad.
As bizarre as it may sound there's literally a cohalition formed by rich people and a bunch of politicians on South America which aims to install socialism in all the south american countries - this started as an idea from Fidel Castro. Several of the members of this cohalition are presidents and a bunch of others have been presidents in South American Countries. Evo Morales and Nicolás Maduro are some examples of "democratic presidents" that are also members (Evo Morales didn't go to this year's reunion which caused some concern on the cohalition). Hugo Chavez was also a member back when he was alive.
The group name is Foro de São Paulo.
I;d like to remind you that since you do not live in Russia, how we do things in Russia is none of your business.
Yeah, if someone gets in power and decides it is time to re-educate all ethnic Russians please take a step back :D
Not how geopolitics works. But thanks for playing.
certainly, it ain't my business, but it is open for discussion, as much as any other country politics
That's what every American would say, and it's a good habit.
I'm from Russia, and I feel you (I'm 34, and I was basically a child when Putin became a president). Although your post looks like you've got it worse (dynamite? WTF?); on the other hand, your people are at least ready to protest. I should probably read a bit more about the situation in Bolivia - your assumption is correct, the press is very loud about the situation in Chile (at least here), but I haven't heard about your issues before.
I was also like WTF because our protest is peaceful, there was no need for that but the group sent to block was the miners and they usually use dynamite on their protests so, I think what he wants is to create conflict so he can send the military
Did you read Gene Sharp? )
No, I haven't
You were 15 plus/minus year. (2000-(2019-34) = 15). That's not "a child" unless you follow modern trend of calling people "children" until late twenties.
So you are both saying the same thing...
I don't see any edits.
Hmm, you're right, I was pointing out the wrong thing.
I know that different countries have different "age of majority" and all that, but at least in the country he's from, "basically a child" is true for a 15 year old.
Anyone under the age of 16 in my country is a child, while they aren't a legal adult until 18. So yes, 15 is a child.
during the whole history no one won nothing with peace.
no more comments needed.
I guess I must hope we solve it peacefully because they have the resources for war, while the people doesn't
the people it's what give the power to them, no people, no power.
Whole story is a bit too much to say i guess, but yeah, unfortunately thats how most of the things work :/
That's not correct, actually some of the greatest changes and upsets in history were achieved peacefully.
That's because most of the peaceful and diplomatic accomplishments (unless pretty exceptionals like Ghandi or the Cold War) do not enter histrory books.
Look at 6:51 of this video, you might be surprised (or have good counterarguments?)
I'm from Argentina, seems like most of us in south america are fucked
I'm from Argentina too and I didn't hear about this yet. Yes I knew there had been some problems with the counting of votes, but media are all about our election and the crisis in Chile and forgetting about Bolivia almost completely.
I think it too. Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Chili (that won't organise Cop 25 cause of troubles), Colombia (and Farc), Ecuador (that I liked very much but with not their own money. They uses Us Dollars cause of troubles. Niw they have some other troubles with energy like petrol subvention). All theses countries are in bad way. I can add Mexico cause of lack of money in state chests ans I don't know enough cektral america to say something.
State that foreign election monitoring team is also strange.
In any case, there are things that can be detected just by looking at the “president's history”.
( 'Θ`)ooO(Bolivian gas dispute)
Venezuelan here. I really hope everything works out for your people.
Don't let him get away with it, if you don't fight back NOW it will be impossible later.
Do you prepare new lamp post on Plaza Murillo?)
Somehow people need to react. Get out of the latent state to regain control of their lives. I know it is easier said than done, but unfortunately peace will not bring you justice and the deserved peace.
Here in Brazil, thankfully, the damn socialism lost government in last year's elections and the new president is finally an honest person, but for more than 20 years Brazil has suffered in the corrupt hands of socialism. These are decades of degradation that will surely take a long time to recover and the country to thrive as it should, and I know that there is still a lot of corruption to be ripped off like cancer, but I feel we are finally on the right track. And believe me, the people together can overthrow any dictator. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in this struggle and may you be rid of this great evil that disturbs the peace and prosperity of your nation.
