I want the DLC first, but the way their bundles are, if you already own the base game, it's 18 or 27 euro. :p

I contacted them on twitter if they might wanna do something about it or not.

Checks achievements page for the game.... Yep... I don't have 100% anymore and now it's locked behind a paywall...

Tbh it's a nice paywall. The DLC looks fantastic. But yeah I hate devs who do that.
Especially since DLC rarely go low on sales.
They might as well have released it as a sequel at this price.

Can't agree with that since it's only 8 euros/dollars. Also there isn't nearly enough content for it to be called a sequel, only 6 fully fledged bosses plus some additional content, which is totally ok for the price.

You're right ofc. I meant they should have made it bigger and a new game.
As it is, it's not enough for a game but it's alright for a DLC, and as I was telling Zlia while it locks some achievements behind a "paywall", it's well worth it.
I don't really like DLC achievements as a general rule although I'm not obsessive about 100%ing games. But at least this is a playable DLC which adds to the game, even though 5 years later, and not just some random money grab or cosmetics DLC with cheevos.

Since you have all achievements in the base game you probably like it very much and will buy DLC eventually, so I don't see much of a problem with it. Other games do it too, Outer Wilds and Supraland come to mind.

Would you prefer DLCs to have no achievements? This seems like a pointless complaint...

I can see his point. There's a big group of achievement completionists that don't feel that having achievements associated with DLCs is the best practice for a company. Think of it as an OCD type of issue, where someone spends time to get that 100%, and then the lose it when a DLC comes out. Or, they want it, but can't do 100% for a game, because the cost of achievements is now tied to a DLC they'd rather not pay for. In the end, it screws with the mind. I can completely relate. Is it a bad practice to put achievements in DLCs? I guess that comes down to how the majority feels about that in the end.

I'd say people that actually enjoy doing achievements (and are not there just to see a bunch of 100%) want DLC's to have achievements, because completing the achievements is a big part of what they enjoy when playing a game, so a DLC without achievements feels lacking.

Exactly, I like achievements as an additional layer of challenge in games I enjoy. Which means I'd probably get the DLC and be happy for the additional things to do. But getting achievements for the sake of that, in games you don't even like? Sounds crazy to me...

That makes sense too! If you love achievements and the game is a big part of them, and then the DLC doesn't have any, it would feel like half the game is missing. Know what game made achievements big? Ratchet and Clank on the PlayStation. It was well before anyone had achievements as a system outside of gaming. I loved hunting down the little achievement extras in those games, it was half of what made the game fun!!

Or have that OCD and it's annoying hard (next to impossible) to get such achievement, and i imagine Cuphead to be such game.

OMG I feel ya, I hate when I have most of the achivements, except for one or two, and those are extremely hard to accomplish, drives me crazy. Devil Daggers only has 1 achievement, just one! - last 500 seconds, and I still have yet to get there XD

Guessing your point was to Zlia as you wrote to me and didn't reply to him/her directly. I am not complaining about it having DLC, just bringng the news.

I wish they put in as much effort as they did in that feature video for the story parts of the main Cuphead. The game is great, but it was so disappointing to see that a game with hand-drawn cartoon art for the levels didn't have its own cartoon story bits. Bit off topic, but your post brought me right back to that thought of the base game. XD

I hadn't played Cuphead in more than a year (so I was super rusty) and finished all bosses in about 90 minutes. Going for S ranks though, should take about 4 or 5 hours, I think. Plus, you can use the new character in every boss of the original game, though I don't think she is different enough to justify that. But some might disagree.
