The filters I use are freebies and hide expired. It's not limited to free weekends, but they are usually included.

The first time I've heard that DLC can be added without owning the base game.

Free weekends grant you a temporary license to the title being promoted. That is likely why you were able to buy DLC. This is not a free weekend promotion, so you can't own the base game without buying it (or subscribing to EA Play).

At the moment, that list incorrectly shows Crusader Kings III lasting two more days when it's already over, and it doesn't list the new Dead Space promotion.

I seen gx.games on opera gx
last time i used steamdb search and set the deal to 100% or above 95% don't remember.
other then occasionally seen it announced from steam I do not know how to keep track of it.

do you know anywhere to see what was games listed as the weekend try?
also seen steam allowing 90min trials to games. less then the 2h refound time. idk if that counts to that. tho.