Er... Isn't your president an extreme right-wing neo-liberal that is burning down to ashes the rain forest so you can sell more soy to China? Good luck with that one and prepare for a rude awakening.
I don't know where you live, but be my guest and go live in Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, or even France, why not France?, since the dear President is turning France into pure shit. Or if that's not what you want, read, study, and find out before you talk bullshit and embarrass yourself.
Don't worry, I don't live in any of those places nor do I have any intention to visit them. Oh, I'm informed and I'm very well-read. Here for your education:
It was all fine till you linked CNN ja Vox. They are basically the same as linking Fox News or RT. The quality of media these days.
Proper sources with graphs and common sense:
Yeah, none of every mass media can be entirely trusted, not "media these days" as media from the past were the same or worse, but now we have more information to catch lies thankfully. Better to try to read everything to see which is more adjust to the truth and contrast it
But yeah, Bolsonaro is far right from every point possible. So lets not whitewash him
I read your previous comment and thought you were just misinformed (way more than average to be honest), but now, looking at this comment and your sources, I just feel bad for you...
I don't really know who are you addressing. But if it's me, you would not pretend that I give enough of a damn to post every single article or video, do you? I posted whatever came first and there are many many of those. With just a little intellectual curiosity, you can find all the info you want. Google it.
Am I misinformed? Maybe you live inside the bubble of your local media. Your right-wing media. But yeah, Make Brazil Great Again.
But don't feel bad, time will tell, as always.
Looks like you are way beyond misinformation. You seems to rule your life on presumptions. Even sources doesn't mean anything to you. You just have to google to find someone who wrote the bullshit you thought and voilà, you confirmed whatever you think about whatever. Man, what a way to live...
That is what we call a Whataboutism, look it up.
You don't have a good answer for his question so instead you point at others to try and shift the attention.
You, my friend, just embarrassed yourself.
I don't know where you live, but be my guest and go live in Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, or even France, why not France?, since the dear President is turning France into pure shit
I don't know where you live, but be my guest and go live in Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, or even France, why not France?, since the dear President is turning France into pure shit
LOL at least he's not a nazi who is running on a genocide platform. I don't know where you get your information (probably on IHATESJW.com but the economy is booming in France, unlike Brazil. If you're happy with your current dictator, good on you but I'm pretty sure that's not the case for most of your people who are scrambling to emigrate to Portugal and Europe. So yeah maybe stay in your own lane.
Don't waste your time trying to reason with it. It can't be done.
Edit: see the reply to this comment for reference.
Can you imagine being so paranoid that the mere fact someone else mentioned the Foro de São Paulo makes you lose your shit?
Don't worry, man. Uncle Sam is not coming knocking on your door to eat your babies or some stupid conspirational propaganda you've been fed. Most people just know Socialism wasn't nearly as good as it was promised to be and Capitalism -as flawed as it is - at least gives the opportunity (and incentives) for people to grow.
Grow, expand unequally, smother.
People are so eager to put labels on things and create strife.
Scandinavia and Western Europe must be full of socialist monsters, not because of actual socialism, but because some rich asshole was scared it would take away from his gross margins so he decided to smack a label on those bad bad people being so awfully nice to each other.
Scandinavian countries - which you say are full of socialists - have smaller states on the economic area than Brazil. A few years ago all of our systems belonged to the State. Energy, telecom, etc. And let's not even start talking about the gigantic case of corruption from the last governments (most of our politicians are corrupt, but few actually get punished because the law is written by mostly criminals and is full of escaping mechanisms).
But moving back to the scandinavians I recommend you actually read the works of Marx before you talk about what is and what isn't socialism, because Welfare State was exactly part of the Capitalism response to the advance of "communism outcry" as more people were influenced in wanting it. It's fine if one thinks it's ironic due to Capitalism's past (laissez-faire laissez passer), but I prefer the doctrine that shows this is more of a strenght from Capitalism to change and adapt and itself "grow, smother." :))
P.S.: of course there are several economical books of even better writers explaining Nordic countries are nothing socialist, but the ones I've read are in portuguese and I doubt they would serve you any good. In the worst case you can always google about it.
