Thanks for that link. That site tells me I should be able to run the game. It looks like for the CPU it just checked the speed (GHz), and on the video card it checked RAM, pixel shader, and vertex shader. Are the results from this site generally reliable?

OK, thanks for confirming. I hadn't heard of it before, and it looked like it wasn't necessarily checking the exact same things (e.g., model number of the graphics card). I guess as long as it tests the actual features required, it should be fine. Thanks again. I've bookmarked this site for future reference.

I think it should work ... atleast on low settings though

Thanks all. I did get the game, and it does look like it will run. I was able to start it up and get to the title screen, so I should be OK. It's a little laggy there though, the mouse is slow to react, but it is functioning. I don't have time to play now, but maybe if I close more programs to free up more memory it will work a bit better. One little disappointment though -- I couldn't get Dronak as a nickname at the Rockstar Social Club. Oh well.

Maybe that's it, I don't know. If I do have vertical sync on, will it cause mouse lag during the game in general? Because it doesn't lag when I go into the options menu, just on that title screen (so far, that's about all I've looked at). If it is going to affect game play, I should try changing it. However, I can't seem to find that setting in the game. Can you tell me where the vertical sync option is? Thanks!

Hmm, I've never played L.A. Noire myself, so I don't know if they have the option of toggling vertical sync... I'd say just try playing the game and see if it lags, or if its just the mouse on the menu. If it lags I'm sure you can just lower some settings, I'm not an expert on computers, but yours seems pretty good to me :p

OK, thanks. I guess I'll see how it works in the actual game. Maybe there won't be any issues there. After doing some web searching and stuff, I finally managed to find a way to access vertical sync settings for my graphics card. "Wait for vertical refresh" is currently set to "Off, unless application specifies", so unless the game is turning it on, it should be off already. I should be able to force it off completely now if necessary though, so hopefully I can get it worked out.

I'm considering buying L.A. Noire since it's currently 75% off and looks like a good game. However, after looking at the system requirements for it, I'm not certain if my laptop can run it. Some of them I do know make it -- I've got Windows 7, 4GB of RAM, way more than 16GB of free hard drive space, and a DVD drive. I don't think there's an issue with my sound card being 100% DirectX9 Compatible, but is there some way to confirm this? Here are the two I'm not sure of:
Processor: Intel Dual Core 2.2GHz to Quad Core 3.2GHz / AMD Dual Core 2.4Ghz to Quad Core 3.2Ghz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 1536MB / Radeon HD 3000 512MB to Radeon HD 6850 1024MB
My processor is an Intel Core i5 520M, 2.40GHz. CPU-Z shows 2 cores and 4 threads, so it should be dual core. It would be on the low side, but I think this makes it if the "dual core" above is a general thing and doesn't require any particular model.
As for the graphics card, I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 with 512MB of memory. This would seem to fall into the range of Radeon cards in the requirements, but given that it's from the Mobility series, I'm not sure if it qualifies. If it does, it would again be on the low side, but at least the game should work.
So can anyone tell me if my computer can play L.A. Noire? If so, can you recommend settings to use? I assume that with my near-minimum processor and graphics card, I'd need to dial down some settings to lower quality or something -- advice on that would be appreciated as well. And if possible, please let me know before the sale ends later today. Thanks for your help!
