Made another Poll with Kaspersky and other antiviruses that I forgot.

+1 - However, Kaspersky isn't just anti-virus, but also anti-script + application control + registry control + firewall. It's the application control which makes it truely the best! Simple anti-virus definitions can get bypassed.

I Wundt suggest to use a thing made by a former KGB agent wich is much loyal to another KGB agent who managed to take the whole Russia under full total control xD

McAfee is, truly, awful. Uninstall it immediately and get Microsoft Security Essentials instead. It's free, and it's all you'll ever need unless you willingly download all kinds of viruses and malware.

McAfee is quite bloatware, however I would still pick it over Microsoft Security Essentials - hackers and malware applications love to bypass that Microsoft crap, the firewall does nothing.

scanning isn't enough, if you got infected by a serious virus your system is propably fucked up already ... use real time protection always

i never tried f-secure, only AVG, NOD32, Avira, MSE and avast. As for me avast is the clear winner. AVG is garbage ...

So F-secure is better?

The gui use to be good but they keep changing it up and making it harder, ie burring the tabs, to customize firewall settings and rules. Thats really my only gripe about Kaspersky.

MS essentials was actually ranked pretty high even compared to paid versions. Its not an active AV though, so theres that.

for now. It's probably better to be cautious and take measures to prevent problems before they happen.

You may have a virus and don't even know cause you don't have an AV.

Your probably got a RAT or Stealth Trojan - easily picked up via driveby website injection. Viruses these days don't do damage but hide from the user and let a server dump or hacker snoop or even control it. Windows 8 Firewall is quite easy to bypass.

Kaspersky often is free after rebate. Depending on the deal you can actually be paid to buy kaspersky and other things with such rebate offers. IE, my bank use to give 1% back on purchases from newegg.
