Ryse comes to mind.

Darksiders 1 & 2, but these are a bit far setting-wise.

I second the Darksiders recommendation. Total Warrior feels much like a slasher so basically any DMC-like game will suit you quite well, I think. You might want to check current Humble Bundle for Enslaved, for instance. You could try also Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death - good reviews, cheap and was in PAYWUW bundle.

EDIT: If you don't mind slashing multiple foes at once with a single attack, you can also check Dynasty Warriors.
EDIT2: Sorry for the edits. Any moment sth new comes up my mind :D Viking: Battle for Asgard - that would be more appropriate in terms of both gameplay and setting. Maybe the old game, Rune would be good as well?
EDIT3: The last one for now, I promise :D Rise of the Argonauts. Btw, why Steam since Spartan is a PS2-only game? Can we recommend other platforms as well? I have some in mind that aren't available on PC :P

Thanks for the Games :)
I still have Rune, and yes it's great :D

Why Steam? Because i want all my games in 1 library. It's very comfortable and easy to find :)
But i have non-Steam Games too. (only few, like DotT or Larry, Tony Hawk Series etc.) the most of them are on Steam and i hope more classics like Tony Hawk Series, Rayman, Larry, DoTT, Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers, old C&C and many more comes to Steam. 1 most wanted was fulfilled: Hogs of War wuhu :D

I admit, it's comfortable but when I had the opportunity to buy the C&C anthology for a cheap price on Origin, I didn't hesitate - especially when the platform and publisher are the same (EA and Origin for instance). Having the whole C&C series on Steam would probably imply launching through two platforms.

Well, there is no Steam on consoles. Do you seek Spartan-like games on any other platforms than PC/Mac/Linux?

I never played this game, can you tell me what exactly are you searching for? Hack'n Slash, generally killing hordes of enemies, something else?

Sorry for late reply, I'm lazy :P

So yeah, I read other people answers and they actually cover most of my knowledge :P Still I have one gem that you might like Prototype. It's setting is nothing like Sparta (well, it's modern day USA :P) but you are almost invincible, powerfull man with grat abilities. You will fight tens of enemies at once in open world, using your mutations, vechicles and guns (but you probablly won't want to use them, because the biggest fun is using your powers). Not to mention game have a very nice story, fun side quests and even some 'infiltration' elements.

Also you might try Demonicon. With this title I drift more away from your request, but game itself have a very nice fights with quite big ammounts of enemies. Note that it isn't hack and slash, it's more liek action rpg set in medival/dark fantasy realms. It also have an excelent story.

A game that i feel it's a "spiritual sucessor" to spartan total warior is viking battle for asgard by spiritual sucessor i mean it has a theme and the gameplay revolves killing lot of enemies in small battles ending the ACT with a huge battle.
Personally i think dynasty warriors is a much better hack'n'slash game and you should check it out, not only it has a Lot of content it's incredebly fun playing with 2 players (local co-op)
Ryse is a game that has a strong theme like Spartan total warriors however it's a small game and the combat is a misture os QTE and the simple light, heavy and block moveset