Let's see. You now that the welfare state policy was created to reduce the distortions of capitalism in western Europe countries reconstruction after WWII. We are talking here about this: the enormous DISTORTIONS of capitalism in countries that never were protected against this situation by such economical policies. Contrary to this, LA countries faces constant political and economic sabotage promoted by US government, as we can see NOW, in Wikileaks files and in the recently avaiable classified documents related to their role in the rise of the right-wing dictatorships in the region.
"Ironic" is how capitalism works in America: a lot of poor countries bein sucked to death to keep the American Dream alive. Don't tell me that US growth is sustainable, since it relays on the exploiting of people of Latin America and all over the world. It is crystal clear that regulation of capitalism URGES. It is the key to the reduction of poverty and to economical growth.
P.S.: of course, there are a lot of books you can find if you want to learn about reduction of capitalism distortions. Start reading John Maynard Keynes and you will figure out how wrong you have been for all this time.
If war was a "distortion of capitalism", USSR wouldn't have had problems with the wars it has been. Neither would any of the other socialist/communist countries. So the deep state of poverty was due to the whole 2nd WW, not capitalism per se. And what is up with all the hatred and prejudice against people from USA?
War created more misery, and that's the reason socialism doctrine got stronger, since it preyed on the people that were hurt the most ( Never heard about what Poland suffered? Or some of the several now foreign States that once were part of the USSR?).
And what are you talkig about Keynes? It's tripod of policies for the govt to spend were education, (un)employment and infrastructure. Aside from that it does not say the state or groups of individual should seize means of production. So his work is on point with what I previously said.
Yeah, Bolsonaro is awful. Also what's wrong with Socialism?
What's the problem with removing the rainforests?
Maybe killing all the rich flora and fauna there? Maybe eh
You will find out in a few decades and oh boy i am sure you wont enjoy it at all.
What will happen, exactly?
Nothing can live without forests, its not possible and Amazon is the biggest one that is being destroyed as we speak.
From what I've heard forests are useless. Actually we can't live without ocean algae and phytoplankton, which actually produce nearly all of the oxygen.
"From what I've heard forests are useless"
Is this a serious post?
Yes. I am interested in sensible counterarguments.
What sensible arguments you provided for the claim "forests are useless"?
Seriously? What you heard is wrong so i advise you to read a few studies about what will happen if forests dont exists.
Deforestation is the main source of huge amounts of CO2 which contributes to global warning. Also if all forests get destroyed it would be pretty much impossible for animals to survive. I think you know how it goes after. With the way people are handling the environment nothing will be the same in a 100 years from now.
Oooh, now we also have a global warming in the equation. ) I live long enough to remember the ozone layer hysteria, strange emotional people were, like: "ozone layer is thin, soon there will be a hole, stop producing the fridges (especially in China), we all gonna die, IT'S OBVIOUS". Where are all these people? The whole ozone hole thing turned out to be a hoax. I am patient, I'll wait till everyone will calm down on global warming, and then I'll remind them.
Romans had a saying: cui prodest? Who is interested in stopping of palm oil production? Who wants China to stop production of fridges? Somebody is always not interested in the prosperity of another. Yes, I agree, trees are nice and stuff, different animals and bugs live under trees and stuff, but no need to destroy all of the Amazonia. Create national parks and do what you need to do to earn money. And then, when you're rich and have more advanced technologies, you can switch to something "green".
"The whole ozone hole thing turned out to be a hoax"
Everywhere on the Internet, lol. Production of freon and aerosols grew, ozone hole disappeared. Where are you, ozone layer freaks, I don't hear you! ) 20 years ago you were so loud.
When somebody who looks like a scientist tells something it does not mean he's right, it's not how science works. Many things that were "facts" 10-20 years ago turned out to be BS.
China production is enormous and growing, and they did not sign it.
Trump left the Paris Agreement so the America's GDP is growing like crazy, Americans become rich and can spend their lives on studying "green studies", IDK how it's called, and influence other countries to become greener, and, thus, poorer )
The ozone hole did not disappeared, it is slowing recovering because of CFC production around the world has been banned.
