I got an email saying my Humble Choice games are ready to play, and it appears I have been charged for the March bundle. I still have several months from an annual membership I bought years ago when it was still called Humble Monthly. A few months after buying the 1-year subscription, I haven't been interested in any of the bundles, and I've been pausing it every month since. They only let you pause one month at a time, and I've always received an email the next month when they resume the membership. When I get that email, I re-pause it if I'm not interested in the next month's games.

I just looked at my email (gmail) history, and I got an email from when I paused in February, then nothing from them until last week when I got an email from them saying they haven't heard from me in a while with a link to check out their current bundles. The next email is the one saying my March Choice games are ready. I never received an email when they resumed the membership for March, so I didn't go back and pause it.

I checked my Humble account purchases page and it is showing March 2023 Choice there, so they have charged me for it. I submitted a request for a refund, but given their "support" lately, I don't expect they will give me one. This is a new low to stop informing me of resuming my membership so that they can charge me for the next one.

Has anyone had any success in getting a refund for a monthly choice? Did anyone else stop getting email about their membership resuming after pausing?

If you do a chargeback, they will ban your account and you'll lose any unused keys. Something to keep in mind.

Not likely, the charge was on an already paid subscription, OP bought a yearly one, instead of month by month.

I overlooked that fact. Thank you for addressing that. I retract my statement.

I've never had the need to request a refund, since there's virtually no difference between cancelling and pausing, I now just cancel my subscription every time and resume only if I get a coupon and/or I'm interested in the month's games.

I paused last month and did not receive an email about resuming either.
I don't think they will refuse to refund you if you haven't asked many times before, considering the "change of policy" (aka sneaky a**hole move they pulled) regarding the resuming but it seems canceling is preferable now.
I don't know how it works if you have a yearly subscription still running though.

After pausing in Feb I also didn't get a "Humble Choice membership resumed" email for March, though I did get my usual "Your March Choice games are here!" email. Hopefully they will refund you the month of March.

Personally I have been skipping constantly but it has never resumed on its own. Weird to see this happening. Makes me wonder if they actually have implemented something in the system that intentionally resumes random subscriptions in hope of people not noticing.
Sorry, misunderstood your post in initially. Either way, if you don't have any key opened you should be fine.

From what I have usually read on other choice threads, those who either forgot or had the sub resume on itself, mostly got back the money. Just don't redeem any keys. (or in this case a month back)

Should be fine IMO. If not, threaten them with consumer protection laws. If you are European then HB knows they would be fucked sideways with their business practices. When they hear these magical words they crumble.
