You may enjoy Okami. Great fucking game, piece of art. The soundtrack alone is very good.

General consensus is that it is one of the best games on PS2, but still it wasn't that great of a success by the sale numbers.
It's made by the guys who made God Hand, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns, Metal Gear Rising, Viewtiful Joe.
That feel when I have 5 sealed copies on my shelf.

The God of War games, the DBZ Budokai games, the Metal Slug games, GTA games, and the ones you mentioned as well

idk what to do in god or war in certain so that series been a big turn off got me. DBZ fun as hell but not really in the mood for fighting game, in need of something with more RPG feel. GTA loves the series but haven't really play the recent ones. Thanks for the suggestions

RPG huh, well the developer Level 5, the guys that made Ni No Kuni for the ps3 made a ton of great ps2 RPG games as well. There is Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King, Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 (or Dark Chronicle depending on your region).

I haven't listed every great title, but with a library of thousands, there is too much to pick from.

No problem. Hope you can enjoy the various titles I listed.

MONSTER!
You obviously don't know the greatness of the PS2 library to say such things. All of those are impressive titles, with a mix of well known and obscure titles.
Comment has been collapsed.
haha, don't be hating, i haven't played most of those games, but i did see a few in the past and they never caught my attention. I was mostly leaning towards the most common games for the ps2, final fantasy, gran turismo, MGS and god of war.
Comment has been collapsed.
You should have at least known the Ratchet & Clank games, Devil May Cry and a few others there. D:
And my own PS2 library is rather impressive, numbering in the hundreds. I consider this a small list. :P

A shame you dislike the R&C games. The original was the game that convinced me to stop replaying Sonic 3 & Knuckles and the rest of my Mega Drive library, and get a PS2. More than 10 years later, I still have that game.

I'm not as much of a fan of SotC, and while I've owned the International version of Final Fantasy X, I no longer own it so forgot to include it in my list.

My pile can reach the roof and still have games :P
And unfortunately no up to date photos, and my camera isn't working. Don't have access to another to take photos.

I've been looking for that and the other PS2 game in the series. No luck in locating either. I do have Disaster: Day of Crisis on Wii though.

I enjoyed the first Kingdom Hearts, but wasn't a fan of the second and my region locked RE:COM, so I left it out.
As for Persona, I lack the third game, and while I own the fourth in the series, I'm honestly not enjoying the story. I want tom just take on some dungeons when I try to play it, so I prefer the other titles which allow you to ignore story much of the time. The Persona games on PS2 are mostly story, with dungeons being a smaller part of the gameplay.

I agree that the 2nd KH differed a bit, too much button mashing
I understand that the persona games are quite heavy on the story/character development side, but I absolutely love this as I play for the story. I agree that it isn't so great for dungeon crawling, but what I found was that I was too much into the characters to really care. But yeah, I see what you mean

Nice you understand at least. Other people call me a heathen. :P

Shadow of the Colossus, not really comparable to any other PS2 game, but you should give it a try if you can get it somewhere. Also Ico, didn't play it but seems to be awesome. if you own a PS3 you should get the HD-Remake Double Pack, it's even cheaper than the the original games.

aaah my friend introduced me to SotC on my birthday 2 years ago. Totally went psyched to see that you battle something that big. Good memories. I suggest that you get it for your friend, would be memorable that both of you have that first experience together.

If someone likes JRPG-s/tactial RPG-s (and has a lots of free time):
Digital Devil Saga 1-2

Persona 3-4
Xenosaga 1-3
Shadow Hearts 1-3
Final Fantasy series
Wild Arms 3-5
Suikoden 3-5
Disgaea 1-2
La Pucelle
Phantom Brave
Rogue Galaxy
Tales series
Ar Tonelico 1-2
Atelier Iris 1-3
Mana Khemia
.dot HACK series
Dragon Quest VIII
and so on

Nice Selections, brings back memories of seeing a lot of these games on selves and never being able to buy them. Might try suikoden actually, was a big fan of 1 and 2. I looked a few of these already looks like games I would play now. I've just finished a few test and mid year breaking up very soon. THANKS!

But my suggestions are
Devil May Cry 1 & 3
.hack://Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine - If you stand the combat you'll find yourself a great series of games. Ignore anything else .hack// related like .hack//G.U. It's pure condensed shit
God Hand
DragonBall Z: Budokai 3 - I don't care what anyone says this one of the most funnest fighting games I've played and I dislike DBZ.
Comment has been collapsed.
Kingdom Hearts dialogue isn't it's strongest point, it's more just the fact that you can visit all those Disney worlds + Final Fantasy cameos. I enjoyed them though, soundtrack was good, loved Gummi Ships (especially in KH2).
As for other PS2 games...
Gran Turismo 4
Ratchet & Clank series
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series
I didn't own many PS2 games, they were pretty expensive back then for me.