China signed the Montreal protocol. There are still some CFCs being produced there, illegally. But is far from the levels of the 90s.
There is no hoax.
We're speaking here about badly researched problem, full of contradictions. They say freons responsible only for 20% of impact on ozone layer, how can this protocol be the cure? China does not stick to it, they don't care. They even pollute drinking water reserves. Air, ozone? Nah.
Green ideology is for rich (people/countries). Remember the Maslow pyramid: basic needs first, then everything else. First you should become rich. And what if so-called scientific consensus will change in the process? China is right.
We're speaking here about your absurd claims:
"forests are useless", "ozone hole disappeared", "ozone hole thing turned out to be a hoax".
I have my style of thesis articulation.
In case of Brazil, I'd say forests are bad for you. 2000 years ago entire Europe was covered with forests. Then forests were removed for agricultural means. Nearly all of them. Is Europe now a bad place to live? Remove the forests, dry the swamps, and seek for useful minerals.
Forests are not bad for Brazil.
Talking about Europe, 35% of the land area of Europe is covered with forest (42% in the EU), one of the most forest-rich regions in the world. Forest cover has increased over the last century.
I do not even understand how it is possible, they probably count as a square meter of forest every single standing tree. Europe as a region ends on Ural mountains, and Russia is way more forested than EU, just look at the satellite photos. Is it a new definition of Europe, new form of sanctions? Bald Moscow region, then to the east only forests. By looking at satellite photos I'd say 20% EU, 50% Europe. Bureaucrats know how to count, I know, I was one before, before I became enlightened. )
Yeah the whole ozone hole is hoax, i suppose the temperature that keeps increasing every year is also a hoax. Please open some book and dont just mention what you have heard.
Don't attribute to me what I did not say, it's a low dispute trick. Temperature goes up and down all the time, there where several "small ice ages" in written human history. We can research it on tree circles etc. No convincing evidences that humans significantly influence this temperature growth.
Oh boy... you have no idea what you are talking about. Stop embarrassing yourself.
Congrats to Federal Police.
Kkkkkkkk
Pontanto a ligação é clara.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke
"We must always fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil that we must fear the most, and that is the indifference of good men."
Boondock Saints :P
Ugh, sorry to hear about your country's troubles. It seems we live in the age of autocrats and wannabe tyrants, and it's really unfortunate. I wish you and your country luck!
Yeah, it's very annoying how politics these days shy away from the middle.
They move left from the left, right from the right, while the biggest group of voters is still somewhere in the middle, forced to pick a side based on just a few extreme issues.
Demonstrating why the 2nd Amendment is such a big deal in America.
Gun control could be a bit tighter, but the real issues are nurtured fear, medication induced paranoia, and inequality combined with never being quite satisfied with what you have.
Pretty stupid amendment these days, the way I see it. It will not help get in the way of something like this, but helps crazies have easy access to guns.
Yeah it gives the good people the illusion of safety, which is more important than the reality of safety.
You think those poor guys have enough weapons to fight the police and the army? Think again. Also they are trained.
I heard that there were something going on in Bolivia but we were in the middle of our own mess here in Argentina with our personnal shitty politicians coming back to power after they were supposedly gonne so I didn't pay much attention.
All I can really say is good luck, maybe one day southamerican democracies aren't going to be so fragile and curruptible but for now I guess we'll have to just deal with this and keep pushing to eventually get rid of the corrupt. I hope there'll be a day when populism is a thing of the past.
"I hope there'll be a day when populism is a thing of the past.". I long for this day, my friend.
Specially growing up in one of the poorest states in Brazil... I've seen way too many times how people fall for populistic speeches. And they all result in the people getting screwed up in the end.
Buena suerte en Argentina, hermano! Saludos desde Brasil
Most of my cyber and only friends are from Argentina so I used to be more informed about what happens there than on my own country but since this started I lost track of you guys. Seems South America is doomed.
