Avoid painkillers as much as possible. Studies have shown that using painkillers actually can cause more headaches in the long run and they only mask the pain instead of dealing with the root cause. Use them as a last resort, not a first resort. Just doing that cut down the number of migraines I get by a good amount. Plus a lot of natural remedies cost less as wel.

Outside of that, it actually depends on the kind of headaches. What works for some migraines won't work for others and what works for migraines may not work for other headache types, so you may have to try a few things out before hitting on something that works. For me I like to take a warm shower and have the water spray where the pain is centered. I also keep around some garlic pills and take about 10 of them when I have a migraine (I find the best are the non-odor free gelcap type). I find making sure to take a B complex also can help as well. B Complex vitamins are water soluble, so you can take 2-4 without negative effects, your body will get rid of any excess but some migraine types are caused by a deficiency in B vitamins and taking some excess will ensure your body has what it needs to fix the problem. Garlic also has a lot of B vitamins in it as well and other stuff that helps blood circulation. I also find Icy Hot applied to where the pain is centered can help as can a good night's sleep.

If nothing else will work, try eating a raw clove of garlic. I know that sounds really gross so I keep it as a last ditch resort. It has to be raw and the fresher, the better. I swallow it like a pill basically, try to avoid chewing and use some water to help wash it down. If you absolutely cannot do that, it can be cut into smaller pieces, but it will leave a gross aftertaste that is difficult to get rid of. That usually will get rid of it in about a half an hour, but the aftertaste is ugh.

You do know that headache and migraine are different things, right? And that painkillers contain the same stuff as "natural remedies" with added bonus of not feeling like an ass when you take them?

Also I'm pretty sure that the active compount in garlic is alicine and not aliine. So that for it to work you have to crush it or cut it. Not eating it raw.

Also I've been reading articles that claim that taking vitamin suplements (Specially the B type) might be related to the cause of migraine. Moreover taking multivitamins and other stuff is AT ITS BEST a waste of money.

Also I haven't been able to find anything linking Allium sativum to headaches. So if you have papers within reach do point me to them.

Also what Jengothanda said.

When i was younger i tended to have a lot of headaches for some reason.Never took a painkiller cause its for pussies, so i was trying to get over the headaches with my thoughts. Yes, yes indeed. Whenever i managed to take my thoughts away from the headache it would pass after a while.

Try to think something else, imagine dragons and shit dunno...plus stay hydrated and dont do things that makes your blood flow increase cause you will be able to feel your blood knocking your head like bells from the Vatican.

Some headaches are caused by dehydration. If you don't drink a lot of water, start drinking a lot more and see if you get them any less frequently.

Get someone to punch you as hard as they can in the stomach or something, if done right it will hurt so much you won`t think of the headache for a while. Let me know how it turns out.

Something similar to this does work, at least for some headaches. Physical trauma causes a release of endorphin. It's why some people cut themselves, and why some people beat their heads against a wall in frustration when the headache is bad enough, only to discover that it gave them a few seconds of pain relief. See what happens when you strike the side of your head at forehead-height above the corner of your jaw. Your headache will disappear for a short time. Strike a little softer than you would when you knock on a door.

I am not recommending this as a treatment for headaches.

The way I see it, you have 3 main choices:
Sleep,
Water,
or drill hole in forehead to let demons out.

Demons aren't so bad, so long as you keep their heads bopping.

Surely it has to Rob Zombie for that?

I think it's awesome that my comment from six months ago on that Cyanotic video is still the most recent one.

Electric head, all in your head, all in your head, all in YOWWWWW

White Zombie's bassist Sean Yseult ran a bar in Louisiana until recently, and I find that totally awesome. I considered saying hello when I left the Army, but instead went straight home to the grandparents. I would probably have scared her anyway.

I'm adding you on Steam, SeanBahamut. This is getting off-topic.

Hydrate, exercise, go to sleep on time, learn to handle stress, broaden your diet(eat fruit and vegetables) and take breaks from your PC.

Visit doctor. Head has lots of stuff inside, so there may be lots of reasons why you get headaches. It may be not enough water, stress, not enough sleep, you may be very sensitive to wind and cold and lots, lots of different stuff.

Excedrin pretty much always works for me, though I do try to limit how often I use it. If I can just sleep off the headache or something, I'll do that instead.

With your thumb and index finger of one hand, do a massage between the thumb and index finger of the other hand, right there where it hurts when you do it. It helps for a short time.
