I had this puzzle in mind for a while but, being my first, i'm not sure if it's too easy or too hard. Anyways, I have a couple of hints if you need them.

| ENDED | SOLUTION HERE! |

Now, here we have a flat knitting chart for a 1x1 ribbing, but it's a mess! There are a lot of mistakes.

No :(

Ok, I know I said I would have posted the first hint on Monday but I want to see you solve this at least as much as you want to solve it so:

First hint:

There is no need to know anything about knitting. It can help, but it would still be solvable removing any reference to knitting.
The written part about knitting is just a big hint, so read it carefully and google the stuff you don't know if you need it

Second hint:

If you are almost there but the results make no sense, do not despair! Pay attention to all the elements of the chart and remember, it's a flat knitting chart

Solution

ps: can someone please tell me how to do the hidden spoiler text thing?

So... for the first hint, does anyone need help with anything in particular or do i proceed with the big hint i prepared? the first one who answers this comment decides

A big hint? I though you said 'be gentle'... So start small.

right. do you have any question? because the small hint is really small

No questions yet. I just started. But if there's a week to go, and you only have two hints, then I'd prefer if you wait before releasing the small hint. Use the big hint if there are too few entries when the end is nearing. That just my opinion, though.

Thanks for the puzzle, by the way. I like it.

I have no idea how to solve this, seems like we need to know basic knitting at least.

(Tactical dot) also if it's 1x1 shouldn't the number of rows and columns be equal?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

the 1x1 it's not about the chart, it's about the pattern of the stitches. The chart could be of any dimension

Bump for forcing mother in law that's visiting to knit this, and still having no clue what to do after seeing the end result. :P

Oh no! As i already said there is no need to knit it, but maybe she can help you finding... well, i can't really say what or it would be too easy.

Figured it was worth a try to see if it gave me any clue on what to do with it. :)

Just read carefully the chart and the text (or make your mother in law read it 😂), there are all the clues you need

She started babbling on about the symbols can mean different things so without a chart on the side it's hard to know what each thing is. Since she doesn't understand puzzles, too hard to get help from her. :P