Ah por qué se hablaban en inglés
Probably so the rest of us here don't think you guys are planning a Latino uprising or something ;)
Shhh, stay quiet and you'll get a comfy position in our future secret police ;)
Vale vale :)
Off-topic but I heard there is an interesting practice in Bolivian culture were you hang dead llama around for good luck or something, is that true?
We don't have llamas where I live but I wouldn't be surprised...
Bolivians have to stand up again. Simón Bolívar did it. Now you have to do it again. Liberate your country, free your people!
I feel with you and I hope for the best.
Historically, people like this often catch a bullet or two and then leave their office.
Just sayin ...
It is so, yes, but they screw up so many lives before that even happens, unfortunately.
reminds me of my Country's history
yeah, someone's been a president for 32 years
The whole world is going to shit.
Its almost as if humanity cant exist when they have to govern themselves because personal greed always comes first.
While my country is doing perfect comparably to yours, it still is one huge shit show with politicians being corrupt and using journalists for slander articles. At the start of election they promised to improve wages of doctors and teachers. Now they are saying they dont have budget for that, but at the same time are planning o increase their own budget for political parties from 600k to 4.5m euros. A god damn shitshow if you ask me.
There are also protests here in Iraq but for different reasons.
I'm not South American and I'm tired of reading lies and bullshit telling just a part of things to deceive others. In September 2017 it was the Supreme Tribunal of Justice to abolish term limits. In November the court ruled in favour of their abolition, citing the American Convention on Human Rights. It is not true that he didn't care and still ran for it. Your post is similar to those made by Brazilian fans of Bolsonaro, now they almost have a dictatorship, a country destroyed and ridiculous in the eyes of the world, with the worst politician of all time. Really also in Bolivia, as long as you don't have a president whose ideas you don't share, do you prefer an idiot who destroys everything he touches? The results and the protests started before the counting of the votes was completed and after that the vice president of Bolivia's electoral board also resigned in an anti-government move. And following excellent models, it is ironic, like Trump and Bolsonaro declared "Bolivia is first". The opposition has acted to cause delays in the completion of the count which are now used as an excuse to ask for a ballotage contrary to the law. Finally Bolivian Foreign Minister Diego Pary announced at a press conference that his country’s government had sent an official note to OAS inviting it to carry out an audit, to check the entire process of vote counting in the presidential election. Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro has accepted the Bolivian government’s invitation to carry out an audit of the recent presidential election in the country, amid controversies over the results. This seems to show that the Bolivian government is not trying to hide anything. But this is simply the truth, what is the truth in the face of bullshit force?
and keep on informing yourself before writing bullshit
now they almost have a dictatorship
now they almost have a dictatorship
feels much more like you don't know the basics... and you still build an idea without it.
It seems you don't know what are you are talking about at all. But I don't want to explain to you, who he really is, it is better let him explain himself, his ideas have not changed: Bolsonaro have always loved dictatorship
Source: New York Times interview to Bolsonaro
oh boy... another one that doesn't look for information, but validation. you must be under some damn good frustration seeying bolsonaro as leader of brazil without run a dictatorship... the world must be very confusing to you. I feel like you also need to explain to him who he really is. he may doesn't know yet.
I don't look for information is saying the one that is showing only his opinion made of bullshit. Please, show me the information you are talking about or continue to live in ignorance and denial of the reality without spreading your bullshit. Those are the words of your loved "I'd love to be dictator" president, they are not my words.
Some support to my humble opinion:
Wanna learn history to understand the context? That's good. Go ahead. Stop use google to validation, otherwise, you'll become the next antivax parent living in a delusion because someone else told some bullshit that you believed. The main media in brazil will sell "brazilian dictatorship" because they are free to do that or whatever else they decide to do (how ironical). I honestly do not care enough about your decisions, but, at least, choose to believe in something that fits to the reality.