Want an RPG that was sadly overlooked, and is an amazing piece of gaming? Rogue Galaxy. My highest reccomendation for all the PS2 era RPG's, amazing cel art look. The studio that made it, Level 5, is also known for making Dark Cloud series on ps2, as well as the more recent White Knight Chronicles games and the critically lauded Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
edit: see a lot of others mentioned this just before me, glad to see not everyone overlooked it. The game is incredible, and really must be played.

I honestly found their games too grindy. Be it Dark Cloud / Dark Chronicle, Rogue Galaxy or Dragon Quest VIII. Only so much I could take.
Comment has been collapsed.
know anything you can play with a good story and not much grinding then? looking for a game to spend my spare time but I'm the type of the guy who give up if I need to grind too much. like Dragon Quest joker for example, the grind in that is exponential, taking forever at the start of the game and very little in the end.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not certain how fast the grinding is in the other Wild Arms games on PS2, but Wild Arms 4 had leveling happen fast enough, you could use levels as currency in a black market. It also had a feature to disable random encounters in many locations if you didn't want to fight at the time. Might be worth looking into the series.

I only played the demo sadly, but it was really cool, one day when I'm less broke I need to buy all the ps2 games I always wanted but didn't get a chance to buy xD

PS2 games I had most fun with:
Gran Turismo 3, 4
Ratchet & Clank 2
Jak & Daxter
Tekken Tag Tournament
Soul Calibur 3
Dynasty Warriors 5
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Beyond Good & Evil
Pro Evolution Soccer
Dead or Alive 2
Some good games from PS2 era I played on different platforms, but they were released on PS2 too:
Guilty Gear XX series
Metal Slug series
Resident Evil 4
Persona 3
Katamari series
And I still have many games I bought but didn't finish yet, like Devil May Cry series, Kingdom Hearts or Marvel vs Capcom 2. PS2 had maaaany great games, and it lived, in my opinion, during greatest era for video games. Era, where games weren't so expensive to make and developers experimented with them much more than nowadays, making enormous variety of games.

A fellow PAL gamer, correct? Guilty Gear XX #Reload was unreleased for PS2 in the US. However, I've already mentioned Accent Core Plus, the most up to date version for content.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, actually I played GGXX on PC, #Reload was the only one released on PC. But yeah, I should mention that Accent Core Plus is better.
I would have that damn awesome Limited Edition of it if the shipping wasn't as expensive as the game. Damn you, Zen United/whoever was selling that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I still want AC+ myself. Can't find anything newer than #Reload and Isuka on PS2, and while I have the basic Accent Core on Wii, I lack the controllers to make the most of it there.

PSP has the previous game, Persona 3. There are differences from Persona 3 FES on PS2, and 4 follows a different set of characters.
I really need to find P3 some day. I have 2 and 4.
Comment has been collapsed.
I personally liked 3 better, as it had a better overall soundtrack, story, and I enjoyed the desperate atmosphere it brought. It played on the dark side of human emotion, which always brings interesting conflicts. Also I preferred climbing tartarus compared to the various dungeons of 4. I love both, but 3 stuck with me more

Crash Bandicoot!
I hope I don't need to explain why :D
Still wondering how could it be people didn't mention it here...
Also, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon was awesome! At the beginning, I didn't like this new idea for Spyro games, although this one is really good and I enjoyed it very much. A lot of fun, especially while playing coop mode (I ended the whole game with my sister). I also loved upgrading system. It was so fun when me and my sister were choosing and giving advices to each other what skill should we upgrade etc. :D The only sad part is that the game is rather short:( Can't recall other great games for now if but I did, I'd come back here for sure.

SSX On Tour is one of my favorite games of all time :D

Disgaia 2 and Makai Kingdom, Suikoden 5 (and 4 to a lesser degree), Mana Khemia : Alchemist of Al Revis and too many to count.

I want to go back to the old PS2 day, where I can spend countless hours enjoying the story of the game.Any suggestions guy/gals?
I was into games like:
-FFX
-FFx2
-Jak and Daxter series
-Ratchet and clanks series
-Kingdom Hearts (looking back now the dialogue don't quite hold up as I thought when I first played it in Primary school)
Any games you guys/gals think most people would have missed, post them below and any games you really enjoyed as well and the reason why.
