I haven't bought a humble bundle since IGN changed the way it used to work. I even lost the need or will, to visit their site, since.
Don't know, I used to be addicted to Humble, until a few years ago. Just realized now, that I don't even visit them at all. Haven't spent money for over year, on Humble. Their model is just not interring any more. I used to like the early release and then wonder. hope and gamble on what's coming.

I used to follow how many bundles they sold, now I don't even know....even don't care what is sold. Don't even visit the site for months.
Any of you that feel the same???

Is it still the same to you?

Yes!!!!!
No!!!!
Not sure what you mean!!!!

i'll keep saying it till it happens:
hopefully those sites stop releasing bundles and start selling games at full price or with minimal discounts, so people can learn to appreciate and value them again. it would also get rid of all the asset flip and minimal-effort trash that floods steam.

That sounds like an awful thing for consumers to hope for.

not really.
no one needs 20k games in their account. slow down consumerism and increase product quality all at once.

we cant really achieve that. the consumer spectrum is too wide and not everyone thinks like you. there are plenty of folks who are happy to spent a lot of money for crap that has zero value. like these fifa coins or skins and emotes.

I totally agree that no one needs 20k games in their account, but I disagree that sales on games somehow lead to diminished quality.

People have a threshold for how much they're willing to spend on a game. Some will buy a game at $60, some at $45, some at $30, $20, $10, $5, etc. By lowering the price, you tap into each subsequent market. You may make a mistake by lowering the price too soon, thus discounting the game before exploiting the bulk of the higher priced market, but generally each discount results in a new burst of sales whereas keeping the game at the higher price just causes sales to diminish to almost nothing. Even Nintendo, the king of avoiding sales and keeping prices high, has found it worthwhile to discount their games to $20 as Nintendo Selects re-releases.

People can much more easily justify numerous small purchases than individual large purchases. People will balk at spending $700+ on a video card (as well they should), but won't think twice about spending $5 a day on Starbucks - not realizing that the latter equates to $1,825 a year, and that if they cut out their Starbucks habit and made coffee themselves they'd be able to buy the top-end video card of each GPU generation and still have money left over. Similarly keeping prices high results in less money spent on games overall, since people will balk at buying a $60 game, but are much more willing to buy a $12 bundle of games every month.

A bigger issue is the relentless pace at which new video games are cranked out. If studios and publishers treated making video games less as a means towards making money, and respected their employees more by setting realistic expectations and eliminating crunch, I think we'd see a marked increase in quality. We might have fewer games released each year - which I don't even see as a downside - but each game would be better and the people making those games would be happier and healthier.

I'm a huge fan of the new system. While others may enjoy gambling, I do not, and I will always take knowing exactly what games are in a bundle before buying it over buying a bundle with minimal information and hoping for the best.

As far as the quality of the bundles, I don't see a noticeable difference. Some bundles are great, some are disappointing - just as it was before - and which ones are great and which are disappointing is up for debate.

Personally, I've seen a ton of great games in the Humble Choice bundles, and a lot of great bundles. January's bundle had 4 games off my wishlist. The latest bundle has Yakuza Kiwami 2, Darksiders III, Crying Suns, Little Misfortune, and Tsioque, plus another 7 games that other people may be interested in.

As others have said, the thrill of discovery is still there, it's just at the beginning of the month instead of at the end. And by discovering all the games at once, you can accurately decide if the bundle is worth it for you without having to gamble on it.

I fully agree with you. I also have this mindset, I prefer to know what games I'm getting instead of gambling in a 3 game early reveal.

i remember making a thread saying that humble bundle will get worse because IGN fucks up everything. i kind of hate the creators of humble bundle for selling to ign. they kind of betrayed themselves. they wanted to give to charity and to gamers by making great deals for us. Then IGN smelled the money and gave a big unhumbled bundle of money to them and they sold out.

Well, nothing lasts forever. everything turns to shit at then end. thats how things are. its like eating a delicious pie. at the end it turns to shit after taking all the nutrients out of it. But maybe something beautiful will grow out of the pile of dung. like a flower. idk. xD