I feel sorry for you, but I live in the real world and I rely on science. Antivax belongs to your cultural background, not mine: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/aug/23/autistic-anti-vaxxers-fear-neurodiversity-far-right
It is incredible how much ignorance there is among Bolsonaro fans and how many false news they have spread. Did you read that paper you sent me? Do you understand what is written there? It has nothing to do with the topic of discussion in itself, it is just off topic, it is a criticism of the approximations of some historiographical theories concerning the dictatorship, it does not concern the dictatorship itself. It is also clear in the title in Portuguese: Ditadura militar brasileira: aproximações teóricas e historiográficas.
It is about opinions on dictatorship. I don't care about opinions, I'm interested in facts. And the facts continue to confirm my affirmation on how much the dictatorship is loved by the Bolsonaro family members and by all the idiots who follow them:
you brought more validation bullshit right aftet have enough opportunity to get information (even when a new matter was brought to the conversation). you're more than a troll buddy, you're a lost cause. you refuse facts, refuse history, refuse context and refuse whatever you need to refuse to go where you want to go. you don't care about facts, you care about your opinion because you base them on yourself. that's why these media still exists, you consume whatever bullshit they bring to you without minimum facts/historical/whatever check. like I said before, the world must be a VERY confusing place to you.
edit: I also must say that I do not consume media to avoid such ignorance. I do check every souce of what I read. every single reference you brought, I saw the original, which makes me feel way more sad for you than before.
You are clearly a professional bullshitter, there is no fact in anything you say. No doubt you are also a functional illiterate, you think you can read but you don't understand what you read. You continue to repeat meaningless phrases concerning the search for validation, while you deserve a validated bullshitter seal. Here a source in Portuguese language, I don't think you have the tools to understand, but at least it will be clear once and for all that who is saying bullshit is you.
Created in 1997, the electronic magazine Consultor Jurídico (ConJur) is the most influential site about Justice and Law in Portuguese. The site was born to be a source of information about what happens in the courts, offices and daily life of the country under the lens of the judiciary.
Please return to your imaginary world where you are the repository of absolute truth. And bring with you all the bullshit and the Bolsonaro family you love so much, it's just a matter of time and they will all be in prison, because they are criminals, and the real truth will not remain under your bullshit forever.
Here a video with available English subtitles to show who we are talking about: Bolsonaro
And to make you happy here a famous journalist that I am sure you hate: New Evidence Ties Bolsonaro Family to Murder of Marielle Franco
Let me point out how dumb you are being: visit the republic constitution and read the article 53 which ai'll copy and paste here: Art. 53. Any congress member has imunity on their votes, words and opinions. This extends to the president when he was one. This grants freedom enough to represent any thoughts or ideas, even comunism bullshit. Also, you will never be able to understand the context because you refused to read when I brought one, so I'll not be the one who will tell you to livr the cotton candy world.
Also, you should read read this, because, again, you are looking for validation, not information.
Just a little advice, don't go full retard relying on something you clearly don't know (given the circunstances I would say you "can't" know). The bullshit you rely on is so easy to refute with information or further news, that you are a shame for any average misinformed brazilian when compared to one. As I said before, you're a lost cause and from now on you'll be treated like one.
Don't you feel ashamed to show the whole world how ignorant you are? When I quote a serious source it is validation, when you mention a partial and false news, that less than 24 hours later it is already denied, you call it information. Here is who generated the false news you mentioned: https://theintercept.com/2019/10/31/promotora-caso-marielle-bolsonaro-afastada/
You have once again demonstrated that you don't know to read because in the document published on ConJur it was clearly explained in the part "base aliada": atentar contra a democracia é crime, como prescreve o artigo 5º da Constituição Federal [attacking democracy is a crime, as required by article 5 of the Federal Constitution].
XLIV - constitui crime inafiançável e imprescritível a ação de grupos armados, civis ou militares, contra a ordem constitucional e o Estado Democrático;
But I'm not surprised if you had half a neuron you wouldn't be defending Bolsonaro. I hope for your sake that you can cleanse yourself from brainwashing, that I don't know if they did it to you or you did it yourself. Perhaps you are part of the Bolsonarist militias paid to spread online bullshit. I don't know and I don't want to know. But I guarantee you that as long as you keep saying bullshit I'll show you every time what you say is nothing but bullshit.
I now understand why they call people like you "gado" (cattle) in Brazil, for the amount of bullshit you produce.
the intercept. LULZ. you can't even read what you brought. read what you brought from the constitutio how many times is needed to see the size of the bullshit you brought thinking that is related in any way with anything we (yes, you and me) said before.
You are obscenely ridiculous.
The facts that derive from that news that I showed you:
About the constitution it is written there clearly why it is related, but you will never understand, never.
You mentioned a constitutional amendment on the freedom of expression of parliamentarians, but that cannot go against the constitutional principle that prohibits attacking the democratic state. You don't understand the basics of the basics.
Go back to reading facebook and whatsapp or some mysterious peacock. Don't talk about things that are too much above your brain function and please re-read everything, every word you wrote is embarrassing for yourself.
You brought the prosecutor has to be removed from the case, then you brought she left by her own decision (probably because these retarted threatened her like the intercept wrote they will). You probably don't even know there's no obstacle to work in the case due political/electoral/whatever-comes-from-your-cotton-candy-world, but still, this makes sense in your cotton candy world. You don't even read whatever you bring for validation anymore. You just bring whatever these people write... Things that aren't even related or legally coherent. You're the copy and paste troll. Dude, you're pathetic.
If you think that continuing to distort the reality to support your interest in supporting a gang of criminals can work, you're wrong and a lot. She has moved away because she is guilty and much more will come out. I understand that you like to live in the world of "mamadeiras de piroca", but there you must remain silent with your peers and stop spreading bullshit. Bolsonaro and all his followers will be remembered forever as the worst excrements generated by human stupidity. At least you won't suffer loneliness in your shitty world. I prefer a world without lies where all honest citizens are respected. You are not honest, you don't deserve respect.
Your insults are compliments to me. I am not a far-right misfit looking for the stupid man from whom to be submissive, that is a problem of the Bolsonaristas. I laugh at you, but I get angry for the poor world that suffers because of your malice and stupidity.
Yeah right and you far right.
Pathetic as much as before, maybe a bit more, which explains you a lot.
If Bolsonaro Is one of the most stupid people in the world what can you expect from those who follow him? But the worst is that he is also the instigator of murders and although you are stupid, I hope you are not on the side of the murderers, I hope so.
The criminal president of Brazil illegally removed a decisive evidence, in a process in which he is the most likely instigator who ordered the murder of Marielle Franco.
what the fuck are you talking about? you living the bullshit you read that is contradictory by themselves claiming dictatorship with freedom, democracy and trias power. snap out of the cotton candy world. you clearly didn't accept you lose elections by the majority because you and your crew insist to live in the cotton candy world jumping on whatever bandwagon you brought. These people are profitting because of you, because you consume their bullshit when facts and data says otherwise. I hope you're profitting on this too because no one can be this dumb for free. dude, you're pathetic. grow up.
You use your head clearly just to waste shampoo. You're insignificant to me, you haven't figured out yet that you're like a toy, a rubber ball I throw against the wall, slams and comes back into my hands, I can continue as long as I want. I suggest to you and no matter how much you believe it or not, I do it only for your own good, to keep quiet and stop writing more. Because it is one thing to defend the brotherhood of stupidity of which you are the honorable grand master, another thing is to publicly defend organized crime. And if you haven't noticed you are doing this in a public forum before the eyes of the world. Please leave us in doubt that you are not a criminal and you are just a mindless puppet.
The referendum was to decide if people wanted him to run again for president, he promised to respect the results. We voted. We said NO and he worked his way around to still run. Is that caring for that people want? Is that your definition of caring?
The counting was not stopped by the opposition, it was stopped by the TSE which is by no means an imparcial party anymore. They did this with no explanation to manipulate data, evidence has been presented if you want to look that up. Before they stopped counting Evo didn't have enough to win first round so no opposition was protesting. There were some disputes because they found unofficial cars carrying away the votes but that was not the reason they stopped it.
Our president is also a criminal, he himself ordered publicly to block the cities that are protesting peacefully in order for us to not be able to get food and supplies, that is unconstitutional. The president himself wants to starve us.
He sent his people with dynamite and sticks against unarmed people exercising their right to protest for democracy. Do you think that is the kind of person who should run a country?
The fact that you are born or live in Bolivia does not mean that you know something about that country, please study a little. I am not a Morales fan, but he is surely better of any candidate you are rooting for. Before Morales first election, Bolivia was South America's poorest nation. Fact with source, not bullshit
What has he exactly done against Bolivian people in all these years?
Bolivia's illiteracy rate was at 16%, the highest in South America. By 2009, UNESCO declared Bolivia free from illiteracy.
Morales' government sought to encourage a model of development based upon the premise of vivir bien, or "living well". This entailed seeking social harmony, consensus, the elimination of discrimination, and wealth redistribution.
Morales announced that one of the top priorities of his government was to eliminate racism against the country's indigenous population.
Morales' government also introduced measures to tackle Bolivia's endemic corruption; in 2007, he used a presidential decree to create the Ministry of Institutional Transparency and Fight Against Corruption.
We've grown, that's a fact. Does it gives him the right to stay in the power against the will of the people?
Yeah he talks against racism but he's always attacking my city. We are not the only ones on a civic strike but the only ones he has called out on media.
And that ministry, as well as every state institution, are run by who? He's people. Of course they will cover up all his shit, as well as they manipulated the votes, that is also an institution that works for the government, not for people anymore, it is not imparcial.
By the way, your answer has nothing to do with mine, I mentioned he say he will respect the referendum regarding his reelection answering your claim that he has the right to run for president. Where's an argument against that?
I asked you if you think that a person who prevent the people to get food and supplies is the kind a person who should run the country.
You're jus talking random stuff. I live here, I've seen and listened to him for years, I've heard people want him out, we voted years ago and we won but they don't give a fuck about democracy, I've lived all that. You just read fucking Wikipedia.
I do not agree with what he did about the referendum, but it is not accurate to say that he had promised to respect it. He did a bad thing that many politicians do, he made contradictory statements. However, I am sure that all the other candidates also make contradictory statements. Before the referendum he declared that he did not care about the result, then that he would respect it and then that he would continue the fight for the new mandate. We have 2 statements against the referendum and one in favor, obviously you choose the one that makes you more comfortable. I don't like any of them. The mandate limit is a stupid thing that does not guarantee "democracy", it is enough to see to better understand the world political families, the names change but the power is always divided among them.
Thank you for the informated post, I really hate this threads too. As much as I love politics it doesnt even belong here in a forum about steam games, especially if it spreads disinformation.
Thanks for the Bolsonaro bit haha. Funny how he's leaving his party to create another one called "Alliance" of something, so I guess I'm officially FOR THE HORDE in real life...
That's so sad(
striked out Bolivia from the list of countries to immigrate to.
Well... you kinda have two options here. Live with the guy you don't like, or start a revolution and make things much worse.
You can go home or turn Bolivia into another Libya or Syria or Venezuela or whatnot. Your choice.
im from poland so i know your pain
we have some morons running country as we speak
they say who is patriot and who isnt, they steal and lie, and they protect pedophiles in church
also pedophile catholic church supports the government, no brainer right ?
same happens here in Italy, we also have the Vatican and the pope literally at 1km of distance from the government seats so they have a huge influence and they cover and finance each other.. I know the Polish situation too, I've been lots of times in the south-eastern regions (especially zamosc and lublin) =\ it really sucks
Probably you're watching wrong youtubers that exaggerate things, because things are pretty fine in Poland.
See that? Because ruski trol always knows better!
Except, that those who ruled before them, and now are the opposition, are so full of themselves, that they openly say, that anyone of different opinion and not willing to vote for them is, as you have kindly said, a moron :(
Because, yes, since the current governing party came to power for the first tine (just for 2 years) 14 years ago, not only their politician, but also all people supporting/voting for it suddenly became morons in the narrative of previously created "moral authorities".
And then they are surprised, that so many people do not want to vote for them, lol.
